Summer Food Service Program

Please be sure to pick up your child’s medication from the clinic by the end of the school day on May 31. This includes prescription and non-prescription medication as well as nebulizer and any equip-ment you may have brought in for medical procedures. An adult must pick up these items. If the medication is not picked up before the end of the school day on May 31, the medication will be disposed of according to Volusia County School Board administration of medication guidelines at the close of that day. For the next school year, make sure you wait until on or after 7/1/19 to get authorizations—anytime sooner will not be accepted. Each school year medical authorizations will require updating. Please ask your pharmacist to use the manufacturer expiration date so the med-ication does not expire before the end of the school year.

Field Day is May 17! Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade are asked to bring in individually wrapped, non-melting snacks. 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade are asked to bring in bottles of water . If you are graciously donating water or snacks, please bring the items to the front office. Thank you for your donation to make this day possible! Let Coach Evans know if you would like to volunteer!

Congratulations to Silas Oler, a kindergartener in Ms. Ellis’s class, who was chosen to represent Tomoka at this year’s Volusia Students Create! Silas’s art was on display at the Gateway Center for the Arts in Debary. What an awesome job, Silas!!

Hello Parents & Guardians, I am excited to be approaching the end of the 2019-2020 school year with your child. It has been a stimulating year of academic accomplishments and continuing Tomoka traditions. As we plan for next year, I am offering an opportunity for you to provide input for consideration as I place stu-dents into classes for next year. Please utilize the school-provided form sent on 5/4/19 and return your remarks by 5/17/19. I will certainly read every appropriate sub-mission in case I am able to utilize your input. Mean-while, I look forward to seeing you at end of the year activities and wish you the best during the summer months. I am proud to be your principal at Tomoka Elementary, where together we can be H.E.R.O.s (Helping, Encour-aging, Respecting Others). Best regards, Dr. Julie Roseboom Principal Tomoka Elementary

As we get closer to the end of the year, remember to check the “Lost and Found” table located outside of the cafeteria for any items such as jackets or lunch boxes that your child has mis-placed. There is a wide assortment of items that have been turned in, but not yet claimed. These items will be donated at the end of the day on May 31st.

• The student should eat a nutritious and filling breakfast. Avoid high sugar cereals which can make the student hyper and/or unfocused

• Make sure the student is on time the day of testing and set a backup alarm to avoid the possibility of oversleeping

• Try not to put too much pressure on the student. Reinforce that as long as they work hard in preparation and do their absolute best you will be proud of them.

• Avoid negative language when talking about expectations of the test and try not to engage in negative talk with other students before the test. Instead, try to replace with positive wording or affirmations.
