The Award is given in 20 selected industry groupings,
and is ranked across all groupings in 1 to 100 order,with no more than 10 winner from any of the industry
groupings.

ARE YOU ELIGIBLE?
To be eligible, you need to full the following criteria:
A home-grown and locally incorporated with at least 49% local equity
Annual turnover of between RM 1 million and RM 50 million, or full time employees between 20 to 200 for manufacturing,
manufacturing related and agro-based industries, and annual turnover of between RM 500,000 and RM 25 million, or full time
employees between 10 to 150 for services, primary agriculture and ICT industries
Must not be listed on any stock exchange or share market
Can either be a holding company or a subsidiary. If the holding company participates all subsidiaries will not be eligible
Have audited nancial statements for the year ending 2006 & 2007 or 2007 & 2008.
Exceptions to these criteria may be granted on case to case basis
SME100 is an Annual Recognition Award programme organised by SME & Entrepreneurship
Magazine and Malaysias best selling business magazine. The Award recognises the
achievements of Malaysias Small and Medium Enterprises, and provides a platform for theseSMEs to compete globally. Complementing the efforts of the Government and the National
SME Development Council in identifying, recognising and assisting SMEs to grow and serve as
the backbone of Malaysias economy.

JUDGING BENCHMARKS
Both quantitative and qualitative benchmarks are used to determine the winners and their rankings within the list.

CONFIDENTIALITY
To maintain condentiality, the prot of participating companies will NOT be released publicly. Operating prot and
nancial ratios will only be used for the purpose of ranking and will be published only as a percentage or ratio.
However, prot and other gures may be used for research purposes, for which authorisation is deemed to
have been received from all participating companies upon submission of the Nomination Form. The organisers
decisions on all aspects of this programme including ranking, evaluation and publication of the list will be nal.
