You can upgrade Folding arms andmost Rail arms with Smart-Control.Smart-Control upgrade adds threeencoders to specific torque arms,at the pivot locations, and a controlsystem. The controller convertsthe data from theencoders to anX, Y & Z locationand controls thescrewdrivers basedon the programyou generated.

WHAT IS SMART-CONTROL?

Smart-Control upgrade adds positional tracking to yourtorque arm. The Smart-Control knows the X, Y & Z locationof your tool and synchronizes the location with the toolcontrol system.

Smart-Control Features:

! Program 5 jobs with 40 screw locations each.

! Add a bit/socket tray to confirm the correct applicatoris used.

! Add Smart-Bins to confirm the correct screw is used.

Look for the Smart upgrade symbol to know ifthe arm you are considering is suitable for thisoption.

2. Which tool holder? 3. What load capacity?

The design of the tool and type of operation determinethe choice of tool holder. Tool holders are availablethat are fixed, or can tilt and rotate to permit horizontalor vertical operations..

Choose the correct size of tool holder by measuring thediameter of the selection of the tool or machine thatwill be held in the tool holder. If necessary, the toolholder can be combined with one of our speciallymade adapter sleeves.

NOTE! When the shaft of a power screwdriver is parallelwith the rotating axis of the tool holder, the torque willnot be eliminated.

To decide the correct load capacity for a balancing

arm you need to take the following into account:

Weight of cables, hoses, etc. to tool/machine

Weight of tool/machine

Weight of any extension tube

+ Weight of tool holder

= Total weight to use when choosing

load capacity

How to choose a tool holder/when you need a brakeThere are nine different tool configurations available to cover the most common operations with aninline or right angled tool.

Follow the guide below to identify the specific tool holder needed and brake required:

Additional Smart Motion armsSmart Motion offers a large range of arms to meet the many types of assembly production needs. Beloware examples of Parallel Arms for Vertical Applications, Rail Arms mounted to Overhead Rails, and TorqueTubes mounted to Overhead Rails.

Application examples

As an option POS-100 & POS-300 can be equipped with an operator assist feature to activate the machine. This gives theoperator an additional force upwards or downwards when the machine is used, which gives the operator relief in theirdaily assembly work. Requires an electrical control signal 24 VDC.
