Bold Line Controllers
Temperature, CO2 and O2 controllers
The Bold Line is an integrated system of modular controllers, which communicate with each other
through a cableless connector and can be operated via touch screen (OKO-TOUCH) or, with the addition of
the Smart Box web server, even remotely from the PC, tablet or smart phone.
The Bold Line Controllers can be op-
erated as standalone units or in com-
bination with each other through
cableless connection. When a new
unit is attached to an existing one,
the touch screen detects the new
hardware and the new features be-
come immediately available to the
operator.
The dual controller CO2-O2 UNIT BL
[0:10-1-18] is the most common solu-
tion for live cell applications where both CO2 and O2 control are required. A similar solution can be ob-
tained with the combination of the two single gas controllers (CO2 UNIT BL + O2 UNIT BL). This latter con-
figuration is suggested when one of the two controllers is already available and an upgrade is needed to
be able to control the concentration also of the other gas.

OKO - Touch
Oko-Touch
OKO-Touch allows to control the Bold Line Control-
lers in an easy and intuitive way. It connects to any
one of the Bold Line Controllers, detects the equip-
ment available and displays the pages and functions
supported by the equipment detected.
OKO Touch allows to:
• start and stop the controller
• define set point values
• set flow rate of heating air (for Bold Line Cage Incubator)
• define gas cycles (when connected to a gas controller)
• define temperature cycles (when connected to the T controller of Bold Line Top Stage Incubator)
• choose the control mode: specimen or chamber/cage feedback
• select the chamber model and plate adapter (for Bold Line Top Stage Incubator)
• display all the measured variables
• run the self calibration procedure (for Bold Line Top Stage Incubator)

Smart Box (SM-BL)
Smart Box connects to the highest unit of the Bold Line control system and has the following features:
• data logger
• web server
• video streaming server
Data Logger The Smart Box acquires the status data from the
integrated bold line controllers and stores them in a local not
volatile memory. Examples of acquired and stored data are: set
point temperature, specimen temperature, base, cover and
humidifying module temperature, CO2/ O2 concentration and
set point, gas flow rate, etc. Smart Box also stores maximum
temperature and gas concentration deviation within a certain
time interval. Data can be recalled via web application from
PC, Tablet or Smart Phone.
Web Server
The Smart Box is a web server and can be connected to the
internet via WiFi USB key or via ethernet. If connected, it is
possible to view the current status, and tp control the system
remotely.

Video Streaming Server
Smart Box includes a web cam which can be connected to the
USB 2.0 Host to provide video streaming.
This is particularly useful to contact the Okolab team for on
line support and to monitor the lab remotely.
Remote assistant
Okolab supports its customers with an online video assistance service. Via Smart Box, the support team
can be enabled to access the integrated controller units to perform maintenance and trouble shooting.

H201 – T UNIT
Temperature controller for Bold Line Cage Incubator
H201 T UNIT BL is the temperature controller used in the Cage Incubator. It keeps the specimen at the
desired temperature by controlling the temperature of the air blown in the enclosure by the Air Heater.
Air Heater The Air Heater recycles the heating air, which enters
into the enclosure through air diffusors.
The Air Blower can be connected to a HEPA filtering
unit. In this way the air that flows in the enclosure is
dust and bacteria free.
The Air Blower is equipped with a flow rate sensor
that allows to measure and control the flow rate of
air blown into the enclosure. This allows to combine
fast start up of the system with smooth operation
during the experiment

Specimen / Cage Feedback Operation There are two ways to operate the system, depend-
ing on which Temperature sensor is used to provide
feedback to H201 – T UNIT BL. Selection is per-
formed with Oko-Touch.
• Specimen feedback mode: in this configuration, feedback is provided by a sensor placed inside the climate chamber, near the specimen. Simple manipulation is required to stick the thermocou-ple into the reference well with some adhesive tape.
• Enclosure feedback mode: in this configuration, feedback is provided by a sensor measuring the temperature of the air inside the enclosure

H301 – T UNIT
Temperature controller for Bold Line Top Stage Incubator
H301 T UNIT BL is the temperature controller used in the Top Stage Incubator. It controls the tempera-
ture of the incubating chamber base, of the heated glass cover and of the humidifier collar.
Specimen / Chamber Feedback Operation There are two ways to operate the system, depending on which Temperature sensor is used to provide
feedback to H201 – T UNIT BL. Selection is performed with Oko-Touch.
• Sample feedback: In this configuration, feed-back is provided by an external temperature sensor that reads the temperature of a refer-ence well, placed in the incubating chamber very close to the specimen. The advantage of this configuration is in the accuracy of the tem-perature control. Simple manipulation is re-quired to stick the thermocouple into the refer-ence well with some adhesive tape.
• Chamber feedback: In this configuration, feed-back is provided by a temperature sensor em-bedded into the incubating chamber. A careful calibration performed in our laboratories guaran-tees that specimen temperature is maintained at the desired value. The advantage of this solution is its simplicity of use.
Self Calibration Routine: this routine improves the accuracy of the chamber feedback operation mode.
It employes the two external temperature sensors of the T-Unit. One sensor measures the temperature
of the lab, while the other one is introduced into a reference well, placed in the same position of sam-
ple. The routine is easily launced via Touch Screen and calculates controller parameters to ensure best
accuracy on the position of the sample.

Accessories OKO-AP-BL is a plug and play solution to gener-
ate the Air stream needed by Bold Line control-
lers. It is a convenient alternative to air vessels
or to compressed air lines. OKO-AP-BL connects
to Air input of the Bold Line controllers with a 6
mm (O.D.) tube. It is operated via Oko-Touch.
Maximum outlet pressure is 0.3 atm.
