A beautiful location in the
‘Kasteelse bossen’
BØFF is situated nearby a beautiful lake in
the forest named ‘Kasteelse bossen’ in
Horst. This is a protected nature area
where you can enjoy a lovely hike or bike
tour. In the forest there are a lot of
different walking routes, a free natural
beach pool, an athletics track, a fishing
pond, a beautiful ruin and an animal
meadow. Various walking tours have been
set out which makes a refreshing evening
walk before or after a nice bite in our
restaurant definitely worthwhile. There are
a number of junction routes for cyclists
and you can start these routes from this
location.

Wist je dat….
… een Flammkuchen ook wel de tarte flambée
genoemd. Het gerecht gerecht komt
oorspronkelijk uit de Elzas, de Palts en Baden.
De Flammkuchen heeft een bodem van dun
brooddeeg die met crème fraîche is belegd. Er
zijn vele inmiddels diverse variaties van het
originele recept, zowel wat betreft het deeg als
het beleg. Tot de opkomst van de pizza in
de jaren 60 was de Flammkuchen een gerecht
dat vooral op het platteland werd bereid. Daar
werd deze vaak gebruikt om de hitte van een
houtgestookte oven te testen. Het gerecht
ontleent zijn naam dan ook aan deze methode
van bakken.

Did you know that….
... a Flammkuchen also called a tarte flambée?
The dish is originally from the Alsace, the
Palatinate and Baden. The Flammkuchen has
a base of thin bread dough topped with crème
fraîche. Nowadays there are all kind of
variations of the original recipe, both in terms
of dough and as in spreads. Until the
attendance of the pizza in the 60s, the
Flammkuchen was a dish that was mainly
prepared in the countryside. There it was
often used to test the heat of a wood-fired
oven. The dish takes has earned its name
'flammkuchen' from this method of baking.

Leffe Double
Leffe Dubbel is an authentic abbey beer with a deep,
autumn-brown color and a full, slightly bittersweet taste.
The color and taste is due to the dark roasted malt. When
drinking this delicious beer you will experience a creamy
taste with aromas of coffee, vanilla, clove and other
roasted aromas. Shades of brown sugar and caramel can
also be discovered during the tasting experience.

Côte de BØFF

Due to the size of our Côte de BØFF, the flavors and
juices are well preserved in the core of the meat. The
great secret of this Irish beef is that the cattle live
outside most of the year. Due to a very strict selection,
only 5 to 10% of the pure-bred Angus and Hereford
cattle qualify for this distinctive label.

The Black Angus is the most famous beef breed in the
world. Our polled Australian breed has been fed grain
for 200 days, which is reflected in the sublime
marbling* of the Sirloin beef. Together with excellent
softness, texture, taste and meat color, this ensures
superior meat quality.
(*) ‘Marbling means that there is a vein of fat in the muscle
meat.’

Did you know that….
... most people do not know that there is no ice tea but
cola in the Long Island Iced Tea. During the reclamation
in 1920-1933 in America many alcoholic mixed drinks
(cocktails) were conceived with code names. The long
island ice tea takes its name and origin from this. The
comparison with ice tea is not strange, since it has a
corresponding color. But appearances are deceptive when
you take the first sip. A classic!

Hertog Jan Triple
Despite a percentage of 8.5%, the Hertog Jan Tripel is characterized by a flexible and
accessible character. It has a beautiful blonde color and tastes malty to sweet, with a
soft bitterness and a palette of fruit flavors. It is not entirely clear where the
traditional "tripel" designation comes from. It could refer to the threefold amount of
ingredients used in brewing and the resulting heaviness of the beer. According to
other sources, breweries used the name Tripel for the beers with the highest alcohol
percentage, in order to distinguish it from the other beers.

The Tenderloin is also called fillet steak and beef
fillet. The tenderloin are cut from the loin of an adult
beef. The more "lazy" the beef muscle, the softer the
meat. The tenderloin comes from a muscle that is
hardly used, which makes for a delicious piece of
tender meat.
