projects, help peers as appropriate, collaborate on team projects, and interact with the instructor in a positive way.The class is project based – students will be producing projects in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and creating a web site using FrontPage. Students are expected to master these software applications Assessment takes the form of quizzes, a mid-term, a final, assignments/activities and projects.

Slide 6 Watch the video lecture to get familiar with Blackboard. The video lecture will be loaded on the BlackBoard before the start of each session. Along with the video, reading materials and assignments/activities or projects will also be loaded on the BlackBoard before the start of each session. All readings will be available on the Session Folder button and Assignments/Activities and Projects will be available under the Assignments button on the BlackBoard on their respective session. Assignments/Activities and Projects are to be turned in by their due dates through the digital drop box. Follow the instructions on the syllabus regarding using the “Digital Drop Box”. Quizzes and exams will be available in Blackboard on their respective session. Read the syllabus for instruction about taking quizzes and exams.Once the Assignments/Activities and projects are complete upload them to your AFS space and link them to their web page (instructions for hyperlinking will be given at later session).

Slide 7 All students must have an ASURITE ID and have to activate their web space (instructions for activating webspace will be given in the video lecture of session 6). All students must have an active ASURITE ID, have updated their email accounts and forwarded their ASU mail to a personal account if they want to do that, requested Student Web Space, the AFS space is for the web pages

that students will make during this course. We’ll begin that in Session 6. Know how to log on to the myASU Portal to locate email and BlackBoard. The next slide will show this.

Slide 10 Students can find their course after login on the BlackBoard by using the myASU portal at http://my.asu.edu/

Slide 11 Log on to Blackboard. You will be automatically enrolled for the class when you are registered for the course. Blackboard uses the ASU email address assigned to students. If you do not use the ASU email account then “set forwarding” for your ASU emails to the email account you use. You will receive a welcome email from your instructor. Students should reply to this email as soon as they can.If you don’t receive an email, then your account isn’t forwarding properly and that will have to be remedied.If instructor doesn’t receive a reply then there is another problem that will have to be checked out.

Slide 12 Just some email remindersYou shouldn’t respond to SPAM because it shows that the email is active and only invites more junk mail.ASU hosts the server that sends students email; the administrators have privileges that allow them to monitor all email. Pornography or illegal uses of ASU systems will be prosecuted and students could be expelled if they are caught.

Slide 13 Pretest is to revisit how much they know and what you will be learning. If you don’t know ANYTHING about these applications – CONGRATULATIONS! You are the perfect student for this class.If you have a good working knowledge of one or more of the applications – CONGRATULATIONS! You will be able to expand your skills as you go through the course The pretest is available under the Assignment button on the BlackBoard. Refer to the Course Calendar for the due date.
