POUCH PACK (CURED) Heinz processed pickles (also known as cured pickles) have a rich

green color, full-bodied flavor and crisp texture. Heinz processed pickles are packed in the

winter and spring. Processed varieties are made from cucumbers that are salted, then held until

needed for processing in large storage tanks. Because of the natural bacteria present on the

cucumber skin, a lactic acid fermentation occurs. Although thecucumbers can remain in this

brine and lactic acid solution from several months to three years, Heinz uses most of its stored

cucumbers within one year.

Serving Suggestions

Hamburger slices are designed for use on hamburgers, topped with spicy condiments/served on

buns. Because of their strong salt/sourflavor, hamburger slices are not recommended for use as a

plate garnish or on salad bars.

Microbiological Statement: Vegetable Oil products by Columbus Vegetable Oils have low moisture content (less than 0.05% typical), have been processed at elevated temperatures, and lack nutrients essential to support growth of most microorganisms. Organisms considered food-borne pathogens or of concern from a quality standpoint are not able to proliferate in oil; Columbus processes and packs oil and shortening in a closed and sealed system offering little opportunity for contamination from extraneous materials that might harbor pathogens, viral particles etc.

Allergens: Soybean Oil with 25% Extra Virgin Olive Oil, CFC 014 does not contain any of the eight major allergens, which are soy, eggs, peanut, milk, wheat, tree nuts, fish, and crustacean fish. CVO also considers sesame protein an allergen because it has caused allergic reactions to some individuals and thus is a concern to many food processors.

Refined, bleached, and deodorized (RBD) oils do not contain any proteinaceous material. The high temperature and filtration used in the RBD process effectively removes any proteins, potentially allergenic material from the oil. Furthermore, refined oils do not require allergen labeling under the Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act of 2004 (FALCPA).

Stored Products: Allergens listed below are not found in the production facility, and those marked with * may be stored and labeled in the warehouse in finished form. All products come from approved suppliers. Each product is evaluated on the potential cross contamination with other products and allergens in the approved supplier’s facility. Also known as the Spanish Onion,Good-quality Red Onions will be firm, free of blemishes or mold spots and have even-colored, paper-dry skin. Some feel that sweeter onions will be flat-shaped from stem to root-end, not round. Store onions in a dry, dark, well-ventilated place; not in the refrigerator.

Avoid:

Avoid product that is soft, wet-skinned, bruised, has dark blemishes or spots of mold.

Storage:

Red Onions should be stored in a cool, dry location with good ventilation. They should not be stored in either a plastic bag or a refrigerator!
