Before using SkypePreparation

•Connect a recommended video camera to the TV’s USB terminal. Do not use a USB hub.

•Arrange the video camera at the top and center of TV.•Connect to the network.

Note:• The video camera is sold separately. For details about

the recommended video camera, please contact the following:- In the U.S., http://support.toshiba.com or call 1-800-631-3811.

- In Canada, http://support.toshiba.ca/support/ceg/ or call 1-800-268-3404.

• Do not connect a camera other than the recommended video camera.

• Using a wireless network may result in degraded call quality.

• Some of the features available on other versions of Skype are not available on the television.

• When using Skype, some functions of the TV will not be available.

• The sound settings are switched to Skype mode.• Skype is usable on the TV speakers only. • If the other party's voice cannot be heard, check the TV

volume.• When Optical Digital output or Analog output is used and

you are signed in, the ring tone does not sound.• The volume for Skype differs from that for other features. • When the Reset TV feature is used from the TV Menu,

Skype information is reset to factory default settings.• For help using Skype, visit skype.com

Getting started1 Press the NET TV button.2 Select Skype. Press . The Skype welcome screen

appears.3 Select Get started. Press .

4 Select Sign in or Create an account.

Note: The next time Skype is launched, the Sign In screen or Contact list screen will be displayed.

No Emergency Call Available

Skype cannot be used for emergency calls.

Creating a new accountIf you do not have a Skype account, a new one must be created.

1 Select Create an account. Press .2 Enter your Full Name, Skype Name, Password,

Repeat password, and Email.•If you want to receive new features, services and

other Skype related notifications, check the selection box.

3 Read through the terms and conditions and click I accept. Create an account. Press .

4 A new account is created and signed in.

Note:• The Email address is necessary for inquiries regarding

lost or forgotten passwords. Please ensure that you enter your Email address correctly.

• If you forget the password, visit www.skype.com and confirm your password.

• If a message appears informing you that the entered Skype name is already registered, please choose a different name.

Signing into SkypeIf you have a Skype account, sign into Skype.

1 Enter your Skype Name and Password.2 Select Sign in. Press .

•If the Sign in automatically box is checked, your account will sign in automatically when you turn on the TV or launch Skype from the NET TV menu.

Basic Operation

1 Press or on the remote control to select a tab (Contacts, History, Voicemail, Contact requests, or Settings).

2 Press B or b to select a contact from the list. Press .

3 Press C or c to select a button. Press .

To close Skype:•Press the Exit button.•Press the RED button.

Note: The differences in operation between the Exit button and the RED button are:• Exit

- Exit, but remain signed in.- Incoming Call can be received.

• RED- To sign out and exit.- Incoming Call cannot be received.

To use the remote’s color buttons:•RED (Quit): To sign out and exit.

Note: This feature is available when Contact list, History list, Voicemail list, or Contact request list is highlighted.

•GREEN (Add Contact): See “Add Contact” (- p. 6).Note: This feature is available when Contact list, History list, or Voicemail list is highlighted.

•YELLOW (Change Status): You can change your status.

Note: This feature is available when Contact list, History list, Voicemail list, or Contact request list is highlighted.

•BLUE (Tools): This feature allows you manage your privacy options as well as to view a contact’s profile and remove or block a contact.

Note: This feature is available when Contact list, History list, Voicemail list, or Contact request list is highlighted.

Enjoying Skype

ContactsIf you use Skype for the first time, you can add a contact to make a call (- “Add Contact” on p. 6). Once a contact is registered, they are displayed on the screen.

To start calling:

1 Press B or b to select a contact. Press .2 Press C or c to select Video Call or Call. Press .

Do not disturb Rejects Incoming Calls.

Invisible Shows your status as if you are not online.

Sign out Signs out and exits Skype.

Feature Description

View Profile

Views the contact profile.This feature is available when Contact list, History list, Contact request list, or search result list in Add Contact is highlighted.

Block/Unblock

Blocks the person from contacting you./Stops blocking the person.This feature is available when Contact list or History list is highlighted.

Remove

Removes a contact, a voicemail from each list.This feature is available when Contact list or Voicemail list is highlighted.

• Video call

You are displayed in the smaller pane of the video window. If your contact has also selected Video call, he/she is displayed in the larger pane of the video window.

• Call

If Call is selected by both parties, neither is shown in the video window.

Add ContactYou can add contacts to your contact list.

1 Press the GREEN button.2 Input the Full name, Skype name, or Email address.

Select Search. Press . A results window appears.3 Press B or b to select a contact. Press . Selected

contact will be added to your contact list.

Note: When Contact list, History list, or Voicemail list is selected, the GREEN button is available.

HistoryDisplays all of your call history. You can make calls from this history.

To start calling:

1 Press B or b to select a history event. Press .2 Press C or c to select Video call or Call. Press .

Feature Description

Video callCall includes both voice and video. During a call, this button is not available.

Call Voice only call. During a call, this button is not available.

End call Finishes the call.

Start My Video/Stop My Video

During a call, you can change the characteristics of the call from Video call to Call or Call to Video call.Note: Your contact’s characteristics of the call cannot be changed.

Mic On/Mic Off Turns on/off microphone.

Full Screen/Normal

Changes the size of your contact's video window pane.

VoicemailThis feature allows you to listen to the recorded Voicemail.

Note: This feature is a pay service. To subscribe to voicemail and to get more information, visit www.skype.com .

To listen a voicemail:

1 Press B or b to select a voicemail. Press .2 Press to play.

Contact requestsThis feature displays the list of received contact requests.

1 Press B or b to select an account name. Press .A window appears.

2 Press B or b to select Accept, Decline, or Block. Press . A confirmation screen appears.

3 Select OK or Cancel. Press .

SettingsYou can change the following settings.

User Profile Edits your Full Name, Mood Message.

Change Password Changes your password.

General Settings If you want to sign in automatically when you turn on the TV, select On.

Video Settings If you want to receive video automatically, select On.

Audio Settings

Ring when receiving a call:To enable ring tone on Incoming Calls, select On. Ring when making a call:If the ring-back tone is sounded, select On.

Privacy SettingsSets whom you allow calls from. Select anyone or only people in my Contact

List.

Blocked Users

The list of blocked contacts. If you do not want to block the person:1 Select the account name. Press .

A window appears.2 Select OK. Press .

Connection

Use ports 80 and 443 for incoming

connections:If you wish to use port 80 and 443 for Incoming connections, select On.Incoming connection port:Input the port number.Note: If Use ports 80 and 443 for incoming connections is set to On, this option is not available.

Receiving a Skype callWhen you receive a call, a window will appear. Select Answer with video, Answer, or Decline.

Note:• This window does not appear when your account is

signed out or your status is set to Do not disturb.• You cannot receive calls when you are signed out of

Skype or if the TV is off.

TroubleshootingSkype cannot be launched

• Check that the recommended video camera (- p. 3) is connected to the TV.

• Ensure the Ethernet cable connection.• Check the Network setting of TV.• Turn off the TV and unplug the power cord. After 1

minute, plug the power cord in and turn on the TV.Cannot Sign in to Skype account

• If you have no Skype Name, create a Skype Name in Create an account.

Forgotten Password• Visit www.skype.com and confirm the password.
