Join staff from the Music Institute of Chicago for activities that bridge the natural connection between music and movement, develop the child’s musical aptitude, and enhance their focused listening abilities. Parents of PreschoolersReading to SucceedTuesday, October 27 // 6:30–7:30 pm // Craft Room // Parents of Children Ages 2–5The new Parents of Preschoolers group is a safe space for parents of children ages 2–5 to talk, enjoy refreshments, and learn about various aspects of child development from local experts. Meet other parents and support one another in doing the best for your young child. This month, we’re talking about ways to help your child build the skills to get ready to read. Parents attending this program may bring their young children to the Program Room for storytime while the group is meeting.

Each class is taught by a specialist from a therapy organization. Limited to 20 participants. For children with a caregiver. Siblings are welcome.

Rainbow Therapy TimeSunday, October 18 // 12:15–1:15 pm // Radmacher Meeting Room // Ages 7–12Children with special needs are invited to enjoy the benefits of interacting with trained therapy dogs. Rainbow Animal Assisted Therapy dog handlers will work with the children to strengthen motor skills, learn social skills, and increase language use. Parents remain in the library while children attend the program accompanied by trained volunteer aides.
