skinny scalloped scarfBecause this scarf is made with super chunky yarns, it can be worked up very fast. You’ll want to make several as gifts for all the skinny scarf lovers in your life.
What You’ll Need ∞ Basic Crochet Tool Kit
∞ Bernat Roving (80% acrylic/20% wool;
3.5oz/100g = 120yds/109m): (A) less than 1 ball,
#00098 low tide
∞ Loops & Threads Cozy Wool (50% acrylic/50%
wool; 4.5oz/127g = 90yds/82m): (B) less than 1
ball, granite
∞ Lily Sugar ‘n Cream (100% cotton: 2.5oz/70g
= 120yds/109m): (C) less than 1 ball, #00001
white
∞ Crochet hook: US J-10 (6.0mm) or size needed
to obtain gauge
Gauge: Two scallops measure approximately
1½ inches (3.8cm) tall. One scallop measures
about 1 inch (2.5cm) wide.

InstructionsTo begin: With A, ch 3.
Closed Scallops: *3 dc in 3rd ch from hook, ch
3; repeat from * until you have approximately
46 scallops, or to desired length. Fasten off.
If necessary, untwist the piece so that all
beginning chains are across one long edge and
all 3-dc groups are stacked one on top of each
other (figs. A and B).
Open Scallops (to begin): Draw up a loop of
B in one end of the long straight edge (the
edge opposite the beginning ch-3’s) of the
closed scallops, ch 1, work 3 sc in edge of each
scallop across long edge, turn (you now have
138 sc) (fig. C).
Open Scallops (to finish): (Ch 6, sk next 2 sc, sl
st in next sc) 45 times, ch 6, sk next 2 sc, sl st in
final sc. Fasten off (fig. D).
White Accent: With approximately 66 inches
(167.6cm) of C and a tapestry needle, weave C
in and out, along the center of the scarf. Fasten
off. Weave in all ends (fig. E).
