Skill Development Institute (SDI), Bhubaneswar is unique CSR initiative by Oil PSUs & managed by Indian Oil Corporation Limited under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas for providing opportunities for skilling and for the livelihood of unemployed and underprivileged youth and at the same time ensuring supply of adequate skilled manpower to the hydrocarbon and other related industries.

The core pillars of SDI include Skill training to unemployed and under privileged youth for enhancing their employability and entrepreneurship, empowerment of youth by assisting on placements and career progression and encourage start-ups and industry interphase for identifying and promoting the right skills appropriate to the industry.

SDI Bhubaneswar fortunate to have its presence in Petrotech on 5th – 7th December 2016 at New Delhi. The PETROTECH series of International Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition is a biennial platform for national and international experts in the oil & gas industry to exchange views and share knowledge, expertise and experiences. Being held for the last over two decades with growing participation, PETROTECH-2016 is the 12th edition of the flagship event of the bustling Indian hydrocarbon sector that is a must-attend one in this part of the globe.

Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) and Oil & Gas Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG) are organising a Campaign to sensitize the masses about the conservation and efficient use of petroleum products towards achieving twin objectives of better health & environment and securing availability of Oil & Gas for future generations. The campaign is named as SAKSHAM 2017 (Sanrakshan Kshamta Mahotsav) in which a number of activities are being carried out based on the theme of the event. IOCL and Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA); jointly conducted a Saksham-2017 Pledge Event on 3rd February 2017. All the students and officials joined the call for national interest.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is a campaign by the Government of India to clean the streets, roads and infrastructure of the country's.

The objectives of Swachh Bharat are to reduce or eliminate open defecation through construction of individual, cluster and community toilets. The Swachh Bharat mission will also make an initiative of establishing an accountable mechanism of monitoring latrine use.









IOCL Chairman paid a visit to SDI Bhubaneswar

Odisha Skill Development Authority Chairman Mr. Subroto Bagchi visited our campus on 21.9.2016; Has appreciated the Oil PSUs for setting up such a world class structure. Youths of Odisha should take highest advantages out of this novel initiation of Petroleum Ministry he further added.

Electrical Students of SDI Bhubaneswar developed this PLC KIT under supervision of faculties as their project

Students of Skill Development Institute, Bhubaneswar visited the Paradip Refinery on dated 19th Nov 2016. Students were overwhelmed by visiting the refinery site with an objective to gather some industrial knowledge.

Interacted with our team in reference to proceedings, obstacles and future plan. Advised to invite Skill Council of Odisha Chairman Mr Subrot Bagchi (Independent Director at Indian Oil Board) and cultivate on his guidance to set a smooth journey for SDI.





A National Conclave on Skill Development Initiatives in Hydrocarbon Sector involving all the stake holders of the

Industry.

Mr. N N RAO, CEO of SDI, Bhubaneswar, invited to be a speaker on the topic “Youth and Employment: The Role of Skill India Initiative” in the conference of IIT Bhubaneswar.

The date was 5th November 2016; Mr. Sanjiv Singh, Director (R) of our managing enterprise visited the campus of SDI, Bhubaneswar. Interacted with our team in reference to proceedings, Placement and future plan.

Mr G.K. Satish (Plg & BD) of IOCL has also accompanied Mr. Sanjiv Singh on 5th November. His inclusive gesture provided foundation of support to progress towards excellence.

First National Conclave on ‘Skill Development Initiatives in Hydrocarbon Sector’ was organized by SDI, Bhubaneswar on 9th May 2017 at Mayfair Convention. This conclave was inaugurated by Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Union Minister of State (I/C), Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India. Leaders and Senior officers of the Oil Industry, academicians, consultants, and training partners in skills industry, senior industry members from various part of the country as well as State, etc. took part in this National conclave.

Two Students of 2nd batch of SDI, Bhubaneswar Shri Khirasagar Swain, Bargarh of Industrial Welding and Shri Bharaye Soren, Mayurbhanj of Industrial Electrical of SDI Bhubaneswar have taken Entrepreneurship as career. Towards their entrepreneurship journey, SDI Bhubaneswar is helping them by way of providing tool kit and support in establishing their initiative.

The Industrial Electrician Course for the 3rd batch of 50 students started from 13th July 2017 and the Rope-In program conducted from 13th to 21st July 2017 for familiarizing the student with the SDI facilities and mixing them & get to know each other and faculty for successful completion of their course.

Rs 500 crore in the 46.172-acre campus allotted by

State Govt. to train around 4,000 youngsters every

An MoU has been signed between Skill Development

Institute (SDI) Bhubaneswar and NBCC, a Navratna

CPSE for setting up the world-class state-of-the-art

infrastructure for the Skill Academy at Taraboi, Jatni

(Near IIT Bhubaneswar) in 46.172 acres of land in the

1st Phase.

Pipe Fitter-City Gas Distribution (Pipe Fitter-

CGD) course to provide the much-needed

skilled manpower for ongoing City Gas

Distribution projects in Odisha as part of Urja

Ganga Gas Pipeline project. Pipefitter-CGD is

a special course which provides employability

in City Gas Distribution, Oil Refineries, Power

Plants, and other manufacturing industries

with piping, vents and ducts for gas, liquid or

air.

SDI Celebrates Its 2nd Foundation Day Celebration SDI celebrated its 2nd Foundation Day with the august presence of Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship along with Mr.Ranjan Mahapatra, Chairman SDI Bhubaneswar and other IOCL officials.

A mobilization drive organised as part of Ajeevika evam Kaushal Vikas Mela by NSDC with all the Training Partners at Khurda on 5th May was successfully attended by the participants. SDI shared a stall with HSSC to showcase the initiatives of HSSC and SDI and get more benefits in Mobilization during new Batches start up.

Daimler (Bharat Benz) / Johnson Lift / ASAL (Tata Project) / New Holland were the prime industries to visit and conduct Campus Interviews for Electrical/Welder/Fitter/Instrumentation students considering almost 90% job opportunities to our bright students. Most of the students are expected to be placed in various companies without any major constraints. Bhubaneswar. Candidates from other training institutes also participated in the campus drive organized at our academy.
