The skeletal system of a human body is something that almost everybody takes for granted. Your skeleton supports you, protects you, allows you to complete tasks, and shapes
you!
It allows us to move. Because our muscles are attached to our bones, when our muscles move, they move the bones,
and we move.
SKELETAL SYSTEM
Did you know?
• Humans have about 206 bones in their body
• There are 26 bones in each foot and 27 in each hand.
• Over half your bones are found in your hands and feet.
• the largest in your leg known as the Femur
• the smallest inside your ear called the stirrup.
Bones are hard on the outside, they are very strong. Inside they are soft. Red and white blood cells are made from the bone marrow inside bones .
Bones also store minerals that the body
needs.
When you were born, your skeleton had around 350 bones. By the time you become an adult, you will only have
around 206 bones. This is because, as you grow, some of the bones join
together to form one bone. Over half your bones are found in your
hands and feet. There are 26 bones in each foot and 27 in each hand.
