RESCHEDULED
Missouri River Quilt Auction, Crafts Show, & Bike Show (Previously Applefest)
This event is a way of raising funds for the Missouri Baptist Chil-dren’s Home. It has been held in another community for years but is being brought to the Platte County Fair Grounds, now Tentatively set for April 17, 2021. Please get the word out to any Quilters, Crafters and Bikers to let them know. (More Details later)
Sr. Adult Event for August Cancelled
Due to the uncertainty of the current situations with the Pandemic and the aftermath of reopening, the decision has been made to can-cel the Sr. Adult Event for August. It was felt it would be in the best interest of our senior adults to look for other opportunities for meet-ing together and fellowship at a later date when things seem to slow down and subside. Once plans have been made we will be sure to let each church know. We want to thank everyone for their understand-ing and patience with all the changes and decisions we have had to make.

August 2020 The month of August has been described as “Reality of the Return” from the Covid-19 Pandem-ic. June was “Introduction to the Return”, July was “Transition of the Return”, and August will be “Reality of the Return”. There are many things still up in the air concerning the next steps in dealing with and Recovery from the Covid-19 Pandemic; each and every week things are in flux. Even as I write this article things are changing; some for the better and some for the worse. It’s amazing how much change can transpire in just 5 months. I have been doing a Sermon Series on “the king-dom of God” at FBC Weston. In my study for this series I have been directed by several questions; “Do I embrace the kingdom of God in my life?” “Do I honor the kingdom of God with my life?” “Do I propagate the kingdom of God continually?” If I can be honest about this, the answer lately has been no. There have been so many distractions (Covid-19, Injustice, Racial Issues, Financial Alteration, Family Well-being, Calendared Cancelations, and so forth) that I have allowed some of my attention to be taken away from the kingdom of God. Yet, I am reminded of the words of Jesus, “And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. 30 For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. 31 But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be add-ed to you.” (Lk 12:29-31) I really wasn’t con-cerned about having food or water, but my “anxious mind” had shifted my focus from “the kingdom of God” to the concerns of this world. As we approached the beginning of 2020 God led me to Psalm 121:1-2 as a theme for SJBA. I didn’t have any perceptions of what was to come; the theme God lead me to was “I will lift up my eyes”. (Psalm 121: 1-2)
I I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help? 2 My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.
Often when distractions come losing focus can happen, but we don’t have to stay distracted. We are reminded that our “help…comes from the Lord”. We are reminded that He “made heaven and earth”. There is absolutely no one else to focus on, to “lift up my eyes” to, except the Lord. There is no one who knows “the kingdom of God” better than God and no one who can help better than God. There is no way to embrace the kingdom of God, honor the kingdom of God, and propagate the king-
dom of God without focusing on Him. “I will lift up my eyes” is a reminder that He is our God and de-sires to help those who seek His kingdom. As you continue 2020 lift your eyes to the Lord; em-brace the kingdom of God in your life, honor the kingdom of God with your life, and propagate the kingdom of God continually.
