The annual Sizzlin’ Steak Fry will be held on Saturday, June 13 at the usual 6:00PM. We will order 50 awesome boneless ribeye steaks; they will be distributed on a first-come, first service basis; howev- er, to help with the event planning, please email Agnes & Lew at chollafi[email protected], if you will attend. Members will pay $10 and guests will pay $15. The steak will a be cook-your-own affair, so direct any and all complaints to the chef! Your steak will be served with a baked potato, corn on the cob and a tossed salad. After dinner, we will have tasty vanilla icecream with a choice of toppings. Of course, there will be beer and wine. This is always a great party and this year will no exception!! Consider the steak fry a pre-party for Roger Clyne’s Circus Mexicus; there will be lots of Peace Maker music to get those going to Bandito’s for the show in the mood. For those staying at the OBSC, bring your single dollar bills for the popular “left-right-center” dice game. We hope to see everyone enjoying our last event of the OBSC party season and at Sunday’s general meeting to plan next year’s parties. Our third Off Road Poker Road ran even smoother than the first two, thanks to the efforts of the Ross-Dahlstram poker run team. A great run topped off with great music by Banda LaMerca and a super dinner. The big poker winner ($400) was Jeff O. B. S. C. Old Boys Social Club of Cholla Bay. Sonora, Mexico P. O. A terrific band from the Beach Bum over on the Malecon rocked the crowd all af- ternoon! The Vasquez team and their chickens dropped as the OBSC dancers danced. Annette’s Tiki Bar served beer and margaritas via the trash can, until we drank ‘em dry. Scott’s patio bar kept the upstairs crowd well hydrated, too. Fantastic kitchen help saved the OBSC famous barbecue. Rich Severson, Helen Wilson and Rhea Dugan finished the cooking when the fire pit failed us. So many helped cook and serve lunch; Karen wants to especially thank Don, Billie Jo, Kinta, Kathy Hill, Kathy Barnard, Shirley and Tucson Sue. Many thanks to Ryan and Lew, our tag-team MCs who kept the dancers on their feet and the prizes flowing. Annette and Joanne (they are NOT a couple!) put together nearly 30 fun gift basket baskets for the raffle and the silent auction. The top cash ($300) winner was one of our Lion’s Club guests, Dulce Soto. $200 cash went to Bob & Barbara Dammann and $100 went to long-time OBSC member and former President, Rick Smith. The Dammanns, feeling guilty about their frequent good luck, donated their $200 back to the club. Tom Devlin of Phoenix won the Roger Clyne autographed Mexican Moonshine. This year, we welcomed 6 local sponsors. They each contributed $150 to help with Bash expenses. The 29th Bash spon- sors were Susie Flinn (Coldwell Banker by the sea), Seguros Alejandro Portugal, Satisfied Frog, Resturante Maria- chis y Tequila, Farmcia San Martin and Rocky Point Real Estate and Services. The course was marked the previous day with help from Jeff & Lois Calvert, Chuck & Kim Hemmerlin and Steve Van Holton. Tammie & Lee Weaver and Dave & Kinta Heath sold commemorative T-shirts and ban- danas which many runners wore on the course. Chango’s provided a great taco luncheon and our first stop. Our second stop, on the desert, was the “Train Wrecked” bar thanks to Jennifer from Ran- dy’s beach bar “Wrecked at the Reef”(our fourth stop). Aron Arvisu staffed our third stop the “Dezert Bar” and the clubhouse bar as well. Jello shots were prepared and served by Brad & Kim Johns along the course. Darren Dodd opened up his speedway track for lots of fun on our way back to Cholla and JJ’s Cantina (our final stop). The clubhouse kitchen was expertly staffed by Yovana, Miriam & Mariana Arvisu and Jerry & Karen Cabellero and our regular right-hand man, Jose. Many thanks to Kelly & Terri Ross and Rick & Helen Dahlstrom for three great days of offroad fun!
