IntroductionTwo different approaches of six stroke engines
First approach
There is two additional strokes by the main piston asfifth and sixth stroke
Second approach
It uses a second opposed piston which moves at half
the cyclical rate of the main piston

It supplies air which is used in the fifth and sixth
stroke 0uring the fifth stroke air is sucked into the
cylinder through a reed valve provided on the
secondary air induction line
In the sixth stroke a second reed valve at theexhaust manifold opens and removes the mixture of
air and unburned gases

Second stroke:-
0uring the second stroke) piston moves from B0# to T0#) both the
inlet valve 3,4 and exhaust valve 3114 are closed and the air5fuel mixture is
compressed. The compression ratio of the modified engine is same as that of
the original four stroke 'onda engine 6-1.
Third stroke:-
0uring the third stroke) power is obtained from the engine by igniting
the compressed air5 fuel mixture using a spark plug 31$4. Both valves remain
closed. 7iston moves from T0# to B0#.

Fourth stroke:-
0uring the fourth stroke) the exhaust valve 3114 and the reed valve
32"4 opens to remove the burned gases from the engine cylinder. 7iston moves
from B0# to T0#.
Fifth stroke:-0uring the fifth stroke) the exhaust valve 3114 remains open and the
reed valve 32"4 closes. (resh air from the air filter 32$4 enters the cylinder
through the secondary air induction line 3214 provided at the exhaust manifold
31"4. The reed valve 3224 opens.
Sixth stroke:-
0uring the sixth stroke) the exhaust valve 3114 remains open. The air
sucked into the cylinder during the fifth stroke is removed to the atmosphere
through the exhaust manifold 31"4. The reed valve 32"4 opens and the reed valve
3224 closes.

&onc'usion The six stroke engine modification promises
dramatic reduction of pollution and fuel consumption of aninternal combustion engine. The fuel efficiency of the
engine can be increased and also the valve timing can beeffectively arranged to extract more work per cycle. Betterscavenging is possible as air intake occurs during the fifthstroke and the exhaust during the sixth stroke. 0ue to moreair intake) the cooling system is improved. It enables lowerengine temperature and therefore increases in the overallefficiency.
