The other highlight of 2017 was the signing of the Open Access Agreement between Zambia Railways and Tanzania Zambia Railway Authority (TAZARA) for the two companies to run trains on each other's networks. This will optimize the train operations of the two systems and enable us to deliver goods and services to clients in areas where our railway network could not reach previously.

Further, as ZRL, we continued to represent the Government and shareholders' interests in the transformation process of ZRL. For example we have continued to support reforms by the GRZ such as the introduction of an SI for bulk cargo which will compel bulk transporters of various categories of cargo to transport a minimum of 30% of bulk cargo by railway.
