Siwa & Figli Reedless Accordion

Thank you for purchasing the Siwa & Figli Reedless accordion. This is a state of the art electronic instrument. It looks and feels like a professional piano accordion. It can even sound as many different accordions depending on the selected realistic accordion sounds sampled from various acoustic instruments. In addition, the instrument serves as a multi-channel MIDI controller allowing the performer to sound like a complete orchestra. A list of the main features is provided in the next section. To get the most out of your Siwa & Figli Reedless accordion and to ensure many years of trouble-free service, please read through this Owner’s Manual thoroughly. Before using this instrument, carefully read the “IMPORTANT NOTES”. They provide information concerning the proper operation of the instrument. Be sure to keep this manual in a safe place for future reference.

FEATURES Full-size (41 keys) excellent quality keyboard

The quality of the keyboard sets this instrument apart from any other reedless accordion. The keyboard features wooden foundation, dual rod design, and pearl key tops with smooth round edges. The action has been specially optimized to facilitate virtuoso performance like in jazz style chord progressions and glissando effects as well as fast chromatic runs.

Stradella bass, French bass, and all free-bass systems available (Chromatic-C, Chromatic-B (Russian), and Quint)

Bellows Dynamics The sensitive pressure sensor allows for achieving better expression while performing giving you a natural feel. The instrument behaves very similar to a traditional accordion with real reeds. The slightest pressure fluctuation will result in a sound modulation like you would expect from a reed instrument. The BD can be used also as a volume control of each section.

Volume Sliders for each section for fine real time adjustments

GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Before using this instrument, read the instructions below and the Owner’s Manual.

Connect the mains plug of this model to a mains outlet with a protective ground.

Do not open or perform any internal modifications on the unit.

Do not attempt to repair the instrument or replace parts within it unless authorized by the Accordion Gallery.

Never use or store the instrument in places that are: - Subject to temperature extremes (e.g., direct sunlight in an enclosed vehicle, near a

heating duct, on top of heat-generating equipment) - Damp (e.g., baths, washrooms, on wet floors) - Humid - Exposed to rain - Dusty - Subject to high levels of vibration

Clean only with a dry soft cloth.

When not in use, do not place the instrument vertically due to instability. Be especially careful when the wireless adapter is connected to the lower side of the accordion. It is best to place the accordion on its bass side feet.

The instrument should only be connected to the original Siwa & Figli power supply.

Do not excessively twist or bend the power cord, nor place heavy objects on it. Doing so can damage the cord, producing a short circuit. Damaged cords are fire and shock hazards!

This instrument, either alone or in combination with an amplifier and headphones or speakers, may be capable of producing sound levels that could cause permanent hearing loss. Do not operate for a long period of time at a high volume level or at a level that is uncomfortable.

Do not allow any objects (e.g., flammable material, coins, pins); or liquids of any kind (water, soft drinks, etc.) to penetrate the accordion or the control box.

In households with small children, an adult should provide supervision until the child is capable of following all rules essential for the safe operation of the instrument.

Protect the accordion and the control box from strong impact. (Do not drop them!)

Immediately turn the power and remove the power cord from the outlet in case - The power-supply cord or the plug has been damaged; - Objects have fallen into or liquid has been spilled onto the accordion or the power

supply - The instrument does not appear to operate normally or exhibits a marked change in

performance. Contact the Accordion Gallery for advice how to proceed with the necessary service of the instrument.

Do not force the power cord to share an outlet with an unreasonable number of other devices. Be especially careful when using extension cords — the total power used by all devices you have connected to the extension cord’s outlet must never exceed the power rating watts / amperes) for the extension cord. Excessive loads can cause the insulation on the cord to heat up and eventually melt through.

When connecting/disconnecting cables, grasp the connector itself—never pull on the cable. Please, make sure you unlock the safety bracket on the connector at the accordion side before unplugging it from the instrument.

Try to prevent cords and cables from becoming entangled. Also, all cords and cables should be placed out of the reach of children.

Never place heavy objects on the accordion or the control box.

Never handle the power cord or its plugs with wet hands when plugging into or unplugging from, an outlet or this unit.

If you need to move/transport the instrument, disconnect the power cord and all cords coming from external devices. Use the accessories bag and the accordion soft case to carry the equipment.

IMPORTANT NOTES In addition to the general Safety Instructions, please read and observe the following: Power supply

Do not use this instrument on the same power circuit with any device that will generate line noise (such as an electric motor or variable lighting system).

Before connecting the instrument or other other devices to the control box, turn off the power to all units.

Although the LCD and LEDs are dark when the POWER switch is off, this does not mean that the unit has been completely disconnected from the power source. To turn off the power completely, first turn off the POWER switch on the control box, then unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. For this reason, the outlet to which you connect the power cord’s plug should be one that is within easy reach.

Placement

Using the instrument near power amplifiers (or other equipment containing large power transformers) may induce hum. To alleviate the problem, move the control box farther away from the source of interference.

This instrument may interfere with radio and television reception. Do not use this instrument in the vicinity of such receivers.

Do not place the instrument near devices that produce a strong magnetic field (e.g., loudspeakers).

Noise may be produced if wireless communications devices, such as cell phones, are operated in the vicinity of this unit. Such noise could occur when receiving or initiating a call or while conversing. Should you experience such problems, relocate such wireless devices so they are at a greater distance from this unit or switch them off.

Do not expose the unit to direct sunlight, place it near devices that radiate heat, leave it inside an enclosed vehicle or otherwise subject it to temperature extremes.

To avoid possible breakdown, do not use the unit in a wet area, such as an area exposed to rain or other moisture.

Do not allow rubber, vinyl or similar materials to remain on the instrument for long periods of time. Such objects can discolor or otherwise harmfully affect the finish.

When not in use, do not place the instrument vertically due to instability. Be especially careful when the wireless adapter is connected to the lower side of the accordion. It is best to place the accordion on its bass side feet.

Maintenance

For everyday cleaning wipe the instrument with a soft, dry cloth or one that has been slightly dampened with water.

Never use benzene, thinner, alcohol or solvents of any kind, to avoid the possibility of discoloration and/or deformation.

Use a reasonable amount of care when using the instrument’s buttons, other controls and jacks/connectors. Rough handling can lead to malfunctions.

Please, make sure you unlock the safety bracket on the connector at the accordion side before unplugging it from the instrument.

Inside the accordion there is a rechargeable battery for the wireless transmitter. Please, follow the instructions below to prolong the life of the battery:

To recharge the battery use only the provided charger. It connects to a wall outlet and to the multi-pin data connector on the accordion where you would connect the data cable during normal operation.

Be sure to fully deplete a battery before recharging it for the first time.

Do not overcharge the battery. Use the indicator LED on the charger. Never recharge a battery that is already fully charged.

ACCORDION MIDI CONTROLLER DESCRIPTION

The Siwa & Figli MIDI controller offers 4 independent and polyphonic sections as described below.

Treble A – This section is used exclusively to access the internal sounds of the

instrument. It consists of 12 treble switches (numbered from 0 to 11) and a Palm Master switch. Each switch stores two user presets (programs) that can be activated by pressing the switch once (the corresponding LED will be ON) or twice (the corresponding LED will blink). The performer can have access 26 different accordion or orchestral sounds and effects.

Treble B – This section consists of 12 buttons positioned above the treble switches

and numbered from 0 to 11. These buttons can have multiple functions. They could be could be configured to access the internal sound card, to control an external MIDI module (see the EXTERNAL MIDI MODULE Section for details), or to program the MIDI controller (see the PROGRAMMING Section). The default function of the Treble B section buttons is to allow access to 24 additional user presets selected from the internal Sound Library. Each button stores two presets that can be selected by pressing the button once (solid LED light) or twice (blinking LED).

BASS – This section is positioned above the bass buttons and controls the bass

and counter-bass rows of the accordion. It consists of one white button labelled BK BASS (Bass Bank) and 3 green buttons/switches labelled BASS 1, BASS 2, and BASS 3. There are two bass banks or memory slots. Pressing the BK BASS button toggles between the two memory slots. Each green bass button/switch stores two user presets per memory bank. These bass sounds can be recalled by pressing the button once or twice. This way the performer has real time access to 12 different bass sounds.

CHORDS – This section is positioned above the bass buttons and controls the

chord buttons of the accordion. It consists of one white button labelled BK CHORD / MELODY BASS and four green buttons/switches labelled CHORD 1 to CHORD 4 or MELODY BASS as a group. The names above the buttons correspond to their function in Stradella mode. The names below the buttons correspond to their function in Free-Bass (Melody Bass) Mode. There are two memory banks for the chords section. These memory banks can be accessed by pressing the BK CHORD button. Each of the green chord buttons (switches) stores two user presets (programs) per memory bank. These chords sounds can be recalled by pressing the button once or twice. This way the performer has real time access to 16 different bass sounds. In Free-Bass mode the function of the CHORD section is the same as explained above. However, the outer 4 rows of bass buttons (the Stradella chord buttons) will play single notes. The same user voices/programs will be used both for Stradella chords and Free-Bass single note sounds. Currently, one of the memory banks is programmed with accordion chords (6 accordion chord switches available) and the other one contains orchestral sounds like piano, organ, jazz guitar, strings etc.

FREE BASS / STRADELLA CONVERTER

The Free-Bass Converter section is located at the upper back side of the bass cover

plate, opposite of the air valve button. It consists of 5 buttons with the following labels and functions:

TRAD – Stradella mode. The bass and counter-bass rows play single notes and are

controlled by the BASS section. The remaining 4 rows of buttons play preset chords (major, minor, seventh, and diminished) and are controlled by the CHORDS section.

FRANC – French system. This modified Stradella system is based on the fact that

he diminished chords can be used also as dominant 7th chords. For example, Gdim can be used as C7. In the French accordions the dominant 7th bass row is omitted and the diminished chord row is shifted one position down placing the Gdim in the row of C, so it can be used as C7. The row of dominant 7ths being omitted either makes for a more compact bass button board with five rows of buttons, or the space saved can be occupied by an extra row of counterbasses instead. This new row plays the Minor 3rd. Thus, in the row containing the marked C bass note, you have the normal Major Third counterbass note E, as on the Italian system, and you additionally have the note Eb available in the extra counterbass row, which is the row nearest the bellows. Some variants of this system displace the extra counterbass row by one position (this is our case) but the essential advantage is that the minor third bass note is nearby. In the row of C we have the following buttons: Ab – E – C – Cmaj – Cmin – Gdim (used also as C7).

CHROM – C-System free-bass. The bass and counter-bass rows play single notes

and are controlled by the BASS section. The remaining 4 rows of buttons play single notes and are controlled by the CHORDS section.

RUSSO – Russian Bayan free-bass. The bass and counter-bass rows play single notes and are controlled by the BASS section. The remaining 4 rows of buttons play single notes (inverted B-system with the lowest notes at the bottom of the bass-board) and are controlled by the CHORDS section.

5 - Quint (American) free-bass. The bass and counter-bass rows play single notes and are controlled by the BASS section. The remaining 4 rows of buttons play single notes and are controlled by the CHORDS section. The first two rows of buttons close to the bass switches (normally counter-bass and bass buttons) remain the same. The second two rows (normally major and minor chords) are same as the first 2 but transposed an octave higher. The last two rows of buttons (normally seventh and diminished chords) are repeats another octave up.

The default setting is Stradella Mode (TRAD). To switch to Quint Free-Bass press the

button labelled “5”. Then you can change the sound of free-bass notes using the CHORD section. To switch back to Stradella Mode press “TRAD”.

DIRECT VOLUME CONTROL

The volume of each MIDI channel can be independently and conveniently controlled by the four volume sliders on the grill for Treble A (The treble switches), Treble B (the buttons above the treble switches), Bass, and Chords sections.

The Volume Slider position sets the maximum volume level for the particular section. In addition, if the Bellows Dynamics (see SPECIAL FUCTIONS) for for that section is enabled you can controll the volume in the range from zero to this maximum volume level (determined by the Volume Slider position) using the bellows pressure. If the Bellows Dynamics is disabled the volume level is constant and only determined by the position of the Volume Slider.

If you want to play only Treble A sounds set the Treble B Volume Slider to Zero or vice versa. If an external MIDI module is connected (see USING EXTERNAL MIDI MODULE) the performer can either mix sounds for each section from the built-in sound card and the external MIDI module or play only the external MIDI sounds by setting the accordion Volume sliders to zero. For example, if you would like to use an advanced MIDI arranger with Auto Accompaniment controlled by the CHORD section it may be better to set the Volume Slider for the CHOD section to zero to avoid interference with the auto accompaniment.

SPECIAL FUCTIONS

This section describes the special function buttons. Please, refer to the picture below for the location of each button.

BELLOW – To activate bellows dynamics (volume control through bellows pressure) for more natural expression effects press the corresponding button from the “BELLOW” group on the grill controller. (TREB A, TREB B, CHORD, BASS). The bellows dynamics is active when the corresponding LED is lit up.

EDIT, ENTER – Used for programming the instrument (see PROGRAMMING)

REGIST. – Used to store and recall 12 user configurations of the entire instrument. (See the REGISTRATIONS section below.)

OUT B – Press this button when an external MIDI module is connected to the MIDI control box. Now Treble B section can be configured to control the external MIDI module. This way the performer can overlay sounds from the internal sound card and the external MIDI arranger. (See USING EXTERNAL MIDI MODLUE.)

TRANSPOSE / OCT – This is a dual function button. It allows the performer to transpose the Treble A and Treble B sections of the instrument in any key. In addition, in EDIT mode this button allows for changing the octave of any Treble A or Treble B sound (-1, 0, +1). Press TRANSPOSE followed by pressing the desired key on the treble side. For example, if you would like to play a song in the key of C and prefer the instrument to sound in the key of D# (Treble A and Treble B sections only) press TRANSPOSE and the D# key in the middle of the keyboard. The default setting is middle C on the keyboard. To change the octave of each Treble A/B sound:

1. Select the sound by pressing a Treble A switch of Treble B button. The corresponding LED will be on (solid of blinking depending on the selected preset)

2. Press EDIT. The corresponding LED will start blinking.

3. Press TRANSPOSE/OCT. If you selected a Treble A (B) sound in step 1 then the first two LEDs (corresponding to switches 0 and 1) of Treble A (B) section will start blinking in one of the following patterns:

a) Central (0) octave (default) both LEDs are ON b) Higher (+1) octave (LED 0 is ON and LED 1 is OFF) c) Lower (-1) octave (LED 0 is OFF and LED 1 is ON)

4. To change the octave press Switches 0 or 1 from Treble A section (Buttons 0 or 1 from Treble B section) to alternate between the three octave settings described in 3(a) – 3(c). Confirm the change by playing few notes on the keyboard.

5. Press TRANSPOSE/OCT. The corresponding LED lights up. 6. Press ENTER two times to save the change. At this time all LEDs in the

Special Features group will be OFF.

CONTROL BOX (POWER SUPPLY) DESCRIPTION The VIVO MIDI Control BOX is an important part of the Siwa & Figli Reedless MIDI Accordion Package. This control box has multiple functions as follows: 1. It provides power to the accordion MIDI Controller 2. Works as a Tone Generator. 3. Serves as an interface to connecting with other devices (amplifier, volume pedal,

special effect pedals, headphones, and external MIDI device)

1 – Power Switch Button (pressed = Power ON) 2 – Power status LED (lights up in red when power in ON) 3 to 5 – Communications status LEDs for MIDI Out 2, MIDI Out 1, and MIDI In 6 – Accordion data cable connector 7 – Headphones jack (stereo)

USING YOUR REEDLESS MIDI ACCORDION

Your new Siwa & Figli accordion has been fully programmed and customized to your requests. It is ready to be used right out of the box. However, for a more rewarding experience we recommend that you read through the entire Owner’s Manual to understand all features and to use the full capabilities of the instrument. Setup Diagram

Power-UP Sequence

1. Make sure all devices are powered down. 2. Make the connections as shown in the Setup Diagram. (Please, note that you

can use headphones connected to the PHONES socket of the VIVO Control Box front panel. In that case there is no need to connect the “OUT L/R” socket to an external amplifier.)

3. Press the Power Button on the VIVO Control Box. It remains in depressed position and the status LED will light up in red showing the instrument receives power. Some of the LEDs on the accordion grill panel will also light up.

4. With the Master Volume all the way down, turn on the amplifier. 5. Adjust the amplifier volume. 6. Start playing the accordion.

To switch the power off follow the procedure below:

1. Turn the volume of the amplifier down or turn the amplifier off. (This will avoid a noise when the accordion power it switched off)

2. Press the Power Button. It returns in normal position and the status LED goes dark.

3. If you don’t intend to use the accordion for more than few hours it is recommended to unplug the AD/DC adapter from the wall outlet.

Playing the accordion in Wireless Mode

1 – Multi pin Data Cable with lock bracket on the accordion end connector (connects the

accordion to the “TO ACCORDION” socket on the VIVO Control Box) 2 – Battery charger/adapter (connects to the accordion multi-pin socket) 3 – Wireless Mode Accordion connector (connects to the accordion multi-pin socket instead of

the Multi-pin Data Cable). Please, note this connector has an ON/OFF switch and LED to display the power status. Slide the switch to OFF position (LED OFF) while not using the accordion to save the battery.

4 – Wireless Model Connector for the VIVO Control Box (connects to the “TO ACCORDION” socket)

To use the wireless feature of your instrument simply replace the Data MIDI Cable with the two Wireless Connectors (refer to the picture above):

1. Turn down the volume on the amplifier. 2. Switch off the VIVO Control Box. 3. Disconnect the Data MIDI Cable 4. Connect the wireless male-type connector to the “TO ACCORDION” socket on

the Vivo Control Box. 5. Connect the female-type wireless connector to the accordion socket. The

wireless connector has a lock bracket (the same as on the MIDI cable accordion connector and the battery charger accordion connector) to secure it in the socket. Slide the lock bracket against the connector body in order to connect or disconnect.

6. Move the power switch on the accordion wireless connector to ON position. The LED on the connector will go on.

7. Turn on the power to the VIVO Control Box. 8. Adjust the volume on the amplifier and play the accordion. You can move up to

300 feet away from the VIVO Control box depending on the obstacles in the area like walls, furniture etc.

When the wireless transmitter battery is fully discharged it can be recharged as described below:

1. Power off the VIVO Control Box. 2. Slide the power switch on the accordion wireless connector to OFF position. 3. Disconnect the wireless connector. 4. Connect the Battery Charger to the accordion socket. 5. Connect the Battery Charger to a wall outlet. 6. Charge the battery until the LED on the Charger turns green. Don’t overcharge

the battery. 7. After the battery is fully charged unplug the Charger from the wall outlet and then

disconnect it from the accordion. Press on the lock bracket to release the connection.

To extend the battery life it is recommended to discharge it completely before the next charging cycle at least during the first several cycles.

PROGRAMMING

The accordion has been pre-programmed to allow access to the most popular orchestral sounds. However, the user could change all presets. The general sequence is given below. Particular examples will be provided as needed.

1. Select the preset you want to change/program (could be in any section – Treble A/B, Chord, or Bass).

2. Press EDIT. The EDIT-LED will begin to flash. 3. Use the buttons from Treble B section labelled from 0 to 9 as a dial pad to enter

the sound bank number. For example, for bank 0 press button 0; for bank 11 press “11” (press button 1 two times).

4. Press ENTER. The ENTER-LED is switch ON. 5. Use the buttons from Treble B section labelled from 0 to 9 as a dial pad to enter

the program (sound) number within the selected sound bank. For example, for program number 0 press “0”; for program number 23 press “23”; for program number 117 press “117”.

6. Enable or disable the Bellows Dynamics as desired (see SPECIAL FUCTIONS above).

7. Press ENTER. The ENTER-LED is switch will turn OFF. The sound change is saved.

REGISTRATIONS

The MIDI controller comes with 12 pre-programmed registrations that can be changed by the user. A registration is a complete set of MIDI parameters including the sounds assigned to each section, corresponding volume, octave, and special effects (like bellows dynamics). This is a very useful feature allowing the performer an easy real-time access to different instrument settings optimized for various music styles. For example, one can configure Registration 0 as an accordion (accordion bass, accordion chords, accordion treble sounds) and Preset 3 as piano (piano bass, piano chords, and piano treble sounds). Then with a press of a button all sections of the instrument can be changed from producing accordion sounds to producing piano sounds. Programming the Registrations

1. Configure the instrument for a particular music style (song) as explained above. a) Select the corresponding sounds for all sections that you would like to use

(Treble A, Treble B, BASS, CHORDS) b) Optimize the volume of each section using the Volume Sliders on the grill. c) Enable or disable Bellows Dynamics for each section as desired. For

example, when using an orchestral accompaniment in the BASS/CHORDS section you may decide to select a constant volume level for these sections (Bellow Dynamics OFF). Alternatively, when mixing accordion sounds from Treble A and orchestral sounds from Treble B you may decide to control the volume of the accordion (Treble A) with the bellows and keep the volume of the other instruments (Treble B) at a constant level. This way you can fade the accordion in and out using the bellows.

2. Press REGIST. The corresponding LED will start blinking. 3. PRESS EDIT. The EDIT-LED starts blinking.

4. Choose one of the 12 presets of Treble B section where you wish to save the registration and press the corresponding button. (Make sure you don’t over write a registration that you like to keep.) The LEDs for the REGIST and EDIT buttons turn OFF and the instrument settings are saved.

Real Time Use of Registrations

1. Press REGISTR. The REGISTR-LED is ON. 2. Press the Treble B button where the desired instrument settings are stored

You are ready to perform. The volume for each section will be set to the level used to save the registration regardless of the position of the Volume Sliders. Using the Volume Sliders at this time (after recalling a registration) will override the saved volume levels. For example, if the registration has been saved with Treble A volume set to zero after recalling the registration the Treble A section volume will be zero even if the corresponding volume slider is at its max level (as may have been used earlier). Moving this volume slider will activate the Treble A sound adding it to the recalled registration. While in Registrations Mode (he REGISRT-LED ON) the Treble B buttons can be used only to recall different registrations and will not work as Treble-B sound presets. To exit Registration Mode press REGISTR again. The LED will be OFF confirming you are able to use the Treble B section to select the individual treble sounds. Copying / Modifying a Registration The performer may want to modify an existing registration and save it as a new registration. For example, the accompaniment may be kept and the solo instruments in the Treble A/B sections changed.

1. Select the registration you want to modify or copy (“Real Time Use of Registrations”).

2. Make any necessary changes or proceed to the next step if you want to create a copy of the registration.

3. Make sure the Volume Sliders for each section match the volume levels as desired.

4. Save the current instrument settings as a new registration using an available Treble B memory slot as described in “Programming the Registrations”.

Examples for using Treble A sounds To play the Accordion Jazz Master press the Palm Master switch two times. To play the Accordion Harmonium switch pres Treble A switch labeled “4” once. The corresponding LED will be switched ON. To play Accordion + Mandolin press Treble A switch labeled “8” two times. The corresponding LED will blink. You can adjust the maximum volume level with the Treble A Volume Slider. In addition, if the Bellows Dynamics (BD) for Treble A is enabled you can controll the volume in the range from zero to this maximum volume level (determined by the Volume Slider position) using the bellows pressure. If the BD is disabled the volume level is constant and only determined by the position of the Volume Slider.

The sounds from Group 1 (Bass Memory Bank 1) can be selected by pressing any of the green BASS buttons one or two times. To select the sounds from Goup 2 (Bass Memory Bank 2) first press the white button labeled “BK BASS” and then press any of the green BASS buttons one ot two times. Pressing any green BASS button repeatedly will toggle between the two saved bass sounds within the current Bass Memory Bank (Group). Pressing the white “BK BASS” button toggles between Bass Memory Banks 1 and 2. Examples for selecting BASS sounds If you just turned on the instrument and like to select the Accordion Master bass sound (BASS Preset Number 1) press once the green button labeled “Bass 1” from the BASS section of the instrument. The same procedure applies is you are using any other bass sound from Goup 1. To select the Acoustic Bass sound (BASS Preset Number 4):

a) If you are currently using the Accordion Master bass sound (BASS Preset Number 1) press once the green button labeled “Bass 1” from the BASS section of the instrument.

The Registrations offer a convenient and fast way to configure the instrument for a particular music style. Instead of selecting the sounds for each individual section by pressing many buttons you can simply recall the desired setting of all parameters once they have been saved as a Registration. While in Registrations Mode (the REGISRT-LED is ON) the Treble B buttons can be used only to recall different registrations and will not work as Treble-B sound presets. To exit Registration Mode press REGISTR again. The LED will be OFF confirming you are able to use the Treble B section to select the individual treble sounds. After exiting Registrations Mode the sounds in all sections remain as in the last used Registration. This allows the performer to modify only a particular sound while keeping most of the setup unchanged. Examples for using Registrations Assume you just played an accordion a jazz tune. Now you want to play an Italian song that will require changing the sounds in all sections. To save time you simply select Registration number 5 (Accordion + Violin with Double Bass and String Chords):

a) If you are in Registrations Mode (LED ON) simply press Treble B button “5”. b) If you are not in Registrations Mode (LED OFF) press REGISTR (LED turns ON)

and then press Treble B button “5”.

PROGRAMMING EXAMPLES To disable bellows dynamics on a particular program or registration:

1. Select the desired program (sound) in any of the sections (Treble A, Treble B, BASS, or CHORD) or registration through one of the presets.

2. Press EDIT. The EDIT-LED will start blinking. 3. Disable bellows dynamics for any or all of the sections by pressing the

corresponding button(s) from the BELLOW section. The corresponding LED will be switches OFF.

4. Press ENTER two times to save the changes. At this time all LEDs in the Special Functions section will be OFF.

Configure Switch 1 from Treble A2 section as “Accordion Jazz Bassoon” with active Bellow Dynamics.

1. Find the corresponding sound in the Sound Library. The “Accordion Jazz Bassoon” is store in sound bank 0 (SIWA FAVOUTIRE Sounds) as Program Number 18.

2. Press switch 1 from the Treble A section two times (therefore the designation “Treble A2” or the second set of Treble A user presets). The corresponding LED will blink.

3. Select the preset you want to change/program (could be in any section – Treble A/B, Chord, or Bass).

4. Press EDIT. The EDIT-LED will begin to flash. 5. Use the buttons from Treble B section labelled from 0 to 9 as a dial pad to enter

the sound bank number. In the current example press “0”. 6. Press ENTER. The ENTER-LED is switch ON. 7. Use the buttons from Treble B section labelled from 0 to 9 as a dial pad to enter

the program (sound) number within the selected sound bank. In our example press “18”.

8. Make sure the Bellows Dynamics for Treble A is enabled (the default setting). The corresponding LED should be ON. In that case move to the next step. If this LED is OFF, press the Treble A button from the BELLOW group to turn the LED ON.

9. Press ENTER. The ENTER-LED is switch will turn OFF. The sound change is saved.

USING EXTERNAL MIDI MODULE The Siwa & Figli Reedless accordion is a self-contained instrument that offers a rich Sound Library and can be played without any additional MIDI modules. However, the instrument can be used to control an external MIDI module/arranger. Here are several scenarios in which this feature may be useful:

1. The performer likes to further orchestrate a piece and use simultaneously sounds and effect from the internal sound card and from an optional external MIDI arranger.

2. The performed likes to use rhythms and auto accompaniment offered by the state of the art MIDI arrangers

To use the instrument with an external MIDI module:

1. Setup the Siwa & Figli Reddless accordion as a self-contained instrument (see

USING YOUR REEDLESS MIDI ACCORDION for more details): a) Connect the accordion to the power supply/control box either with the multi-

pin data cable or with the wireless adapters. b) Connect the Audio Output from the control box to a multichannel amplifier.

For best effect use the provided stereo cable. c) Connect the power adapter to the control box and to a standard 110 V wall

outlet. 2. Connect the MIDI Out 2 port of the Siwa & Figli power supply/control box to a

MIDI In of the external MIDI module (Ketron, Orla, Roland etc.). You can use MIDI In 1 to access the General MIDI sounds of the module or MIDI In 2 (Keyboard) to access the full orchestration in arranger mode.

3. Connect the Audio Output of the external MIDI module to an available channel of your amplifier.

4. With the Master Volume down to zero power up the Amplifier. 5. Power up the external MIDI module. 6. Turn On the power to the Siwa & Figli VIVO control box by pressing the white

button on the front panel. 7. Adjust the Volume levels on the amplifier. At this time the accordion can be

played independent of the external MIDI module. 8. To access the external MIDI module press “OUT B” button from the SPECIAL

FUCTIONS section.

Now the Treble B channel data is switched from the built-in sound card to MIDI Out 2 and will access/control the external MIDI module. The data from the BASS and CHORD MIDI channels is shared between the internal sound card and the external MIDI module. Use Treble B section to select sounds from the external module. Use Treble A section as usual to access the internal sound card. The BASS and CHORD sections will recall sounds from both the internal sound card and the external module. To avoid conflict with it is recommended to set the BASS and CHORD Volume Sliders to zero when using external MIDI module.
