This is a brief guideline of roles and responsibilities to give a good understanding of what’s required from them.

Site Welding Inspector:

1. Monitor individual performance at all times and qualify welding procedures and welders on site.

2. Ensure that construction plan is adhered to in line with standards and codes. 3. Actively investigate enhancements to procedures and processes that achieve improvements

in performance, job satisfaction, and productivity. 4. Perform, supervise or oversee assigned welding and welding-related inspection activities 5. Verify welding procedure qualification compliance 6. Witness Welder Performance Qualifications 7. Review the welding procedure specification and inspection requirements prior to welding. 8. Conduct 100% visual and in-process welding inspections at fabrication workshops and

project sites in accordance with the contract specifications and applicable codes. · Prior to welding, verify the specified base metal(s) and material heat numbers are

correct to traceability records. · Prior to welding verify welder personnel qualifications · Prior to welding verify joint geometry and fit-up are as per WPS. · Prior to and during welding, verify the specified welding consumables(s) used are

correct. · During welding monitor in-process weld inspections · After welding conduct final 100% visual inspection of welded joints · After Welding confirm any required repairs and NDE for surface defects identified. · Consult with Client and select joints for specific NDE

9. Monitoring and inspect all work performed by welders and/or welding operators and update performance tackers.

10. Inspect and evaluate all welds according to specified inspection procedures, standards, codes, and drawings.

11. Record all welding inspection results that were witnessed and prepare associated reports for database updates.

12. Mark joints that require NDT and raise / issue NDT requests to site NDT contractor13. Submit completed IWR to administrator for data base update14. Maintain and update master weld maps 15. Verify implementation of non-destructive (NDE) and destructive test procedures and

methods 16. Review NDE results and verify compliance 17. Perform audits of welding traceability and consumable control 18. Ensure weekly and daily NDE requirements, targets are achieved and ensure that Inspection

and Test activities are carried out progressively and that the required % of NDT is met. 19. Recommend methods for improving quality and productivity. 20. Minimise rework to maintain/reduce budget.
