SISU Rock gravel truck is based on a robust Y-type framework. Alternatives are the highframe especially designed for heavy tasks and the traditional solution based on theframe and the subframe. Both frame alterna-tives are light but very torsion-rigid.The lightness of the truck improves the pay-load capacity and the torsion-rigidity in turn improves durability and makes the vehicle stable to maneuver.

SISU offers various drive axle configura-tions. SISU axles endure continuous maxi-mum load and transfer the torque efficiently to the wheels. SISU Rock can also beequipped with a steering bogie axle, which provides agility for example when drivingin city areas. Sisu is the only manufacturer offering a driven liftable last axle with drive disconnection, which is also available for SISU Rock. SISU Rock is equipped with a double-barrel, high-pressure tipper attached straight to the frame. We can offer appropri-ate platform alternatives for each type of soil. Each accessory fits flexibly to the cor-responding structure in the vehicle.

SISU Crane is the only crane truck on the market, providing a full 360 degrees of lifting capacity. The frame of a SISU Crane is designed for crane operation and provides maximum lifting capacity in all directions.

The frame, designed for crane operation, has round intermediate bearers making it very torsion-rigid. The crane mounting plate and stabilizers are installed at the factory assembly line. Expensive and time-consuming retrofitting and frame reinforcement is unnecessary. The truck frame length and wheelbase can be selected according to the required platform length. Various alternatives for wheelbases and drive axle configurations are available.

Sisu Auto Oy has decades of experience in manufac-turing road maintenance vehicles for the extreme Finnish climate. The knowledge and expertise we have gathered through the years is combined in the new SISU Works road maintenance vehicle. It is a multifunctional vehicle suitable for productive work from the moment it leaves the factory. SISU Works is a forerunner of road maintenance vehicles. The road maintenance equipment installed in a SISU Works truck has been designed in close co-operation withprofessionals in the field and is dimensioned for modern road maintenance devices. A complete road

maintenance hydraulics system is available for the factory-ready vehicle . Plough bumper hydraulics with the required electrical connections are also factory-installed in the correct locations. Connections for brush and washing installations are available for summer operations. Once you turn on the engine, the vehicle hydraulics are ready for action. The SISU Works platform is dimensioned for road maintenance equipment. Changing the equipment is quick and simple. In each SISU Works, special attention has been paid to the driver’s working conditions. The Pre-mium driver’s cab provides good visibility around the

vehicle and the dashboard controls are easy to reach. The functions of the road maintenance hydraulics are controlled via an ergonomically located control panel, which contains all required switches. The seat is provided with versatile adjustment possibili-ties, which help drivers of various size and weight to easily find the driving position best suited for them. SISU TIMBER

SISU Timber is a factory-ready timber truck. The SISU Timber truck quality is based on the unique know-how of the special requirements of timber transports in extreme arctic conditions. In difficult conditions and with a heavy load the frame is of utmost impor-tance. The frame of a SISU Timber truck is provided with excellent torsion and flexural rigidity qualities, which ensure stable maneuverability irrespective of the load. Even unloaded, the grip of a SISU Timber is excellent, since the sturdy frame will distribute

engine power efficiently to the ground via the drive axles. The SISU Timber is available as 6x2 or 6x4. In both versions the last axle can be lifted even when the truck is loaded. This, combined with wide front wheel turning makes the truck very agile. The front suspension with extra long leafs increases stability and driving comfort. A strong frame, superb drive axles and suspension ensure outstanding maneuverability. Everythingrequired for operating the crane and binding the

load has been factory-installed. In addition, all chassis components, pipes and tubes, the cooling system and the fuel tank are protected against dirt and ground contact. When designing a SISU Timber, the vehicle’s technical qualities and the driver’s working conditions were both taken into consid-eration. Work safety as well as the driver’s cab space and functions have been considered from the driver’s point of view. The spacious cab has been designed to be suitable for both driving and taking care of office work. The arched dashboard also provides desk space. Thanks to the flexible produc-tion method, SISU customers can order precisely what they need. Sisu Auto provides all factory-installations and maintenance.

THE NEW PREMIUM DRIVER’S CAB – COMFORT AND SAFETY

The Premium cab provides the driver with comfort and proper work ergonomics.Thanks to the new SISU cab design, the driver’s driving position is ergonomically correct. Various individual adjustments of the driver’s seat increase comfort.The elegant dashboard is arched, making all the required controls easy to reach. The operating switches are located under the steering wheel and everything is easily found and within reach. This means that the ergonomics is improved and the driver can concentrate fully on driving. The on-board information system is provided with an an-tireflection display and each cab accessory is factory fitted. The durability of the driver’s cab is guaranteed by the strong galvanized

structure, the five-stage corrosion preven-tion and the carefully finished paintwork. The cab is available in two different versions, both with excellent storage compartments and a bed. The high-roof version can be fit-ted with two beds with spring mattresses. Adjustable spotlights and a calm colour scheme create a pleasant atmosphere in the driver’s cab.

The integrated spoilers, headlights and the imposing front grille have a modern design. The surface of the aerodynamically designed mirrors is large and provides excellent visibility. There is two front bumper alter-natives: a road bumper or an off-road bumper provided with a flexible lower footstep.

Sisu Defence Oy has a new family of SISU ETP off-road trucks with mine and ballistic protection, all-wheel drive and airtight cab-ins enabling the use of NBC protection. The SISU ETP range includes 10x10, 8x8, 6x6 and 4x4 off-road trucks. SISU ETP trucks have

superior off and on road mobility, efficient load handling and high payload capacity even in demanding conditions. The most robust version in the Sisu Defence range is the 5-axle SISU 10x10 off-road truck, designed to carry a 26 meter long pioneer bridge. The SISU 8x8 has a hook lift integrated in the body enabling quick loading of platforms and containers even in the field. This integra-tion gives the truck a low centre of gravity

and a low overall height. With a standard 1CC container, the height of the vehicle is less than four metres. The 8x8 can also be transported by a C-130 Hercules aircraft. Sisu Defence uses Caterpillar engines in its off-road trucks. The engines meet the Euro 4 emissions requirements.

1931–1933 O/Y Suomen Autoteollisuus A/B (Finnish Automobile Industry) is founded and a competition on inventing a name for the make was won by the Finnish name SISU. Serial production of the vehicles commences. Tor Nessling is appointed managing director and for four decades, Sisu develops and produces trucks superior to its competitors under his guidance.

1936 Export to Estonia is launched.

1949 The first factory-ready Sisu trucks with pickup and tail lift are manufactured.

1958 The legendary SISU bogie lift is introduced in a SISU 6x2 truck. The successful concept is still in production.

Sisu’s over 75 year long history includes severalgroundbreaking innovations. Since 1931, Sisu hasbeen one of the most appreciated commercial vehicle brands.

1960 Sisu de Colombia Limitada delivers the first 33 Kontio- Sisu vehicles to Colombia, starting large-scale export to South America. 1962 The Sisu KB-112 is the first European truck equipped with a hydraulically tipped cab entered into serial production.

1964 The off-road military truck KB-45, is introduced. Over 500 units are produced until 1982.

1965 As the first European truck manufacturer, Sisu intro - duces reinforced plastic hoods and front mudguards in bonneted trucks. 1970 Sisu introduces the rigid frame concept with closed profile cross members.

1979 Export of truck cabs is started. 1980 The S-series, which will later be awarded is introduced. The first model is SK 150. The first

prototypes of military vehicles, Pasi and Masi, are made. These vehicles gain large-scale success serving UN peace forces worldwide.

1981 Oy Suomen Autoteollisuus Ab celebrates its 50th anniversary. Oy Sisu-Auto Ab is adopted as the new name.

1985 Sisu Racing joins the FIA truck racing, winning the European championships in 1991, 1992, and 1993.

1988 Production of the 5-axle truck is started. 1991 As the only manufacturer Sisu introduces a 460mm high frame with integrated body components replacing the use of sub frames. 1994 Disconnection of the last axle is taken into serial production.

1995 The first generation E-series equipped with Sisu’s own cab is introduced.

2001 In connection with Sisu’s 70th anniversary, the 50 000th Sisu vehicle is handed over to the customer. The Y-frame concept for improved stability and rigidity becomes standard in all SISU trucks.

2004 Sisu Auto specializes in factory-ready trucks. Sisu’s exports increase significantly expanding into Switzerland and Abu Dhabi.

2005 At the end of the year, Sisu introduces the new C500, R500, and C600 models. 2006 Sisu celebrates its 75th anniversary as a company and a brand. Sisu introduces the new model family specializing in the Crane, Rock, Roll, Timber and Works applications.

2007 Sisu re-launches Russian operations delivering 95 factory-ready SISU Timber combinations. Sisu Defence Oy is founded specializing in military vehicles.
