The LMPTb, LMPTw, LBBPc, UPEUc, and FANc are used as examples.

In co-RRU mode, the BBU and the RRU are connected only in a dual-star topology. The RRU is connected to basebandprocessing boards for different modes in the BBU using two CPRI ports.

An LBBPc provides six CPRI ports. However, only the CPRI0, CPRI1, and CPRI2 ports are used in the typical configurationsof a WiMAX-LTE BS in co-RRU mode.

Configure the DCDU based on onsite situations.

Install swappableoptical modules• Use either the Ethernet cable or optical fiber to connect

the transmission equipment or gateway.• Install swappable optical modules before installing optical

fibers. The performance of an optical module that isexposed to the air for more than 20 minutes may be

abnormal. Therefore, you must insert an fiber optic cableinto an unpacked optical module within 20 minutes.

• Confirm that the FE/GE Ethernet cable is a shieldstraight-through cable.

Ground the shield layer of an FE/GE Ethernet cable if an FE/GE Ethernet cable is used in an APM30H orTMC11H. For details about the grounding, see the description below.

ground clip

Install a ground clip on an FE/GE Ethernet cable at proper positionwithin 1 m (3'-3 3/8") from the cabinet cable outlet.

1. Determine the position for grounding the FE/GE Ethernet cable, and

strip off a sheath of about 40 mm (1 9/16") to expose the shield layer.2. Loosen the screws on the ground clip, and route the FE/GE cable

through the clip.

3. Confirm that the shield layer of the FE/GE Ethernet cable is in fullcontact with the ground clip, and tighten the screws on the clip.

• Install swappable optical modules before installing optical fibers. The performanceof an optical module that is exposed to the air for more than 20 minutes may beabnormal. Therefore, you must insert an fiber optic cable into an unpacked opticalmodule within 20 minutes.• Connect the longer exposed end of the optical fiber to the BBU and wrap the endwith a tube, and connect the shorter exposed end to the RRU.

CPRI optical fiber

Install hot-swappableoptical modules.

• Ground the GPS surge protector if the BBU is installed in a 19 inch cabinet.• If the PGND cable for the GPS surge protector is grounded nearby. If no ground bar is available nearby, connectthe PGND cable to the ground screw for the BBU. Note that two OT terminals can be connected to the ground

screw.• If the cross-sectional area of the PGND cable is 6 mm2 (0.01 in.2), install an OT terminal to each end of thePGND cable.

Measure the VSWR of the antenna system using aBroadband Site Master.

Measure the VSWR at the point where the antenna

system is connected to the RF port on the RRU. Connect

the antenna system to the RF port on the RRU only

when the VSWR of the antenna system is lower than 1.5.

Do not connect the antenna system to theRRU if the VSWR of the antenna system ishigher than or equal to 1.5.

• When the distance between the RRU3232 and the APM30H ranges from 60 m (196'-10 3/16'') to180 m (590'-6 5/8''), install an outdoor junction box on the RRU side.

• Confirm that the cross-sectional area of the power cable between the outdoor junction box and theDCDU or APM30H is 10 mm2 (0.02 in.2 or 7 AWG).

• Confirm that the cross-sectional area of the power cable between the outdoor junction box and theRRU is 3.3 mm2 (0.01 in.2 or 12 AWG), and the length of the cable ranges from 3 m (9'-10 1/8") to5 m (16'-4 3/4'').

Hoist the RRU3232 and mount ing k its onto a tower.

Bind the RRU and the mounting kits using a sling.

• Protect the RRU from colliding with the tower whenhoisting it.

• Ensure that the diameters for the lifting sling and tractionsling are about 20 mm (0 13/16'') and are less than 25 mm(0 1").

• Ensure that the ropes bear a weight more than four timesthe weight of an RRU.

• Installation engineer A climbs the tower, secures a fixedpulley to the support on the tower platform, and then

inserts a lifting sling through the fixed pulley.• Installation engineer C ties the RRU and mounting kits

using the lifting sling following the instructions in thefigure, and then ties a knot at the RRU handle using atraction sling.

• Installation engineer B pulls down the lifting sling.Installation engineer C pulls out the traction sling toprevent the RRU and the mounting kits from collidingwith the tower.

• Installation engineer A holds on to the RRU and themounting kits, and then loosens the knot to release theitems.

• The previous hoisting method is for reference only.
