Saturdays of each month. John
Kuyper will adjust the schedule
and you can plan on these as our
targets for the outings until further
notice. So here is a summary of
when the outings will be held:
Executive Course outings
will be on all Tuesdays plus two
Sundays each month.
18 Hole Outings will be on the 2nd
and 4th Saturdays of each month.
Nine and Dine will be held
each Wednesday through the
month of September unless other-
wise notified (like the course
having to do maintenance as is the
case on June 13 and 27).
PC Golf will remain on each
Monday. NOTE: this outing can
use a few more players so please
contact Bill Breadon if you wish
to play.
Twi-light golf will be on
dates published at least a month in
advance.
I think that covers everything on
golf. Please give us your feed-
back on where and what you pre-
fer in these outings, so we can do
our best to match your wishes.
Appreciate your help!
If you would like to have an out-
ing, not necessarily golf, please
contact me and I will work with
the Communications Committee
to offer it to all the members.
These may be trips for sightsee-
ing, theater, casino, or whatever
else you might like to plan and
then act as event coordinator. So,
if anyone has any ideas, please
bring them forward for all to en-
joy!
We look forward to seeing all of
you in the near future at one of
our many outings. May your golf
game be great, but more impor-
tantly, may it also be fun! See
you on the course.
I hope every-
one had a safe
and happy
Memorial Day
and you’re
ready for sum-
mer here in
The Villages. When you par-
ticipate in any outings, please
be aware that proper hydrating
is essential to avoid heat stroke.
And, it is best not to drink alco-
holic beverages, since they tend
to speed up dehydration. No
more comments from Doctor
Bob, but please be aware and
drink plenty of water while
avoiding too much sun.
At the end of May we held our
second club meeting at our new
Sea Breeze home. Our speaker,
Tom Talbott from the Palmer
Golf Academy, presented on
golf course rules and courtesy.
Tom’s style made the presenta-
tion informative and humorous.
I would like to note some basic
things that should be in every-
one’s mind when they play golf.
First, be aware of where your
foursome is in relation to the
group ahead of you. Do not fall
more than half a hole behind.
Speed of play is essential to
give other Village residents the
opportunity to complete their
round of golf in a reasonable
amount of time. Second, be
courteous to others in your four-
some so that noise is held to a
minimum when someone is
about to hit their shot. Also, do
not walk in anyone’s line to the
cup when all of the group has
reached the green. These few
things will make golf more
pleasant for your foursome as
well as those playing behind
you.
I talked of sending a voting
ballot to all members of the club
on two topics. Those were
whether we should hold
monthly or bi-monthly meet-
ings, and whether we should
alter our policy on allowing
couples to be paired together at
all outings. Since there was
mixed feedback, it was decided
by the Steering Committee to do
the following and avoid a vote:
1) I will approach the Recrea-
tion Department and attempt to
get our Sea Breeze room
monthly. I will advise all mem-
bers when I receive the depart-
ment’s response if we will
switch to a monthly meeting.
These meetings will remain non
-food meetings. Except, of
course, if you bring drinks and
snacks for yourself.
2) The policy will remain in
effect that limits couples from
playing together except for
Executive Course cart scram-
bles, all Nine and Dine outings,
and the Twi-Light golf events
especially since the latter two
events are of a social nature and
not competitive.
Since we hope to move to
monthly meetings, we have
appointed three members of the
Steering Committee to head up
the Social Committee. They are
Linda Hunter, Chair; Cris Stel-
ling; and John Green who ask
that each of you contribute ideas
and/or time so that future meet-
ings will have both business and
fun for everyone. They can be
reached by going to the
www.sgvclub.com web site
where their email addresses are
available. Please assist them as
much as possible. Remember,
this is your club and our objec-
tive is to make it enjoyable for
all members.
There was much discussion
regarding golfing activities of
the club. It was decided to
leave everything as is except
that 18 hole championship golf
will be switched, starting in
July, to the second and fourth

Minutes
The bi-monthly
meeting of the Sin-
gles Golfers of The
Villages was opened
at 6:30pm with the
Pledge of Allegiance.
Linda Hunt introduced guest speaker, Tom
Talbott, a PGA Golf Instructor at The Vil-
lages Golf Academy. Tom addressed the
group for the next hour entertaining us with
anecdotes about the game of golf, its rules,
and etiquette. In taking questions from the
floor he stressed the need to be courteous,
with civility as the key to good play. Keep-
ing up with play is necessary but you
should play in your own game. You should
respect the game but overall have fun and
be recreational. In closing Tom invited the
group to attend the Summer Sizzler event –
three 30-minutes lessons for $130. Hand-
outs on the Villages Golf Academy, the
Good Golf Guide and Golfing in the Vil-
lages were provided for members.
Linda briefly addressed the group regarding
“Easter Seals,” a charity formed to support
the Adult Day Health Care Center. Cur-
rently there is no place in The Villages serv-
ing this group. She asked members to com-
plete a questionnaire designed to assess
Villagers needs.
Bob Miotke continued the meeting and
stressed the need to keep the pace up when
playing. He solicited questions about out-
ings and golf trips outside the Villages.
John Kuyper also spoke on the speed of
play suggesting that foursomes watch each
other’s balls.
The first twi-light golf will be this Saturday
at 5pm for $6 on Championship courses.
Like handicap players will be teamed to-
gether. No “gaming” or “designed” eating
is planned. You may play as many holes as
possible beginning at 5pm.
Championship offsite is planned with
three outings coming up. It will be “play
your own ball” with no scrambles at this
time.
A survey was sent to 120 members
asking about golf preferences but to date no
adequate response has been seen with only
30 responders.
There are only 16-20 golfers for 18-
hole Championship play
32-26 golfers have expressed interest in
Executive golf with play on Sunday and
Tuesday. Again, play own ball and no
scrambles are planned.
There have been many hole-in-ones
among the membership!!
This summer, as the weather becomes hotter,
Executive golf may begin earlier in the
morning
Bob questioned members on the twi-light
games being scheduled on different days. By
a show of hands members preferred to pick
one day and stay with it. This will help their
scheduling while providing exposure to dif-
ferent Championship courses.
The recently sent survey has shown no
marked trends in 18-hole play. We may go
to Saturday play.
Priority golf is scheduled on Monday
(currently you need not be a priority mem-
ber)
Tuesday and Sunday play is on Executive
courses
Wednesday is 9 & dine at Cane Gardens
Twi-light golf - specific evening has yet to
be determined
The golf committee is striving to find a
pattern so everyone can play what they want,
when they want. If many want to play they
may need to go off site to get good tee times.
Check the club website: sgvclub.com to
sign up for play and see new events
Since club emails have been frequently
designated as spam, the website is the best
way to keep informed.
If you need to make changes, cancella-
tions, additions to golf schedules see the
website. If tee time has already been con-
firmed, contact John for these changes so
someone else may be able to get in.
Ballots will be sent regarding frequency
of club meetings
Couples pairings- by-law was put in
place by Steering Committee for the near
term. Does it need to be addressed again?
The rule was made because it was difficult to
make pairings equal if couples played to-
gether. This will be discussed in next
Steeering Committee meeting and, if recom-
mended, the question will be put out to
membership 9 & dine this week was on time
and service at dinner was very good. Walk-
ons can be accepted but sign up is preferred.
Currently there is play on two nines.
Many thanks to Linda and John for
creating and maintaining the club website.
Three 50-50 drawings were held for $20,
$22 and $25 respectively.
The meeting was closed at 8:30pm.

SGV summer TWILIGHT plans
The Villages Championship 18 hole golf
courses offer a summer special program
of TWILIGHT golf from June 1 to Sept
1. This is unlimited holes of golf for $6
starting at 5 PM every day. Singles Golf-
ers of the Villages will try to set-up a
sign-up for specific days during the
TWILIGHT period. We will try to group
foursomes by listed handicaps for speed
of play. Note, that your foursome can
play as many holes as you desire; some
play just 9 holes, some play 15 holes,
some play 18 holes, and some play up to
27 holes depending on daylight and
weather. This is all subject to the GMS
tee time system unless we get more than
32 golfers for a specific date. Deadline
will need to be 5 days in advance of play
date for sign-up. There will be no prize
money or games for this outing; just play
your own ball on a Championship 18
hole course.
We will play on Saturdays - 6/2,
6/30, & 8/4; Wednesdays - 6/13, 7/11,
8/8 and Mondays 7/23 & 8/27. This
gives various day of the week options to
all SGV members.
CHAMPIONSHIP 18 golf
As you may know, SGV suspended Off
-site Championship 18 hole play on
Fridays with morning tee times when
our number of players diminished to 6
per event from our membership of 200.
We are now restarting Off-site
Championship 18 hole play on various
morning dates to try to increase our
participation level to at least 16 players
per event. A lot of work is needed to
coordinate with the off site courses and
we really need 16 or more players for
the event to be justified. If we get to 32
players, we can have morning shotgun
starts; otherwise it is straight line tee
times.
Our NEW dates are:
Friday June 1 8:30 AM at Huntington
golf club http://
huntingtongolfclub.com/ playing "1-2-
3" price of $26 for golf, cart, prize
money;
Wednesday June 13 Kings Ridge
Playing Shamble random teams;
Tuesday June 26 Probably Ocala mu-
nicipal Playing Double Skins.
