RFID
• In June 2004 iDA announced RFID as the next growth area for ICT.
• IDA to invest S$10 million seed fund over the next 3 years to promote the development and adoption of RFID in Singapore and to develop Singapore into an RFID hub in Asia.
VoIP Regulatory Framework
• Public consultation in Sept 2004 on:– Licensing and regulatory framework to be adopted to
allow IP Telephony services to be provided in Singapore; and
– framework to be adopted to implement Electronic Numbering (“ENUM”).
• Trial by IP Telephone service providers in progress
• Expected announcement of VoIP regulatory framework by end of this year
Broadband Wireless Access
• Broadband Wireless Access allowed in 3 frequency bands:– Spectrum for auction in May 2005
• 2300 to 2350 MHz • 2500 to 2690 MHz
– Licence free spectrum• 5725 to 5850 MHz
