Bvlgari was founded in 1884 by the
Greek silversmith Sotirio Bulgari and
has since become a true icon of luxury
by continuously finding inspiration
in its founding city, Rome. In 1905,
the Condotti Store was inaugurated
and, in 1934, for the first time, the
central doorway was crowned with
the gilded brass letters composing
the « BVLGARI » logo. The « U » of
the family name was replaced with
the letter « V » to echo the style of
ancient Roman inscriptions.
During the 1960s, in the midst of the
Roman Dolce Vita, Bvlgari became
the Jeweller to the Stars, beautifying
the most fascinating international
actresses of the time. Since then,
the Brand has incessantly crafted
dream-like creations, building its
legends through its collections. In
2014, the DOMVS was inaugurated,
to preserve and protect the Brand’s
heritage.
Built atop the Condotti store, the
DOMVS gallery houses the Heritage
Collection, as a magnificent testament
to more than 130 years of creativity.

1918
1940
Since its origins, the Roman Maison has been selling watches, though the first existing examples
date back to 1918, the year that officially marked the beginning of jewellery watches at Bvlgari.
Extraordinary for their precious settings, these first creations are celebrated 100 years later by
the Diva Finissima. This exquisite timepiece honours Bvlgari’s centenary know-how in crafting
jewellery watches with the most sophisticated complication, the minute repeater.
With its design inspired by ancient Rome,
the supple Serpenti marked the beginning
of Bvlgari’s wristwatch success, concealing
the dial in a jewelled head.
EVOLUTION OF GLAMOUR
1955Employed by Bvlgari goldsmiths for decades,
the lithe, intricate tubogas technique was
named for its resemblance to a 1920s Italian
car’s gas pipe.
1988Incorporating the beautiful BVLGARI BVLGARI logo with its
functional sport lines, Bvlgari engraved decorative distinction onto
the innovation of Diagono.
1975Following the design of an ancient Roman coin, the first
watches were inscribed with BVLGARI ROMA encircling
the bezel - today an iconic Bvlgari motif.
For over a century, Bvlgari has been
keeping time for women. The Bvlgari
archives recall the sparkle of its first
diamond timepiece in 1920.
The 1940s were intertwined with
the introduction of Serpenti, Bvlgari’s
sinuous and seductive jewellery-watch
collection. Serpenti’s coiling watch design
was reinterpreted in the 1950s into a
Tubogas version to herald this meticulous
goldsmithing technique. 1975 began the
BVLGARI ROMA phenomenon, with
the exclusive launch of a 100-piece
watch set gifted to Bvlgari’s top clients,
only to set off a wildfire of demand. 1977
answered the call and the emblematic
BVLGARI BVLGARI collection was
engraved in double, in the style of
coin inscriptions from ancient Rome.
Diagono timepieces were fashioned in
1988 for the dailywear favourite of the
active yet elegant man. And in 2004,
Bvlgari watchmaking proudly produced
its first in-house Grandes Complications
watches, each fitted with an ingenious
tourbillon movement and exquisite in
their composition.

After a new Serpenti coiled around
2010 with tubogas sinuosity, Bvlgari
men’s Octo collection broke geometric
ground in 2012, featuring eight-sided
aesthetic innovation. 2014 shone with
Lvcea, the brilliant star in the watches
collection, inspired by the Roman
sundial and crowned with a pink
cabochon stone. The same year, Bvlgari
received Geneva’s Jewellery Watch
Award for a dazzling DIVAS’ DREAM
timepiece, bursting with over ten carats
of diamonds and emeralds, as well as
broke the world record for thinness
with its Octo Finissimo Tourbillon.
Creativity in 2015 bore the grace of
new DIVAS’ DREAM models. It was in
2016 that Bvlgari watchmakers broke
a new world record, inventing the
thinnest tourbillon movement ever
created at only 1.95 mm thick. Featured
within the small seconds elegance of
the Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater,
Bvlgari watchmaking is constantly
innovating. In 2017 Bvlgari launched
the Octo Finissimo Automatic, a modern
take on micro-sophistication and the
thinnest of its kind in the world; in the
same year, Bvlgari was proud to usher
in a new generation of timely brilliance.

In 2004, Bvlgari was proud to produce its first Grandes Complications
watch manufactured entirely in-house, featuring a magnificent
tourbillon movement.
Octo’s intersection of circle and square gives rise to the
collection’s octagonal shape, a bold innovator that combines
function with style.
2010Merging two of the most iconic symbols of Bvlgari design,
Serpenti coils the sensual sinuosity of the snake with the
contemporary marvel of tubogas metalwork.

2018The latest in the Bvlgari quartet of record-
breaking ultra-thin watches, the Octo Finissimo
Tourbillon Automatic is the thinnest automatic
tourbillon caliber and watch in the world,
pushing the boundaries of both technical
engineering and aesthetics.

Proud to feature the world’s thinnest tourbillon movement,
only 1.95 mm thick, the Octo Finissimo Tourbillon in rose gold
is an innovative leader in the field of watchmaking.
Breaking the world record for thinness with its Finissimo
calibers, Bvlgari cased these tiny miracles in the Octo Finissimo
Minute Repeater, just 6.85 mm of thin, nomadic elegance, winning
the Critics’ Choice Award at SIAR in Mexico.

Capturing the exquisite essence of a woman, the 2015 DIVAS’
DREAM is resplendent outside and in, sparkling with pavé

In the year of Bvlgari’s 100th Anniversary of watchmaking, the
jewellery watch Diva Finissima honours the very first timepiece
realised by the Roman Maison in 1918, blending jewellery
savoir-faire with the highest expertise in the field of horological
complications. For the first time ever, Bvlgari designs an utterly
feminine ladies’ watch to host the thinnest minute repeater
movement in the world.

Coiled around the history of humanity,
the serpent is a seductive symbol,
entwined with 2700 years of Rome’s
rich past. From Cleopatra’s royal cobra
jewels to Bvlgari’s playful Serpenti
reinterpretations, the snake motif has
forever reigned mythically beautiful.
Inspired by its ancient heritage, Bvlgari
designed the first Serpenti watches in
the 1940s – encircling the wrist, they
kept time in the snake’s head. These
evolved into versatile Tubogas versions,
melding with the shapely lines of the
tubular technique – produced entirely
without soldering – and denoting the
sensual curves of a woman. From the
legendary Spiga motif, a symbol of
infinity carved into the coiling bracelet,
to contemporary sublimations of
the snake’s precious scales, up to
enchanting Serpenti Incantati encircling
the dial in an endless coil of motion,
Bvlgari’s icon of seduction has been
reimagined over the years in countless,
mesmerising interpretations.
In 2017, Serpenti took a new twist with
colourful, interchangeable bracelets in
precious leather, wrapping the wrist in
a multitude of styling options. This year,
the Roman Maison draws inspiration
from its heritage to introduce a
distinctive Tubogas version, highlighting
Bvlgari’s DNA as a jeweller and
combining the three gold colours
introduced in the 1960s: white, rose
and yellow.
Inspired by a design from Bvlgari’s
heritage, the Serpenti Misteriosi exclusive
timepieces will enchant with their high
level of craftsmanship: extraordinary
mobile spheres following the curves
of the wrist enliven the snake at every
movement. Equally mesmerising, a
new serpent will sensually slither
around a cuff, ensnaring a new, bold
and contemporary Serpenti attitude.
Whether realistic or geometrically
abstract, each Serpenti timepiece is able

The Bvlgari atelier is one of the very few
in the world specialised in the crafting
of ultra-complex timepieces and the
finest of complications. But foremost,
it defines the basics. Solotempo, Italian
for « only time », records every
millisecond with infallible precision.
With a pure mastery of its BVL 191
caliber, Bvlgari makes it look simple. The
sophisticated movement is one of the
mechanical calibers made in-house, a
feat left to the experts. Its movement
is automatically wound via an oscillating
wheel, weight-mounted on a ceramic
ball bearing, and equipped with an
energy-saving disconnection system
and instant date changer. Mechanical
watches are not always known for their
finesse, as it presents an additional
challenge to the watchmaker. But the
extra-thin calibers of Bvlgari’s Finissimo,
developed and manufactured in-house,
are an absolute marvel of man-made
nature. Set between two micro-thin
plates about as fine as a human hair,
Finissimo calibers set their first two
world records in 2014 and 2016,
for the BVL 268 and the BVL 362 –
respectively the thinnest tourbillon
and minute repeater on the market. In
another twist of genius, the mechanical
hand-wound movement of BVL 128,
only 2.23 mm thick, was housed within
the emblem. Joining the two other
record holders, in 2017 Octo Finissimo
Automatic marked a new chapter in
the history of ultra-thin watches, with
the slimmest self-winding caliber in the
world. Bvlgari craftsmen have endowed
the 2.23 mm thick BVL 138 movement
with a titanium case to match, at just
5.15 mm. In 2018, Bvlgari is proud
to introduce Octo Finissimo Tourbillon
Automatic, the newest timepiece to set
a fourth world record, as its BVL 288
caliber is the thinnest of its kind.
