TOGHETHER WE ARE BETTER

Likewise behind every great man there is a great wom-an (and vice versa), behind a great magazine there is a great team. A team that started being made up by 4 Simmers and that has grown after the incorporation of new members.

After the release of the first issue, we made a call in our website and social network accounts to all the people who were keen to collaborate to send us an email with their ideas and proposals. To my great sur-prise, we received lots of emails of people who want-ed to become part of the project. I knew that people had liked the first issue but not to what extent. Even so, I had considered the possibility that nobody sent an email wanting to contribute, I’m not going to lie to you. That’s why my happiness was double every time I received a new email with a collaboration proposal.

Little by little Sims Vita is finding its place in The Sims community. I had the honor to attend The Sims 4 Get To Work event that took place in Madrid last 9th March. It was rewarding experience, both personally and pro-fessionally.

All of these things encourage me to look forward to continue working and carry out Sims Vita’s project. It’s time to gather strength as very busy months await us!

“Cause there a no impossible goals, just incapable people.”

preview the SIMS 4get to workIn the event that took place on the occasion of The Sims 4 Get to Work, we

had the opportunity to try out the alpha version of the expansion pack for

one hour. As we had little time available, we decided to take a quick look to

each of the expansion’s highlights instead of focusing on one only.

In this career you will be

able to experience first-

hand the busy day-to-day

hospital life. You will have

a daily horde of patients

seeking for a remedy to

end their discomfort. It can

be from a cold to some

strange spots on the skin.

It’s a pity that our ill sims

aren’t able to visit the hos-

pital, although this won’t

free them from falling ill.

Be careful with the viruses

and the bacteria because

at any moment they can

attack your sims. If this

happens, we will have to

resign ourselves to order

medicines by phone/com-

6

Page 7: Sims Vita Issue #2

doctorputer. If we are not doctors,

we won’t be able to visit

the hospital unless our sim

is pregnant and is about to

give birth to her baby.

You will spend most of the

time diagnosing and treat-

ing the sims. For that, you

will have to examine and

perform tests on them with

the available machines:

X-rays scanner, the tread-

mill...If your patient has a

serious diagnosis, you can

intervene them in the sur-

gery machine.

7

Page 8: Sims Vita Issue #2

Step into the world of sci-

ence and technology with

this career. Your duty is to

make a good use of the sci-

entific material available.

¿Will you manage not to

fall on the sweet tempta-

tion of evil?

In the FuturSim laborato-

ries you will find everything

that you need to make the

ideas of your sim become

true. Between the different

available machines there

are, the chemistry table

stands out. Here you will

be able to analyze the col-

lectibles you pick up and

analyze them. In addition

you can create serums to

improve or worsen both

the physical appearance

and the emotions of your

sim or other sims.

8

Page 9: Sims Vita Issue #2

The inventing constructor is

a very interesting machine

with many options. Here

you will be able to create

devices, interchange ideas

and talk with robots. In this

machine you will be able

to create very cool objects

such as a cloning machine

or the sims-ray. I would

like to highlight this last

device as it enables you to

perform many actions such

as mind control, transform

objects, freeze other sims...

As time passes and you are

promoted, you will be able

to upgrade objects that you

have previously created to

first-class objects.

scientist

9

Page 10: Sims Vita Issue #2

If you want to live the

action-packed lives we see

in the famous American TV

series, this is your dream

job. Your duty is to solve

the crimes and clean up

the city from the evil.

The best part is that you

will have to solve them

from start to end. After

you’ve been assigned a

case, you’ll have to go to

the scene crime to col-

lect and photograph all the

possible evidence. You can

place all these evidence in

the crime map.

Once this evidence has

been analyzed and the sus-

pect has been identified,

you’ll have to arrest and

interrogate him following

10

Page 11: Sims Vita Issue #2

different strategies so that

he confesses the crime.

In addition, there are many

more things to do in the

police station, such as

check the police database

or do some paperwork. One

of my favorite parts of this

place are the cells, were

the criminals are locked

up, dressed up in orange

jumpsuits. You will be able

to search them, take them

a photo for their profile,

take their fingerprints and

let them go free (but be

careful not to release the

wrong person!).

detective

Set free the entrepreneur

you have inside and enter

into the business world.

This new expansion pack

includes a new world,

Magnolia Promenade, that

has available four commu-

nity lots (although you can

change them to residential

lots if you wish to live here).

The retailing system

doesn’t bring many novel-

ties with respect to The

Sims 2 Open for Business,

with the exception of sev-

eral new options to manage

your business such as pay-

ing for publicity campaigns,

establishing the profit mar-

gins or seeing the financial

report.

12

Page 13: Sims Vita Issue #2

PHOTOGRAPHY AND BAKERY

The photograph ability is

one of the elements that

I most like of this expan-

sion pack. The sims will be

able to take pictures with

the camera and the mobile

phone. Different types of

cameras and new options

for taking pictures (photo-

graphic filters, choosing its

orientation...) There is also

a new photographic studio

object to take group photo-

graphs.

The recent boom in bak-

ery has also reached The

Sims 4. You will be able to

cook all-types of pastries:

donuts, cookies, cupcakes,

different types of bread...

Your sims will have to work

out if they want to remain

fit!

Aliens

The most loving crea-

tures are back! They have

come back with the same

essence as the previous

Sims games but with new

characteristics. They will

be able to camouflage

among the Sim popula-

tion as they will be able to

adopt a human appearance

apart from their alien look.

Who knows, maybe you

live surrounded by aliens

and you are not aware of

it...

Another great novelty is the

alien world: SIXAM. You will

be able to go via the elec-

tro worm-holes generator

found in the scientific labs.

In this secret lot you can

visit other aliens and pick

up special object such as

unique plants and rocks.

ConclusiOn

After having played the

expansion pack, I think

the producers have done

a great job with this new

game. Combining one

expansion from The Sims

2, another from The Sims

3 in addition to new ele-

ments, they have managed

to create a new expansion

pack which is very com-

plete and that will supply

the Simmers with lots of

gamming hours and fun.

13

Page 14: Sims Vita Issue #2

During the event, the producer of

The Sims 4 Azure Bowie-Hankins

gave a presentation about the

game via videoconference, as she

was attending at the moment the

event that took place in France.

She explained us the general char-

acteristics of the expansion. She

also did a small gameplay where

she showed us the most interest-

ing features of Get to Work. At

the end she answered five ques-

tions, which I had the honor to ask

myself on the part of the Spanish

community.

As the game includes the detec-tive career, does this imply that thieves and firefighters are com-ing back?

No, we are actually not releasing thieves and firefighters with this EP but there are lots of other criminals that your police officer sim will be able to arrest and throw in jail.

Are you thinking of including community lots that offer services such as restaurants?

This package is more focused on the retail aspect such as selling goods. Is not necessarily focused on the services aspect, like restaurants and things like that, but of course it doesn’t roll out anything in the future.

Can the mannequins in shops wear customized con-tent?

The mannequins in the shops were not limited to what they can wear meaning you put clothes on them based on Create A Sim, so if you have clothes that show up in Create A Sim and you want to put those clothes in on your mannequins then they will

vIDEOCONFERENCE WITH

14

Page 15: Sims Vita Issue #2

show up. But as always with custom content, it is not tested by the game team. So while we are not limiting your ability to use them with mannequins, we haven’t necessarily tested that so we can’t guarantee it will be working cor-rectly.

Are you thinking of including more active

careers and new options related such as different types of businesses in future expan-sion packs?

We can’t make any announce-ment right now about future

contents but what I can tell you is that with all of the systems we are putting in place and especially with the retail and active career system, we built it a way where it would not be dif-ficult for us to add more active careers.

So that is not a closed door, but at the same time we are not making any announce-ment of any new active career beyond the three you get with Get to work at this time.

From all the careers that exist, we did you choose scientist, doctor and detective? Could you explain us a bit the process you followed to choose those three careers.

Absolutely! The process combines a little bit of two things. One thing is that we asked the community. We did a lot of surveys and polls trying to get good handle on the types of careers that fans would enjoy play-ing.

But in addition to that, as we were creating the expansion pack, we also wanted to pick careers that could be really deep, that would offer your sim a lot of things they could do throughout the day so that you wouldn’t just go to work eight hours and then discover everything that was about the career.

We wanted to have long-term game-play where there was a lot to dis-cover and a lot to do. For example, one of the careers that we were kind of throwing around before we had chose these three careers that we ended up with was a maid career! Like, why wouldn’t you want to fol-low your sim as they cleaned other people’s houses?

But what we found was there wasn’t a lot of deep content there; it was the same day-to-day so we ended

up choosing careers like the detec-tive, the doctor and the scientist where there was deep gameplay.

Echoes from the past...Evolution over time of the Pin-Up style.

The re-emergence of the pin-up style, both from its hairstyles to its characteristic features (plump and colored lips, fringe rolls, pin curls, and an infinite number of shapes, volumes, curves and colors) has easily adapted to modern times. Adopting a more aggressive look than the original, using the Rockabilly look as its major source, it has become a trend with many fol-lowers such as famous fashion designers, actresses (Rose McGowen), sing-ers (Katy Perry, Vinila von Bismark) and top-models, particularly Dita Von Tesse, who is a perfect example of what a modern pin-up girl should be like.

This fashion trend, or rather a phenomenon, arose as a consequence of the women’s liberation movements in the 1920s. It revolutionized the old social schemes regarding the role of women and their sexuality, showing now an image of a determined and independent woman, but without los-ing sensuality for it.

On the 21st century, during the Second World War, women attired in mili-tary uniforms in propaganda started to appear posing in a more sugges-tive way. These posters started to fill up walls of American tanks, vans and airplanes, becoming soldiers’ luck charm. The popularity of these attrac-tive women was such that they became a patriotic symbol: red lips, nar-row waists, endless legs, and of course a pair of heals, something indis-pensible, independently of what they were wearing on. They were owners of perfect curves from head to toes. Though appearing somewhat naïve and joyful, they always showed a hint of mischief, which made them ob-ject of many men’s desires.

But a lot of water has flowed under the bridge since then! Their predeces-sors, finding inspiration in the 40s and 50s style, had a less naïve appear-ance, adding new elements to their look.

Even so, the key features of this trend remained untouched: pencil skirts, high and defined waists, shorts, corsets, stockings, cleavages... All ele-ments that highlighted the female figure. The use of color is now more daring and generalized. Curvy hairstyles with rolled bangs and updos are still popular, as well as the key elements to this style: sensuality and in-sinuation. As for the face, colorful make-up, red lips and perfectly outlined eyes are essential achieve this look. On the other hand, leather, piercings and tattoos have become the main players of this game in the present day, after being introduced by the modern Pin-up girls.

the newEXPANSIoN is presented in madridOn Monday 9th March an event took place at

EA Spain studios (Madrid) on the occasion of

the release of the first expansion pack The

Sims 4 Get to Work. I attended this event with

Alfonso, @ActualidadSims.com webmaster

and contributor in Sims Vita’s Magazine.

Having been able to visit EA studios for the first

has been being able to meet in real life the

Very grateful about what I’ve lived and eager

to see you all again soon!

05:30 - The alarm clock goes off. It’s time to wake up and get ready for the great day that awaits us.

07:10 - We catch the AVE at Joaquín Sorolla train station (Valencia), which takes us directly to Madrid in 1 hour and 39 minutes (enough time to take a small nap :D).

08:49 - We are in Madrid! It’s a bit colder in here than in Valen-cia but the morning chilliness won’t last for long. We leave the train station and search for a cafeteria to have break-fast and gather strength for the rest of the day.

18:00 -/ Back in the centre of Madrid, we decide to sit down in a Starbucks and drink something cold (the un-derground was suffocat-ing). We spend a great afternoon with @LosSimsdeAni,@Mprin, @EduarditoSim01, @SimPush and @_ngh full of laughter.

21:10 - We find ourselves in the AVE heading back to Valen-cia, extremely tired but very happy about the day we have just lived.

16:30 /- The event has ended and we finally say good-bye to EA studios, but before leaving, we take advantage of the scenery to record an interview to Mario Prin-cipe in the grounds of the studios.

MARIOPRÍNCIPE

Page 102: Sims Vita Issue #2

102

Get to know a bit more one of the most-known Youtubers of the Spanish Sims Community. Taking advantage that we both attend-ed The Sims 4 Get to Work event, we interviewed him in person in the outsides of the EA studios in Madrid. We had a great time recording the interview, full of laughter and good moments.

How did you started in The Sims world?I’ve known the game since The Sims 1. At the age of seven, thanks to one of my parents’ friends, more specifi-cally his son who had the same age as me. I started playing The Sims. He loved computers and so it was him who introduced me to The Sims world. Since then I haven’t stopped playing - not even a year.

What do you remember with more nostalgia of your first games? What I remember the most is how innovative it was since the game had no end – it was basically playing a life. I think it was that, the novelty.

The fact that it was a game that had no end, a new concept. In addition, the games never ended. For me, playing a life was the best part.

What do you think about the new Sims 4 expansion pack “Get to Work”?Based on what I’ve seen and tried a short while ago, I think people are going to love it. It comes fully packed with novelties, although we already knew this regarding busi-nesses and active careers, but it’s not like we have seen it so far – it’s different. I have really liked it.

Page 103: Sims Vita Issue #2

103

Since you are a veteran Sims player, which aspects of the game would you improve in future edi-tions?More than in improving, I think they should focus first on the optimiza-tion and efficiency of the game. In the future, when we have lots of expansion and content packs, we don’t want to suffer again what hap-pened to us with The Sims 3. That was so exasperating! That’s why I think they should focus on this.

I would also like that they included a different means of transport but tak-ing profit of what already exists like the steamboat or the tram. I think it would be good that we could actu-ally use them in the future.

Although they say that the means of transport in The Sims 4 are different, and it’s true, but even so I still miss the cars. Profiting from the fact that they have included the boat and the

tram, well why not adapt them so they could be actually used.

Another aspect I would love is The Sims 2 cinematic. I was a fan of this and the stories with its characters. They kept you wanting to continue with the story. It would be nice they focused and improved this aspect.

I’ve known the game since The Sims 1. At the age of seven, thanks to one of my parents’ friends,”

Page 104: Sims Vita Issue #2

For the second Sims 4 expansion pack, would you like it to be a re-edition of an existing expansion from older generations or would you prefer that they surprised us with something completely new?I would vote for leaving the newness until later. I think seasons would be great. I want seasons please! I want pets! The most novel thing, as happened with The Sims 3 and the future them, they left it until the end. I would like something like this quite a lot.

When did you decide to start do-ing and uploading videos about The Sims in Youtube? Who moti-vated you to do so?Recently, I’ve celebrated my first anniversary in Youtube uploading videos. I was encouraged mostly by the person who has encouraged many, Miss Gerbit. I also knew her and had the chance to talk a lot to her. She en-couraged me – it was like my source of inspiration, so I start-ed thanks to her. Also my friend Eduadirto-sims01 who you all know cheered me all the time. So I think it’s thanks to both of them that I am here today.

From all the videos you have so far, which one is your favorite? It’s a video I recently made for the initiative EA and The Sims Spain had about recreating stories with vid-eos and I made Juan Tenorio’s ghost story.

I really liked doing it and it has been quite successful, having lots of visu-alizations.

I also remember having a great time recording one of the first videos I uploaded, which was about how to find aliens and what could you do with the aliens in The Sims 3. I think the best memories I have come from those videos. Apart from The Sims, what other hobbies and interest do you have?Well I really have very little free time. I don’t have free time! My degree and the things I have to do for my Youtube channel, absorb the 24 hours of the day. I don’t have time for my hobbies.

I enjoy watching movies and I love travelling but I can’t really do it be-cause I have no spare time. My time is consumed up by studying and Youtube, and that’s it..

To conclude, could you tells us what are your future expectations and how do you see yourself in 5 years? These are big words, 5 years! I hope to have my degree and what re-

spects my Youtube channel, I hope that we grow a lot more. I’m not go-ing to lie to you, I see myself being someone big. I am very ambitious and I always look forwards. So I see myself fine hahahahaha.

Thank you very much for answering the questions Mario. Would you like to send a message to the Simmers how are watching/reading this interview?Yes of course! I would mostly like to thank Sims Vita’s team for this op-portunity. I hope you follow me and you follow Sims Vita who does a re-ally great job. It’s a great magazine and I think it will continue to suc-

ceed and surely has a great future to come.

“My beginnings with The Sims re-

late to The Sims 2. I received the

game as a Christmas present

as it was a popular game at the

time. It didn’t take much time for

it to become my favorite game.

But it wasn’t until some months

ago, with the release of The Sims

4 that I decided to take my love

for this game to another level

and try to make others enjoy with

what I did through my videos.

I like to create families, each

one with their unique style and

live their stories, but above all,

what I really enjoy doing is build-

ing houses and all types of lots.

I take lots of care in every detail

so it becomes a house in which

I wouldn’t mind living in. I’m not

satisfied with any pre-built house.

The opportunity of contributing in

this magazine has been one of the

best things of this year. I still have

lots to learn of this marvelous

saga and it’s something I love.”

“My passion for The Sims started

many years ago. Having lots of

information available each day

and existing so many people who

enjoy the game as much as me,

makes me want more and more.

The game has evolved over the

years, and so have I. One of the

best things is that it opens your

artistic interest. Thanks to this

game I’m getting to know in-

credible people and living expe-

riences I never thought a single

videogame would enable me.

That’s why I’ve decided to take

a step further and do my bit

for The Sims world, and thus

learn from new experiences.”

“The first contact I had with

a computer was thanks to

The Sims. Those were diffi-

cult times in Argentina, so if I

wanted to play to The Sims I had

to go to my cousin’s house as

he had a computer. You could

find me there every afternoon.

When I didn’t have access to the

computer, I grabbed a piece of pa-

per and made sketches of my fu-

ture houses, including who will live

in them. I kept on like this until I fi-

nally owned my first computer and

The Sims 2. I had such a good time!

Then The Sims 3 came, followed

by the great world of Youtube

brought by Miss Gerbit, a year

and a half ago, who was a great

guide through the path, that lead

me to become the SimmerTuber

I’m today. I really enjoy sharing

my stories with The Sims 3 and

The Sims 4 together with other

fans, with whom I also share

the latest news and life experi-

ences. I’ve made lots of new

friends thanks to the Sims world.”

“Back in 2012 I discovered “Sim-

blr” and the great community

of players behind this name. It

opened the doors to a world of

infinite combinations and essen-

tial tools that I use to make the

most of my gaming experience.

Interact with people from all

around the world, be their inspi-

ration and be inspired by them!

The fun part lies in sharing what

you like with other people, and

this type of platforms, including

ActualidadSims, offer us a more

complete gaming experience.

For me, The Sims is much more

than a simple social simulation

game. It’s a magnificent tool that

enables our imagination run free

and allows us to discover one ’s

self in several different facets.”

SIMSTAGRAMSAlthough the presence of The Sims on Instagram is less than on other social networks, little by little the “simstagrams” are becoming each time more popular and there is a growing number of fans which decide to create here their own page.

With more than 5000 fol-lowers, this Simstagram account posts artistic photos taken with The Sims 3 of sims models and decorated spaces. It also has a Tumblr ac-count.

A simstgram dedicated to The Sims 4 where its owner uploads photos of her games and sometimes even short videos. It also has a Tumblr account.

This veteran Sims Spanish website has now decided to open an Instagram ac-count. Although it is only several months old, the account is regularly up-dated. Take a look at it!

SIMBLRSAny Simmer in love with the custom content and which likes lookbooks made with The Sims will surely know about many “simblr” accounts. Undoubtedly, here you will find great artists who day after day continue surprising us with their creations.

If I had to define this Simblr with a word, it would definitely be qual-ity. The fact that its cre-ator works as a designer can be noticed both in the photos and the custom content she creates.

I’m sure you will be im-pressed of the content of this Simblr: downloads, pictures, a legacy chal-lenge… The best part is that there is content from both The Sims 3 and The Sims 4.

A Simblr more than com-plete! Here you will find photos of interiors, down-loads (Sims 3 and Sims 4) and even the story of Toya, the Simblr owner’s favorite sim.

READERS’LETTERS

Hey! Pts! Yes yes I’m talking to you... If I were you I would keep reading ‘cause I’m sure that what I’m about to tell you will surely be of your interest. But first of all, welcome to Sims Vita’s second issue, which I hope you enjoy as much as I did.

Let me first introduce myself. My name is Cocó Simmer and I’m a Sims Vita’s magazine new contributor. Although the first issue was a great success, we realized there was some-thing missing in the magazine.

As always, we want to bring you the best Sims content possible, but we thought that our readers should also have the possibility to take part in some way in the magazine, which in the end is made for them to enjoy.

Thus, we came up with this readers’ letters section. We want you to send us your ideas, thoughts and opinion about the magazine, you stories with The Sims, your game’s pictures, your best creations... We will personally reply these letters in the magazine.

Sims Vita’s next edition will include the best reader’s letters that are sent to [email protected]. We await with great interest all your opinions, stories, pictures or anything you think is worth sharing!

If you really want to write us but don’t know about what, then you may wish to answer this question: What do you like most about Sims Vita?

We hope you all participate! See you next is-sue!
