Simple Tips For Planning Your Holiday Travel
Once you have reserved your flight, look for options on booking your seat. You are sure to be
happier with a seat of your choice, rather than having to take any seat that is left.
Try taking a mild sleeping aid during your red-eye flight. With all the unfamiliarity and noise of
an aircraft, many people are unable to sleep on planes. A sleeping tablet may be just what
you need, so that you can sleep while the flight is in progress. Importantly, wait on taking the
pill until the flight has taken off; this keeps you mentally aware in case there are delays or
changes in the schedule.
If you are traveling with your child, carry a photo of your child just in case he or she gets lost.
The idea of losing your child likely scares you, but not being prepared is worse. The fact
remains, however, that it is not unheard of. A simple picture of your child will make a
difference, especially if you are going abroad and do not speak the language fluently enough
to describe your child and they get lost from you.
If you plan on visiting the National Parks often, it would be best to invest in a National Park
Pass. It's only $50 annually, and it covers your entry to all the national parks.
Start by subscribing to e-newsletters from the major airlines. These newsletters are great if
you want to take advantage of special offers, discounts and other exclusive perks. E-
newsletters can provide you with money-saving discounts that are beneficial to your travel,
even though they may also contribute a clogged inbox.
Try to get a hotel room on a upper floor. As meaningless as this sounds, you don't want to
give thieves easier access by having a room on the ground floor. If you can, request a room
that doesn't have doors that slide open. Rooms with sliding doors are an easy target.
Before getting off the cruise in a port city find yourself a hotel with free parking. If you cannot
find any details about parking, ask the hotel staff what their policy is.
Pack minimally, and plan your itinerary when you are going on a trip. Traveling light can save
a lot of frustration on the road and in the airport.
If you need a rental car when going on a trip with small children, make sure the car seats are
packed. Use your own car seats when you rent a vehicle, you won't know if you the rental
company will have them and if so, what kind of quality they'll be.
Prepare your children for the rituals of airport security. Before you even get to the airport, try
to give them a good mental picture of what they will go through. Try to stay as close as
possible to a child who is going through security screening. Whenever possible, an adult
should go through first, allowing the child to see that it isn't frightening at all.
As stated in the beginning of this article, travel is very enjoyable even though planning a trip
might not be. If you plan ahead, you can increase your chance of having a good time on your
