Hello Chapter Members,

There are a few things that I truly feel

that need to be addressed.

For the most part, our February chapter

meeting went ok. However, there was a lot

of complaining, rude comments, and

disrespect while our class was going on,

including loud talking.

All of this was affecting many of our

members, to the point where a few left and

went home. I ended up receiving

complaints at chapter, by

email and phone.

It also affected the way I

was teaching. It makes it

very hard to teach when you

know of things that are

going on that shouldn't be

going on, in a place where we

all come to have a good time,

leave our troubles behind,

and do what we all love:

PAINT.

So this brings me to our

Code of Ethics and our pledge to support

the goals and purpose of the chapter and

the Society. We pledge to:

Keep the lines of communication open

with fellow chapter and Society

members, respecting one another and

following appropriate lines of

communication.

Have a positive and open attitude,

listening to fellow members opinions.

Remember the importance of an active

membership, contributing our time and

talents.

Maintain high standards of integrity

and honesty.

Respect the rights of each member

individually, and the right of the

majority to govern; therefore

supporting the decisions of the

majority, regardless of how we

personally voted.

Support and cooperate with leaders

who serve the chapter, respecting the

time and dedicated service of past

leaders, and when completing our

terms as officers, relinquishing our

responsibilities cheerfully to support

new leaders.

Promote a friendly

chapter environment

where chapter members

motivate and inspire one

another, and where

differences of opinion are

accepted without a need to

continue to discuss past

differences.

Accept and respect the

varied reasons members

have for chapter membership and the

varied skill levels they represent.

Remember the chapter is not a business

and should not be used either to

promote any specific individual or

business or to create business for itself,

thus competing with members who are

in business.

maintain high professional standards. It is only the

conscience of the individual who subscribed to this code

that can guarantee its effectiveness.

As president of this chapter, I expect the Code of

Ethics to be upheld. I do not like having a chapter meeting

that makes me feel like it wasn't worth my time and effort

to be there.

The Board works very hard to make these meetings

special. We always try to bring a positive attitude, but

when there are negative remarks and attitudes, for some

reason, the negative takes over.

When we walk through the doors to our chapter

meeting, it should be the time we leave our troubles and

worries behind us. It should be a time we are there to

share friendship and support, a time to learn, and a time to

loose ourselves in what we all love to do: PAINT.

I'm going to repeat a quote from the movie Bambi,

when the bunny thumper says, “If you don't have anything

nice to say, don't say anything at all.: These words are so

true and they bring peace.

I love our chapter and our members, I appreciate each

and every one of you and all you do and bring to our

chapter. I understand troubles and hard times, and it is

hard to be positive when there is such negativity going on

in our lives and the world. We can only control what we do

and say. All I ask is to keep the negative outside of the

walls of our meetings and enjoy the friendships we come to

share.

Please take what I have said in the respect of all of our

members and the service we all give to each other.

Remember the Code of Ethics. They are there for a reason.

Lets have a great and positive year, full of fun,

friendship and appreciation for each other. Keep smiling

and painting. Most of all be happy. See you all at our next

meeting. Thanks for all of your friendship and support.

Gwen Palmer

Hello Ladies,

I hope you enjoyed the Sandra Malone Christmas

stocking design that Gwen taught in February. What a fun

project. Gwen, thank you for sharing and for all of your

patience.

In March: Patty Clark will be teaching a Susan

Scheewe blueberry basket design, which involves using a

texture paste. If you have never used a texture paste

before, now is your chance to give it a try. You still have

time to sign up. The fee is $15.00.

In April: We have a special surprise for everyone.

We will be teaching three ornament projects, all of which

will be displayed at the March Chapter meeting. To give

you a hint:

1. One is a small canvas purse that hangs around your

neck, with a Jamie Mills Price design snow lady

painted on it, taught by Anita Miller.

2. One is a pair of old fashioned wooden skates with a

Jamie Mills Price gingerbread design painted on it,

taught by Gwen Palmer.

3. The other is a snowman painted on a pillow, taught

by me, Cathy Frazier.

Kits with the surfaces in it will be sold at the chapter

meeting in March. They will be $15.00 and the workshop

will also be $15.00. Lunch will be included from

Capriotti’s. You will need to bring your own drinks.

Dessert will be potluck. So you don’t want to miss this

event ladies. The event includes all three projects, lunch,

favors and fun!

In May: We will

paint a Cindy Makowski

design on a real horn,

taught by Pat

Gettemeyer. It is her

first time teaching. I am

excited for Pat, so

please ladies let’s

welcome Pat and encourage her to teach again in the

future. The price for this workshop will be $10.00. The

horns and the wooden horn holder will cost extra.

If you have any questions, please call me.

Thank you,

Cathy Frazier

The Shara Reiner P ro ject : June 22 & 23

The Seminar Committee met Wednesday, February

21, at Prestige at Mira Loma in Henderson. Great progress

was made. I want to thank each committee member for

being there and giving their input. In attendance was

Gwen Palmer, Barbara Paetzel, Beth Buchwald, Patty

Clark, and the Chair - Liz Hereld.

We chose this project from Shara’s submitted

designs and are very excited to present this to you. We are

taking registrations with a deposit of $25.00 from SSTDP

chapter members now. The sign-up sheet will be available,

again, at our March meeting, so bring your checkbook and

make your reservation.

The total seminar cost is $90.00. You may make a

$25.00 deposit to hold your spot at the March meeting,

but the remaining $65.00 will be due by the April meeting.

This project will be open only to our SSTDP chapter

members until April. After the April meeting, any space

left will be opened up to our neighboring chapter members

in Utah, and any others expressing interest.

An additional

$25.00 will be

necessary to reserve

a spot from other

chapters, guests,

and non-SSTDP

members. The cost

of the box will be

researched, and

hopefully by the

March meeting we

will know its cost.

See you soon!

Thank you to everyone who met at my home for our

first meeting. We had a great time brainstorming ideas

for this year's December party.

In March I will have two committee meetings to get

those brushes fired up. You are welcome to come on

Thursday, March 15, or Saturday, March 17, from 10 a.m. -

2 p.m. Either day or both, whatever your time allows.

We will be painting favors, so bring a light supply of

brushes and the basic things. I will send a note soon about

the paint palette.

Also, bring a sack lunch or a dish to share if you

like. I will have water, teas, and coffee brewing. R.S.V.P.

please and thank you.

I am looking forward to seeing you.
