Art is what we offer and support. It has always been ourgoal to provide a strong supportive hand in developing anunderstanding and appreciation of the arts in the Silvertonarea. Indeed, art is recognized as the foundation of alllearning by the Oregon State Department of Educationand thus, the proceeds derived from the Festival providemajor art education opportunities to children and adults atour local community schools as well as the Silverton ArtsAssociation’s educational efforts.

POETRY IN THE PARKThe Silverton Poetry Association invites the commu-nity to participate in two activities:
HAIKU CONTEST A Japanese traditional poetic formthat consists of three lines. The first line of five sylla-bles, the second of seven, and the third of five syllables.The traditional poems make reference to nature and the seasons. All ages welcome.
TREE POEM TRIVIA Participants will be given writtenclues that they will take to search for the related poem,hanging on trees throughout the park. Tree Poems areinspired by the play by Shakespeare, As You Like It.
