Sir James Barr, senior physician of the Liverpool Royal Infirmary, goes behind the Metchnikoff bacillus in his search for the cause of old age. The bacillus may have all the evil effects claimed by Metchnikoff, but it would have no chance if the victim did not provide a basis by habitual excess in nitrogenous foods. It is the meat habit which lies at the root of the arterial degenerations that bring about old age. Mrs. Sue Sieben has returned from a four months’ visit with her daughters in Oklahoma and Arkansas.

It is not necessary to go home after the Sunday morning service to get dinner. Just step into the Unity Vegetarian Inn. The Sunday dinner is 35 cents.

Now is a good time to get views of the Unity Building on souvenir Post cards. The set of eight cards are on sale in the library. The price has been marked down from 25 cents to 15 cents a set.

Some people are always finding fault with Nature for putting thorns on roses.I always thank her for putting roses on thorns.—Alphonse Karr.

The Unity Society has purchased the lot just south of the Unity Building on which a new and beautiful Unity Vegetarian Inn will be built. The first payment of $500 was made by the Correspondence School. The balance of $5000 is to be paid the' 1st of March, 1910. The Board of Directors feel sure that all Unity people will be vitally interested in the work and will lend a hand.

The Unity Tract Society is printing a vegetarian cook book that, when finished, will surpass any cook book of this kind hitherto placed before the public, in size, number of recipes, convenience, beauty and novelty. The book will hang on the wall and thus be out of the way. Each page will contain a motto in red beside terse understandable recipes in large type. It will be ready for delivery the first week in November, just in time to use for the Thanksgiving dinner.

The Sunday evening meetings will begin again September 26th. Dr. Osbron will deliver the address at this first meeting. The platform will be occupied by different speakers until Mrs. Van Mar- ter’s return the latter part of October.

WEEKLY UNITY

RESPONSIVE SERVICE. Sunday, September 26

Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in thy sight,

O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.

Wherewith shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to thy word.

With my whole heart have I sought thee:

0 let me not wander from thy commandments.

Thy word have I laid up in mine heart,That I might not sin against thee. For my mouth shall utter truth; And wickedness is an abomination to

my lips. All the words of my mouth are in

righteousness; There is nothing crooked or perverse

in them.1 will delight myself in thy statutes:1 will not forget thy word.

Mr. Don. A. Davis and Miss Aleda Watters, of St. Joseph, were married some time ago, and are now living in this city. We wish them great happiness. They have both been staunch friends of Unity for the past six or eight years.

Mr. Burton E. White and Miss Tessie Pearl Stanley were married in the Unity rooms Saturday evening,September 18th, by Chas Fillmore. The bride is a sister of W. P. Stanley who was married some weeks ago.

All persons interested in the cause of Health, Happiness, Peace and Prosper

ity as advocated by the Unity Society of Practical Christianity, are invited to become members of the Society. All that is necessary to join, is to fill out the application card and hand to the Speaker or librarian. Cards may be found on the Speaker’s table, on the table in the hall or in the library. In joining you are not limiting yourself, for we have no creed. We are students of the Christ teaching, and where Christ is there is liberty.

Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves.—J . M . Barrie.

WEEKLY UNITY

In September Nautilus, Elizabeth Towne gives an interesting account of her visit at Unity. The following is an extract:

The Origina.1 Unity ImpulseMr. and Mrs. Fillmore are the original

“ Unity people,” from whom this whole work has evolved. They have published their little magazine over twenty years. I came across U n it y Magazine about sixteen years ago, and for several years it was my comfort and guide. That was long before I ever dreamed of publishing a magazine myself!

Mr. and Mrs. Fillmore have attracted a number of efficient workers to help in this movnment. Mrs. Croft has been with them since I can remember. Edgar Prather worked with them for years; now he is in Denver. In addition Mr. and Mrs. Fillmore have been quietly raising two good sons to the work, one a business man, the other an artist.

Mr. and Mrs. Fillmore look the part of Divine Science and Unity work. It is whispered that both have accomplished wonders in the way of overcoming physical disabilities. And they have certainly wrought miracles in the way of growing a new thought church work, a magazine and publishing house and all the possibilities attendant upon them. To organize such a work, attract the right people and grow it as they have is no ordinary feat.

The Unity folks were so cordial to us, and the place so interesting we wanted to stay longer. And it is a pleasure to speak to such a bright and responsive and cordial houseful of people as greeted me at the Unity Auditorium April 21.
