In giving the Silent Thought last Sunday our Speaker said: There are many ways of looking at every subject. We do not look through our eyes alone but through our minds. If we look upon God, even in our minds, as not present, he seems absent to us. All things visible and invisible are to us according to our mental view-point. We have often heard “ God is love,” but how many of us reflected upon it or tried to realize the meaning of the statement? Have you thougth about God as a man who expressed love? If you have, then you have not understood. God is not a man, nor a being that expresses love—God is love. This may be reversed to “ Love is God.” Love is not mere human affec- tion but that Supreme uniting force of the'uni verse. The physicist may call it gravity, but it is far more to the spirit- ual man. Viewing principles from the realm of forms and shapes 'gives no in- sight to the cause side. The mind can and does know God as Love. Medi- tate upon this simple yet far reaching truth, fill your mind with its power and you will see what the disciple meant when he wrote “ God is love,” Oh, a trouble is a ton, or a trouble is an ounce, Or a trouble is what you make it; And it isn’t the fact that you re hurt that counts, But only,—how did you take it. —Edmund Vance Cook. you must also believe in plenty for others. Consider your attitude toward others.

He who wishes to take in must give out in order to be benefitted by his own growth. Remember the fable of the frog that envied the size of the ox.

If you pinch the Indian on the penny he will inform on you to the Goddess of Liberty on the dollar. Liberty will not be pinched. She avoids close quarters.

When you say you wish money for the good you could do with it, make a review of what you are doing with your present supply. You may be sincerely deceiving yourself and your hearers. God and the law are never fooled.

Board Meeting. The regular monthly meeting of the

Board of Directors of the Unity Society, for August, will be held Monday evening, the 30th, at 8 o’clock.

At this meeting all applications for membership in the Unity Society will be acted upon. Every one is invited to join in the good work and lend his moral and spiritual support to the cause. By joining the Society no one is binding himself to creed or dogma, nor is it necessary for him to give up his membership in the orthodox church.

Membership application cards may be obtained at the Speaker’s table or in the offices on the first floor. Fill out card and return to Secretary or Librarian before 8 o’clock Monday evening.

Notes From the West. Our Mrs. Van Marter addressed the

Sunday morning service for the New Thought Society of Seattle, August the eighth. The Theosophical hall in which the services are held was crowded. Mrs. Van Marter accepted the invitation to speak with no little trepidation, as she had been told that after the regular speaker finished it was customary to allow those in the audience to criticise, in five minute talks, what had

been said. After accepting the invitation Mrs. Van Marter committed herself absolutely to the Spirit, both in preparing the address and in its delivery, with the result that the half dozen speakers who followed her said so many good things about her address that she was amazed. One of the speakers said it was about the best address that had been delivered in that hall.

Let the good work continue, Mrs. Van Marter, and may God bless you in all your ways.

The September number of W e e W i s d o m is just out. It is filled to overflowing with good things. The editor, Myrtle Fillmore, being away this number was edited by Blanche and Royal. Get a copy from the Librarian and see how well they did it.

Mr. Carl Gleeser will address the service Sunday morning, August 29. Flis subject will be “My Kingdom is not of this World.”

WEEKLY UNITY

RESPONSIVE SERVICE.

Sunday, August 29

When he, the Spirit of Truth, is come, he shall guide you into all truth.

I do believe in the presence and power of the Spirit of Truth.

And he, when he is come, will convict the world in respect of sin, and of righteousness. and of judgment.

My worldly thoughts are under Truth conviction. I would know the Truth, and do the True way.

The Spirit of Truth reveals tome that only the good is true—therefore sin no longer holds me in fear or folly—I am free in the consciousness of my Christ perfection and Righteousness.

The Righteousness of the Divine Law is established in my mind and affairs. I do unto my neighbor as I would be done by. My judgment is just because I seek not my own will but the will of the Father.

Behold now I have ordered my course; I know that I shall be justified.—Job 13:18.

I believe in the Divine Law of Justice and trust it to set right every transaction that comes into my life.

Judge not lest ye be judged.I judge no man, but commit all judg

ment to the Father. There is one that judgeth you, even the Word—the law of thought.

I no longer condemn, criticise, censure, find fault, scold or outwardly judge the acts of men. Neither do I belittle nor condemn myself.

And now abideth faith, hope and love, these three, but the greatest of these is Love.

The Wedding. At 8:30 last Tuesday evening Mrs.

Sloan began the ceremony by playing the “New World” on the Orchestrelle. This was followed by an appropriate song, beautifully sung by Miss Nellie Sullivan. Then came the wedding march, while the bride and groom marched down the aisle. Mr. Charles Fillmore performed a beautiful spiritual ceremony which made Mr. William P. Stanley, Jr., and Miss Harriette Bell Wright man and wife. The groom’s dressing in white instead of the regulation black proved a very pleasing innovation. Congratulations were received in the parlors. The beautiful presents were spread upon a table so that all might share in the pleasure of seeing them. Mr. Stanley has been a more or less regular attendant at Unity for eight years.

Miss Millie'Chandler is enjoying her vacation in Colorado.

A Russian Count at Unity Inn.Many of the Unity people will remem

ber a pleasant faced young man about the Unity building, last winter, who was known as “ Teddy.” He went under this name since he was a Russian and no one could pronounce his real name. He stayed at the Inn during the winter while he was attending school, and often acted as usher at the Sunday morning service. He attended the Unity services quite regularly and seemed very much interested. Since leaving Kansas City last spring for Chicago it has developed that he has full right and power to use the title “Count.” His full name and title is Count Feodorovitch Tsalekoff. The Count is 24 years of age and has traveled nearly around the world. His life story is very interesting and in many places quite thrilling. He has won a warm spot in the hearts of all who knew him by his frank and pleasing manner and his willingness to help wherever he could be of service. He was not afraid of work of any kind and was always good natured.

Vegetarian meals are served three times a day in the Unity Inn. Breakfast at 7, Dinner at 12:15 and Supper at 6. Sunday Dinner is ready directly after the morning service. No animal fats are used in cooking.
