    HandlingandTransport Never apply excessive force to the controls, connec-

    tors or other parts.

    Always unplug cables by gripping the plug rmly,not by pulling on the cable.

    Disconnect all cables before moving the unit.

    Physical shocks caused by dropping, bumping,or placing heavy objects on the unit can result inscratches and more serious damage.

    Cleaning Clean the guitar body with a dry soft cloth.

    A slightly damp cloth may be used to remove stub-born grime and dirt.

    Never use cleaners such as alcohol or thinner.

    ElectricalInterference This unit contains electric circuitry and may cause

    interference if placed too close to radio or televisionreceivers. If this occurs, move it further away from

    the affected equipment.

    When shipped from the factory, the left frame is not attached to the Silent Guitars

    main body.

    Before using the instrument, please properly attach the left frame using the proce-dure described below.

    Aftertheframeisattached,makesureattachmentscrews1and2aretightenedrmly.Usingtheinstru-

    mentwiththescrewsloosewillresultinrattleorothernoiseduringperformance.

    Whentransportingtheinstrument,pleasecarry theinstrumentby itsneckor mainbody.Holdingthe

    instrumentbyonlyitsleftorrightframewillresultindamageoftheframeortheframesxedparts.

    1. Fully loosen [rame attachment screw 1] located in thearea behind the 12

    thret, and [rame attachment screw 2]

    located at the end o the Silent Guitars main body.

    2. Insert the lower rod o the let rame ully into thebracket hole on the Silent Guitars main body.

    Next, insert the upper rod ully into the bracket hole.

    Makesurethat the upperandlowerends oftheleftframearenotreversed.

    Donot placeanyexcessforce onthe frames rods.

    Therodsmaybecomedamaged.

    3. Ater conirming that both rods o the let rame areully inserted, turn the attachment screws clockwise and

    secure the let rame to the Silent Guitars main body.

    When moving any movable parts,

    make sure that your fngers or hand donot become pinched in the parts.

    Do not tighten the attachment screws

    when the rame is removed. It will re-

    sult in the damage o parts, which will

    cause problems when re-attaching the

    rame.

    Attaching the Frame

    Attachment of the frame is now complete.

    To remove the frame, simply reverse the order of the procedure described above, removing the upper

    rod from tha main body before removing the lower rod.

    The frame attachment screw can be used as a strap pin for a separately purchased guitar strap.

    Makesurethat the strapis rmlyhookedonto the strappinsotheinstrumentdoes not dropduring

    Changing Strings

    1. Thread the string through the corresponding string hole on the bridge, then tie the string as shown inthe illustration below.

    Ater tying the knot, pull both ends o the string to make the knot frm on the bridge.

    2. Next, tie the strings to the pegs.Hold the guitar so the head is acing you and wind the strings onto the pegs as shown in the illustra-

    tion below.

    3. Ater all six strings are strung, tune the guitar properly.

    As the strings get old, sound quality will gradually decrease, and it will become

    difcult to tune the instrument. Change the strings as soon as you think they are

    getting old.Make sure you purchase a set of nylon guitar strings. The Silent Guitar uses a

    string length of 650mm (25-9/16 inch).

    Power Supply

    The Silent Guitar operates either on battery power or with an AC adaptor however,

    it will consume more power when the reverb function is in use. For that reason, we

    recommend that it be powered with the supplied AC power adaptor for normal use.Always turn the PHONES ON/OFF switch OFF before making AC power

    connections or replacing the battery.

    Whenbatterypowerbecomeslow,theeffectdoesnotoperate,thelampwillnotlight,andnoisewillbe

    present.Replacethebatterywithanewalkalinebatteryassoonaspossible.

    Alwaysfollowthe+/signswheninsertingthebattery.Improperinsertionmayresultinre.

    Iftheinstrumentisnotgoingtobeusedforanextendedperiodoftime,orwhenbatterypowerisde-

    pleted,werecommendthatthebatteriesberemovedinordertoavoidpowerconsumptionorleakage.

    SupplyingACPower

    1. Plug the adaptors DC output cable into the Silent Guitars DC IN jack, making sure the plug is frmlyinserted into the jack.

    2. Plug the AC adaptor into a convenient wall AC power socket.

    BatterypowerisautomaticallydisconnectedwhentheACadaptorisconnected.

    WhentheACadaptoris used,thebatteriesmayleak.Topreventleakagewerecommendthatyoure-

    movethebatteriesfromtheinstrument.WhentheACadapterisused.

    WhenusinganACadaptor,makesureyouuseonlyoneofthefollowingrecommendedadaptors(Rec-

    ommendedAdaptors:PA-D012(A),PA-130(A),PA-D09,PA-3C).Theuseofanyotheradaptormayresult

    indamagetotheinstrumentorcausere,etc.Pleaseusewithcaution.

    InstallingtheBattery

    1. Be sure to use a 9-volt alkaline battery 6LR61. (not supplied)

    Whenusinga battery,pleaseusean alkalinebattery.Useofa manganesebatterywillresultin an

    extremelyshorterbatterylifedependinguponthetypeofbatteryused.

    2. Remove the battery compartment cover, located onthe back side o the Silent Guitar, by sliding the

    tab labeled OPEN toward the head o the guitar.

    3. Attach the 9-volt battery 6LR61 to the batterysnap, and place it in the battery case.

    Take careul note o the polarity markings (+/-) as

    shown in the illustration when connecting the bat-

    tery. (Reversed polarity may damage the circuit.)

    4. Close the battery compartment cover.

    AUXINjack

    The AUX IN jack can be used to connect an external stereo signal source to the Silent Guitar.

    Connecting the audio output o a CD player, portable music player, etc., to the instrument allows youto play along with the external audio source.

    The AUX IN jacks signal level can be controlled with the AUX IN level control.

    OutputJacks(LINEOUTJack/HeadphoneJack)

    The LINE OUT jack can be connected to an external input jack on a device such as a guitar amplifer,

    powered speaker, mixing console, etc., using a separately purchased standard monaural phone cable.

    This allows monitoring or recording o the Silent Guitars sound via an external device.

    Connecting the LINE OUT jack to the INPUT jack on an electronic tuner, allows tuning o the instru-

    ment in the same manner as other electronic instruments.

    When using the supplied stereo earphones, insert the earphone plug into the headphones jack (PHONES)

    and turn the headphone ON/OFF switch to its ON position.

    The LINE OUT jack is a monaural type jack while the headphones jack is stereo.

    Before connecting the Silent Guitarto any externaldevices, make sure that the powerof

    allrelateddevicesisturnedOFF.Setthevolumelevelofanyexternalaudiosourcestothe

    minimum level before connectinganything. Highvolume settingscouldcause damage to

    theequipmentandyourhearing.

    Becarefulnot tostep onthe cord.Thecordmay break, equipmentmaybedamaged, and

    thismaycauseasubstantialshocktoyourears.

    ThesignalfromtheSilentGuitarsoutputjacksmustNEVERbereturnedtotheAUXINjack,

    eitherdirectlyorthroughexternalequipment.Doingsowillresultinfeedbackwhichmay

    causedamagetotheinternalelectronics.

    Using the Controls

    UsingtheLINEOUTjack(Usingwithaguitaramplierorpoweredspeaker,etc.)

    1. Use a standard phone plug cable to connect the Silent Guitars LINE OUT jack to the input jack on the

    guitar amplifer or powered speaker, etc.When the cables plug is inserted into the LINE OUT jack, power will be supplied to the Silent Guitar

    and the power lamp will light.

    Before making anyconnections,makesurethattheoutput volumeon the guitaramplierorpow-

    eredspeaker,etc.,isturneddownoritspowerisswitchedOFF.

    Whentheguitarisnotbeingused,disconnectthecablesplugtosavebattery.

    2. Rotate the VOLUME knob while playing, and adjust the volume to a suitable level.

    Ifthesoundisdistortedwhenplayingvigorously,turntheVOLUMEknobslightlytotheleft.

    3. Rotate the BASS and TREBLE control knobs to adjust the sound quality.Rotate the BASS knob to the right to increase the low requencies, and to the let to decrease the lowrequencies.

    Rotate the TREBLE knob to the right to increase the high requencies, and to the let to decrease the

    high requencies.

    4. You can add dierent eects to the guitars tone using the EFFECT unction.OFF .................Disengages the effect function. Only the original non-processed guitar sound is heard.REV1...............Adds reverb similar to what you would normally experience in a room.REV2...............Adds reverb similar to what you would normally experience in a hall.CHORUS.........The chorus effect makes it sound as if two guitars are being played.ECHO..............Adds an echo effect to the guitars sound.

    Usingthestereoearphones(orstereooutputtoanexternaldevice)

    When using the instrument with the supplied stereo earphones or a separately purchased pair ofheadphones, or when you want to send the instruments stereo output to an external device, usethe headphones (PHONES) jack for connecting the earphones or external device.

    1. Set the headphones ON/OFF switch, located on the right side o the control panel, to its ON positionto supply power to the Silent Guitar. The power lamp will light.

    WhenusingtheLINEOUTjack,audiooutputisdeliveredto theheadphonesjackregardlessof the

    headphonesON/OFFswitchposition.

    When putting the Silent Guitar into the supplied soft case, remove the left frame

    from the Silent Guitar, and then place in the individual parts in the case as shown

    in the illustration below.

    Placing the instrument in the sot case does not guarantee against any dam-

    ages to individual parts.

    Thesoftcaseisdesignedforstoringandtransportingtheinstrument,andprotectingitfromdust,etc.Do
