The Sept 18, 2011
Sikkim Earthquaketoll is now 50 and
counting.
Nature has struck
again, this time in
Sikkim and theground has shaken
literally. Sikkim, a
favored touristdestination, was
jolted by anearthquake of 6.8on Richter in
magnitude killing
50 precious lives. The death toll is at 50 and counting which includes 25 in Sikkim, 4 inWest Bengal 11 in Bihar and 7 in Nepal, 7 in Tibet.
More than 100 people arrived at Siliguri district hospital and 30 were admitted. “Thetremors were felt in Delhi, West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa, North East and Nepal. Around
200 people have been brought to the ITBP relief camp in Gangtok, Ranjit Sinha, DG
ITBP, said. Coupled by the incessant rains that hit the highways and landslides that
deteriorated the situation sikkim needs all the help NOW.
Sewa International has been at the forefront of relief and rehabilitation in many countrieslike USA, Guyana, UK, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and some more, for more than 2
decades. Sewa International appeals to all the benevolent to extend their hand for
providing succor to the quake affected in Sikkim, Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, and some
more states that have been someway affected by this devastating quake.

Our volunteers have already started reaching out to the affected families in some parts
and are trying to reach out to the affected in far flung areas which are still unreachable.
