System Information
Application Details
Consumption / Dosage Depending on the substrate roughness, surface profile and the thickness of the layer applied. As a guide, 1 – 1.2 kg/m2 for each layer applied by brush , ~1.8 – 2.0 kg/m2 for layer applied by trowel. (excluding allowances for loss, wastage, surface profile and porosity, etc.)
Substrate Quality The substrate must be structurally sound and free of all traces of contaminants, loose and friable particles, cement laitance, oil and grease etc.
Substrate Preparation The substrate must be prepared by suitable mechanical preparation techniques such as high pressure water jetting, needle guns, blastcleaning, scabblers etc. and properly pre-wetted to a saturated surface dry condition. Any water infiltration on the substrate should be plugged with Sika® Monoplug product. Tie rod holes, if any, should be filled with Sika® Monotop products. Local water concentrations on the substrates should be removed using a sponge.
Application Conditions / Limitations
Substrate Temperature +5°C min. / +30°C max.
Ambient Temperature +5°C min. / +30°C max.
Application Instructions
Mixing 25 kg bag Sika®Seal Crystal, should be mixed mechanically with, ~7 – 7.5 lt of water and ~5.0 – 5.5 lt of water, for brush and trowel applications respectively, using a drill and paddle (max. 500 rpm) until a homogeneous consistency is achieved.
Application Method / Tools
After completing the mixing process, leave the product to rest for about 3 – 4 minutes. Continuously mix the product during the application, do not dilute and use the hardened mixture. Product should be applied in two layers. Application should be done first to the wall and then to the floors.
Cleaning of Tools Clean all tools and application equipment with clean water immediately after use. Hardened / cured material can only be removed mechanically.
Potlife ~60 min. at 20°C
Notes on Application / Limitations
n Depending on the ambient weather conditions, the product reaches its mechanical strength after ~3 days and becomes waterproof ~5 – 7 days after application.
n Sika®Seal Crystal should not be applied on surfaces where structural displacements may take place.
n During the first 48 hours after application, there should not be any loading on the product.
n Any mixing ratio rather than the recommended values should not be observed during application.
n Applied product, should be protected with 5 cm thick cement screed against pedestrian traffic and mechanical abrasion after 48 hours.
Curing Details
Curing Treatment Surface should be moistened for 5 days following the application and dehydration should be prevented.
