“Bear’s Bath”: A Prop Story ©2009 Kathy MacMillan & Christine Kirker

www.storytimemagic.net

Use a large box or plastic tub as a bathtub. Place a spray bottle of water inside the tub and use it

to spritz the children each time a new animal splashes into the tub. Gather 5-6 stuffed animals

or puppets of varying sizes to use in place of the animals below. The last animal should be as

large as possible. If your tub is large enough, you can even have a child volunteer play Bear.

One day Bear decided to take a bath. He filled his tub up with water and

bubbles, and got in.

And then...KNOCK! KNOCK! Someone was knocking at the door! Bear

got out, put on his robe, and went to the door.

It was a frog. “Can I take a bath too?” said the frog.

“Sure,” said Bear.

So Bear and the frog jumped into the tub. They splashed and had fun.

And then...KNOCK! KNOCK! Someone was knocking at the door! Bear

got out, put on his robe, and went to the door.

It was a bunny. “Can I take a bath too?” said the bunny.

“Sure,” said Bear.

So Bear and the bunny and the frog splashed and played in the tub.

And then...KNOCK! KNOCK! Someone was knocking at the door! Bear

got out, put on his robe, and went to the door.

It was a dog. “Can I take a bath too?” said the dog.

“Sure,” said Bear.

So Bear and the dog and the bunny and the frog splashed and played in the

tub.

And then...KNOCK! KNOCK! Someone was knocking at the door! Bear

got out, put on his robe, and went to the door.

It was a horse. “Can I take a bath too?” said the horse.

“Sure,” said Bear.

So Bear and the horse and the dog and the bunny and the frog splashed and

played in the tub. It was getting a little crowded.

And then...KNOCK! KNOCK! Someone was knocking at the door! Bear

got out, put on his robe, and went to the door.

It was an elephant! “Can I take a bath too?” said the elephant.

“Um, I guess so,” said Bear.

So the elephant jumped into the tub with the horse and the dog and the

bunny and the frog. Bear looked at the tub. There wasn’t much room left.

“You know what?” said Bear. “You all have fun. I’m going to go take a

shower!”
