There are many opportunities for overseas products especially which are still unfamiliar in Japan. We presented several recipes using unfamiliar overseas food products in order to create additional demands from retailers who are willing to introduce new items.
This was a section aimed at disseminating information on food safety of food supermarkets as food-related companies will introduce HACCP two years later.
The continuous near future supermarket research gave you ideas and possible solutions toward social environment changes such as aging population with declining birthdate, decrease in population and labor shortage. We showed the result of information gathering and research along the lines with the theme. The project -Future Store “NOW”- focused on “IoT solution -Smart Communication”,
“Wellness Support” and “Entertainment” for SMTS2020.
We exhibited about 350 new products that displayed in the "SMTS 2019 Japanese Regional Product Zone (Hall9-11)" for each product category rather than by region, and this was used as a tool for visitors to efficiently explore the hall.
We introduced the "techniques" and "sentiments" of the creators who prioritize local regions and focus on quality that respect the traditions of Japan. We proposed newly adding "Japanese wines and fruit wines" to existing brewers (craft beer, sake, shochu) to expand the number of brewers.

Outstanding products that are actually sold in supermarkets, convenience stores, specialty stores, etc. were selected by judges of food experts from among lunch boxes, side dishes, salads, cooked buns etc.. The 8th “Bento and Prepared Meal Awards” aimed at raising the level of the Delicatessen section by praising excellent products and increasing employee’s motivation. As organizer’s project, award-winning products were specially displayed and introduced. Also, the award ceremony and lecture were held on February 13 (Wed.) on seminar stage in Hall 8.
Display of award-winning products / Food Court
New discovery of deliciousness "Our shop's signature dish-Japanese-style rolled omelet (dashimaki tamago)" taste comparison stand
Awards Ceremony / Lecture
Not only to see the award-winning products on display, visitors could also taste them in the specially set up food court. We accepted payment with various electronic money and credit cards (VISA/Mastercard) this time.
Participants enjoyed eating and comparing types of "dashiki tamago", which are becoming popular at the delicatessen area of the special booth in the venue. Using frozen liquid eggs in consideration of lack of workers and safety, the tasting demonstration of dashimaki tamago was held.

■Since there were more visitors than expected, more staffs should be allocated in the booth to take care of visitors.
■Focusing on narrowing targets, developing new products which are commensurate with those targets and selecting existing products.
■Compared to other exhibitors, there were too many products in our booth. Should consider booth making for the next show.
■Had an impression that many visitors searched for new products. Since exhibited with existing products to re-promote to visitors, the appeal was weak.
■To increase the quantity and quality of business meetings, booth design, operation during the show, and effective space-using should be reconsidered.
■Distribution method to areas where product supply is difficult. Reviewing the transportation cost burden and the number of product lots.
■By exhibiting at SMTS as a manufacturer, brand awareness was improved. On top of that, it was meaningful to meet local customers who rarely see each other.
■ Could have a connection with supermarkets at the reception party and improve company name awareness.
■ The main purpose to exhibit SMTS was to creae prospects for new business development, and it was successful.
■ Able to strengthen relationships with existing customers by exchanging information etc., which cannot be usually talked about during business negotiations.
■ Learned about exhibition methods, packages, and designs from other exhibitors. It helped considering in our new product development.
■ Gathering information from competitors, understanding industry trends, collaborating with partner company who develops products with, greetings to existing business partners.
