understanding schools realising success
what is elli?
elli is a potent means of creating and maintaining learning
environments within which students, teachers and whole schools can thrive.
elli is a fully research-validated tool and methodology and has been
used in scores of academic studies and hundreds of schools worldwide.
elli is a social enterprise, working closely with our sister charity to
help improve the educational opportunities of young people.
We evolved from the University of Bristol’s
Graduate School of Education, and our mission is simple:
to change the world through radical, transformational
learning.
The elli advantage
elli is: • a context-responsive online
learning environment and methodology to develop the full learning potential of students
• a reliable measure of factors
influencing student learning
• a language of learning to be
used throughout the school
• a credible basis for leadership
and employability skills
• a professional development
system for teachers
• key to developing a ‘growth
mindset’ and ‘grit’
• a route to student autonomy,
key at transition points
• based on Seven Dimensions of
Learning Power, verified at Bristol
University
Why elli?
At a time of constant and accelerating change we need, more than ever, to be effective
learners.
elli - The Effective
Lifelong Learning Inventory - is a flexible, scientifically rigorous way of assessing, then improving, essential characteristics of effective lifelong learners.
As well as our annual whole school software licence, we provide training, engaging INSETS, consultancy support and materials - all at very competitive rates.
We have a great track record of working supportively in partnership with schools.
The ELLI Research
The ELLI research, developed at the University of Bristol, set out to identify the characteristics and dispositions of effective lifelong learners.
Seven dimensions of 'learning power' emerged, via factor analysis, each with elements of ‘thinking, feeling and doing’.
These factors embrace not only the psychology of the learner, but also external factors such as social psychology, management of the environment, how learning is facilitated and consideration of the individual’s past history.
The Learning Dimensions
Users and schools receive a profile based on the research-verified Seven Dimensions of Learning.
Unlike learning styles or personality
types, the learning dimensions are applicable to everyone, and can be developed by everyone. The profile is not static, but rather changes over time, provoking a strategy of change and improvement.
We believe that elli is the most
flexible, intuitive, relevant and effective learning tool on the market.
We think you’ll agree with us.
