Here’s How It Works: Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9 grid, broken down into nine 3x3 boxes. To solve a sudoku, the numbers 1 through 9 must fill each row, column and box. Each number can appear only once in each row, column and box. You can figure out the order in which the numbers will appear by using the numeric clues already provided in the boxes. The more numbers you name, the easier it gets to solve the puzzle!

Getting children to try new foods is not always easy. Kids have a tendency to be picky when it comes to the foods they eat, and many youngsters are reluctant to try all but the most familiar foods.Getting kids to embrace a variety of foods may take time, but such a noble effort can produce successful results. Dining on different foods helps to develop the palate and also ensures that children are being exposed to an array of nutrients and vitamins that are essential for growing bodies.

One way to help children be more receptive to new foods is to involve them when choosing the menu and preparing meals. A youngster who went shopping, picked out foods and assisted in the kitchen may be more eager to try the final product than one who has not.Mexican-inspired dishes may be one way to put new foods on the dinner table. "Cheddar Beef Enchiladas" from "Casseroles, Slow Cooker & Soups" by Taste of Home editors (RDA Enthu-siast Brands) features familiar ingredients combined with some more exotic flavors. Enchiladas can appeal to picky eaters.Cheddar Beef EnchiladasYield: 2 casseroles (5 to 6 enchiladas each)1 pound ground beef1 envelope taco seasoning1 cup water2 cups cooked rice1 can (16 ounces) refried beans2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided10 to 12 flour tortillas (8 inches), warmed1 jar (16 ounces) salsa1 can condensed cream of chicken soup, undilutedIn a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer, pink; drain. Stir in taco seasoning and water. Bring to a boil. Re-duce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes. Stir in rice. Cook and stir until liquid is evaporated.Spread about 2 tablespoons of refried beans, 1/4 cup of the beef mixture and 1 tablespoon cheese down the center of each tor-tilla; roll up. Place seam-side down in two greased 13x9x2-inch baking dishes.Combine salsa and soup; pour down the center of the enchi-ladas. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake one casserole, un-covered, at 350 F for 20 to 25 minutes or until heated through and cheese is melted. Cover and freeze remaining casserole for up to 3 months.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, inad-equate ventilation in a home can increase indoor air pollution levels. Those pollutant levels rise in a poorly ventilated home because not enough outdoor air is making its way into a home to dilute emissions from indoor sources of pollution. In addi-tion, in a poorly ventilated home, indoor air pollutants are not being carried out of the home, leaving the pollutants to linger and potentially putting the health of the home's residents at risk. Though it might seem counterintuitive to allow outdoor air into a home during winter, when such air tends to be at its coldest, such outdoor air can protect a home's inhabitants from the immediate effects of indoor air pollution, which include irritation of the eyes, nose and throat, as well as headaches, dizziness and fatigue. Long-term effects of prolonged exposure to indoor air pollution can include respiratory disease, heart disease and cancer. But homeowners who want toincrease out-door air infiltration in their homes do not have to open the windows even when temperatures dip. A simple inspection of mechanical ventilation systems, such as bathroom and kitchen fans and air handling systems that employ fans and ducts to remove indoor air and distribute filtered and conditioned out-door air throughout a home, may be all that's necessary to en-sure indoor air stays healthy during the winter. If such systems are in need of repair, homeowners should ensure those repairs are made prior to the arrival of winter

The Right Car Seat Makes for a Safer Ride for Childrencontinued from page 12

to age two. These seats are being manufacturered to meet higher weight limits in the rear-facing position. However, always verify the exact height and weight limit for the seat by reading the information booklet or the safety data that is printed directly on the seat.In addition, know how to safely use the seat, including which tethers should be used in which seating positions. Children should sit in the back of the vehicle away from airbags.

Learn proper installationConsumer Reports notes that about 80 percent of parents and caregivers misuse car seats in one way or another. Follow the directions for safe seat placement and positioning of tethers and safety belts. You can watch videos online on how to install safety seats properly, and many seat brands may direct you to an informational video. Some First Aid and police squads offer complimentary seat checks to reassure parents that seats are installed correctly.Older children in booster seats, which are designed to position passengers correctly to make use of the vehicle's seat belts, should have a proper fit. The lap belt should lie flat and on top of the thighs. The shoulder belt should rest directly in the middle of the shoulder and not too close

to the neck.

Know the types of seatsChildren may go through three or more safety seats before they're allowed to safely ride using the vehicle's own passenger restraint system. In addition to infant car seats, manufacturers offer convertible seats, harnessed seats, belt-positioning booster seats, and built-in safety seats. Many children are ready to bid farewell to car seats when they reach about 4-feet-9-inches tall.

Avoid used seatsUnless you can verify the full crash history of a car seat, it is best to buy it new rather than from a thrift store or on the Internet from a third party. Although car seats do not "expire" in the traditional sense, they are stamped with a use-by date. Materials in car seats can degrade over time, and harnesses may stretch. It's wise to replace car seats after several years and treat a new baby in the family to his or her own car seat instead of using a hand-me-down.Car seats can prevent injuries and death. They're one of the best safety investments parents can make, as long as they're researched and used properly.

Private sellers may know that the amount of mileage on their vehicles will go a long way toward determining their asking price, but they may not know that certain mileage milestones can affect how prospective buyers view their automobiles. For example, savvy buyers know that manufacturer warranties

tend to expire after three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. That may make a vehicle less attractive to buyers or inspire buyers to ask that the price of an extended war-ranty be deducted from the asking price of the vehicle. An-other important mileage marker to consider is the 60,000-mile marker. Upon reaching 60,000 miles, many vehicles need certain upgrades, including new brakes. Sellers who wish to unload their preowned vehicle as quickly as possible may want to make these upgrades prior to selling their ve-hicles and showcase the service records to prospective buyers. If not, sellers should be flexible with their asking price, as

buyers are likely to know thatsignificant maintenance could be just around the corner for a vehicle that has exceeded the 60,000 mile mark

Mileage Milestones May Change Buyer Perceptions

Fatigue can prove a formidable foe to anyone. Exercise enthusiasts and couch potatoes alike periodically can suffer from fatigue, which can affect performance at work and one’s relationships with friends and family.

Fatigue can be temporary or chronic, and while quick fixes like an energy drink might work for a little while, such solutions may only mask fatigue for a brief period before it returns once the stimulant wears off. Many times fending off fatigue involves making some lifestyle changes that can boost your energy over the long haul and make fatigue a distant memory.

Eat breakfast no matter what. According to a study published in the International Journal of Food Sciences and Nutrition, a high-fiber, high-carbohydrate breakfast can increase alertness between breakfast and lunch, a period of time during which many professionals begin to feel fatigue settling in. Whole-wheat toast or a bowl of high-fiber cereal can pack an energetic punch that lasts all the way to lunchtime.

Choose high-energy snacks. One of the problems many people have when dealing with fatigue is how they choose to combat their feelings of sluggishness. Eating a candy bar from the office snack machine might seem like the ideal energy booster, but a sugar boost does not last very long. Chances are your feelings of fatigue will return sooner rather than later.

Give yourself a break. Burning the midnight oil might be necessary, but failing to take breaks throughout the day will likely exasperate any feelings of fatigue. That’s because taking periodic breaks throughout the workday has been proven to be very effective at combating fatigue. A study conducted at Louisiana State University compared a trio of different work schedules for workers who used a computer. Those who took brief, frequent breaks were better at fighting fatigue and more productive at work than those who did not. A short break of 5 to 10 minutes can be enough to provide an immediate energy boost and fend off feelings of fatigue.

Hit the road, Jack. Another way to effectively fight fatigue is to get walking. A decades-old study conducted by a researcher at California State University, Long Beach, found that walking briskly for 10 minutes provides people with more energy than eating a candy bar. Though the candy bar led to an initial energy boost, that boost died down within an hour, whereas the boost provided by a brisk walk increased energy levels for roughly two hours. Get up and walk around the office or take a brisk walk around the block or the parking lot of your office complex. You’ll come back to your desk refreshed and ready to resume your workday.Fatigue is no laughing matter for many men and women. But a few tried and tested fatigue-fighting methods can increase your energy and productivity.

Successfully Fend Off Workplace Fatigue

Leaving the office to take a brief, yet brisk, walk is one way to combat fatigue during the workday.

Everyone forgets things from time to time. Periodically forgetting where you left your keys is likely not indicative of a bad memory. But some people find themselves forgetting things more frequently, a troubling development for those who can’t explain their sudden loss of memory.Memory loss is often considered to go hand-in-hand with aging. As a person ages, conventional wisdom suggests memory will begin to fade. But sometimes memory loss has nothing to do with aging, and a lot to do with a brain that isn’t sharp because of an unhealthy lifestyle. The following are a few ways men and women can improve their memory.Get some sleep. Men and women who aren’t getting enough sleep can almost certainly blame that lack of shut-eye for at least some of their memory loss.

Exercise, Diet Can Improve MemoryWhen you don’t get enough sleep, your brain’s ability to think critically, solve problems and even be creative is compromised considerably. In addition, research has shown that memory-enhancing activities occur during the deepest stages of sleep, further highlighting the importance of getting a full night of interruption-free rest.Hit the gym. Exercise is another activity that can improve memory. Daily physical exercise increases the amount of oxygen that gets to your brain while reducing the risk for certain disorders, including diabetes and cardiovascular disease, both of which can lead to memory loss. Manage stress effectively. Stress has a host of negative side effects, not the least of which is its impact on your memory. Chronic stress that goes untreated can destroy brain cells and damage the region of the brain that deals with the formation

of new memories as well as the retrieval of older memories. Numerous studies have shown that men and women cite their career as their primary source of stress. Since quitting your job is likely not an option, find ways to manage your stress more effectively. This may mean finding a way to make the most of your time, be it working more efficiently, emphasizing planning ahead or even vowing to stop procrastinating. Other ways to manage stress include making time to relax and recognizing that you have limits while seeking the help of others.Make some dietary changes. Diet can also have an impact on memory. What you eat is fuel for both your body and your brain, and a poor diet can have a negative impact on your memory. Be sure to include omega-3 fatty acids, sources of which include salmon, tuna and other cold water fatty fish, in your diet. Research has shown that omega-3 fatty acids, which can also be found in walnuts, can boost brain power and possibly reduce your risk for Alzheimer’s disease. Foods with antioxidants, including fruits and vegetables, can also protect your brain cells from damage, which can have a positive impact on your memory. Leafy green vegetables like spinach, romaine lettuce and arugula as well as fruits like apricots, mangoes, and cantaloupe are good sources of antioxidants. A diet high in saturated fat, which is found in red meat, whole milk, butter and cheese, has been found to have a negative impact on memory.Research has shown that such a diet increases a person’s risk of developing dementia while impairing an individual’s ability to concentrate and remember things.Loss of memory is often a momentary lapse, but those who find themselves becoming more and more forgetful can take steps to improve their memory and their quality of life.

Did You Know? The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say that roughly 30 percent of the population complains of chronic back pain in a given year. Lower back pain is a problem that plagues millions of people and can lead to lost hours of work, poor quality of life and reduced mobility. In fact, according to Global Burden of Disease 2010, low back pain is the single leading cause of disability worldwide. People spend around $50 billion each year on back pain treatments. One solution to back pain is to consult with a chiropractor. The American Chiropractic Association says chiropractic spinal manipulation is a safe and effective pain treatment. It also can help return mobility and flexibility to the back. With addiction to pain medications such a prevalent problem in both the United States and Canada, chiropractic care may be a good first step to alleviate pain and discomfort in the back.

Answer: Shadow

INDIANA- Norma White Realty has been selling resi-dential, commercial, farm and investment properties in Indiana County and surrounding areas since 1985.

Their reputation for honesty, integrity and customer service has established Norma White Realty as a trusted source when selling or buying real estate. Norma White opened her business in a small office space on 5th Street in Indiana when there were many other real estate offices in the area. But her business quickly grew due to the steadfast diligence of Norma and her co-worker, Marsha Delaney. Norma moved the realty company to its much larger, present location at 200 S. 7th Street. Norma thought “Everyone should live in a White House.” That patented motto remains true at Norma White Realty to-day.

Her son, Steve White (Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) and graduate of the Real Estate Institute, GRI), joined the company in 1986 and served as manager in the Blairsville area. Steve purchased the company from his mother in 1995. “Since 1995 we have listed and sold more real estate than any other real estate agency in Indi-ana County” stated Steve.

Today Norma White Realty has 14 licensed real estate agents/contractors and handles relocation and commer-cial leasing in addition to handling real estate.

“Real estate in the Indiana area is going more web based. We have made our website the premier website for real

estate in the Indiana County area.” added Steve.

In providing full service to its customers Norma White Realty works closely with multiple, local financial insti-tutions and has just entered into a new financing pro-gram with the First Commonwealth Bank.

Norma White Realty is located at 200 S. 7th Street (Jimmy Stewart Boulevard), Indiana, PA 15701. Busi-ness hours are: Monday thru Friday: 9am to 5pm; 24 hour on-call service. For more information please call: 724.349.1501 or visit their website: nwhiterealty.com. Please visit and LIKE them on Facebook.com pages/Norma-White-Realty-Property.

A roaring fireplace on a chilly day provides a welcome, aestheti-cally appealing respite from the cold.Fireplaces are typically used throughout winter, but when spring rolls around, many homeowners no longer feel the need to light

a fire. As fireplace season winds down, homeowners can take the following steps to close their fireplaces for the warm weather seasons ahead.

Begin the cleanup. Repeatedly lighting fires results in an accu-mulation of ash and residual wood debris. Clean out what you can by hand and discard the soot. To conduct a more thorough cleaning, use a high-powered garage vacuum to clear out any remaining ashes from crevices and other parts of the firebox.

Hire a chimney sweep. A fully functioning fireplace chimney should be swept annually by a certified chimney sweep. He or she will remove soot and any creosote from the inside of the chimney. Creosote is highly flammable and can cause consider-

able damage if it catches fire.A professional chimney sweeping also reduces the amount of dirt and odor that will continue to enter a home after the fire-place has been retired for the season. Damp spring weather can moisten soot trapped in a chimney, causing it to smell. Cleaning and deodorizing can help keep rooms fresh.

Ask for an inspection. Ask a chimney sweep to inspect your

chimney in addition to cleaning it. A sweep can look for leaks and cracks, and he or she should also look at the flashing system and rain cap, which can prevent water infiltration. You don't want to learn your chimney is in poor shape during a heavy spring rainfall. Ask that the pipes, brickwork and damper also be checked for functionality and good repair.

Close the damper. Homeowners should close the dampers on wood-burning fireplaces when closing their fireplaces for the season. Doing so prevents animals from making nests inside the chimney and possibly gaining entry into your home. Closing the damper also makes the home more efficient by not letting air escape through the chimney.

Those with gas fireplaces should leave the damper open at all times to prevent a gas buildup in the home in the case of a gas leak. However, homeowners may want to extinguish the pilot light for a gas fireplace in the spring to reduce energy usage.

Make it attractive. Some homeowners choose to dress up a fire-place to make it look more appealing in the offseason. Flowers, plants, candles, or decorative accents can be placed in the fire-box to add style to a home. When closing a fireplace for the season, homeowners can ben-efit from hiring a professional to ensure everything is done cor-rectly and the fireplace will be in top shape and ready to warm everyone up next winter.

Smartphones are a convenient tool that few people can now imagine living without. Smartphone-toting moms and dads know they always have a camera on hand to take quick snaps of their youngsters, while foodies rely on their smartphones to find nearby restaurants or read reviews of eateries while out on the town. But drivers also can benefit from smartphones thanks to the following apps.· Waze: Commuters who download Waze to their smart-phones may wonder how they ever navigated their daily treks to the office without this useful app, which allows drivers to share real-time traffic and road information with their fellow motorists. Drivers can use Waze to save time and gas money and make their commutes less stressful. Drivers who use Waze can actively report accidents and find the least expensive gas prices posted by fellow drivers in their community.· GasBuddy: While fuel prices dipped in late 2014 and stayed low into 2015, today's drivers are still conditioned to find the

most affordable gas prices around. The GasBuddy app makes it easy to do just that, as users can share gas prices in their community, which fellow drivers can then peruse to find the most affordable filling stations along their driving routes. Drivers can even enter their city, ZIP code or postal code to find the cheapest gas in their vicinity.· AAA Mobile: AAA members can use the AAA Mobile app to access AAA services on their smartphones. Such services include trip planning, member discounts and roadside assis-tance. The app also includes a mobile version of the motor club's popular TripTik® Travel Planner, which makes it easy for smartphone users to find club-approved hotels, restaurants and attractions. Drivers can even create and share trip itinerar-ies between their desktop and mobile devices.· Insurance: Nearly every auto insurance provider now offers its own mobile app to policy holders. Such apps may allow drivers to pay their bills, view their insurance identification

cards, peruse their policies, arrange for roadside assistance and report claims among other things. These apps put your auto insurance provider at your fingertips and can make it much easier to manage your policy.

The presence of mold in a home is a sight few homeowners want to see. In addition to being unsightly, mold found in a home can be unhealthy.

While certain cleaners may prove effective at removing mold, homeowners who want to remove existing mold growths and prevent future growths may benefit from gaining a greater un-derstanding of mold and why it grows inside homes.

What is mold?Mold is a blanket term used to describe fungi that can be found both indoors and outdoors. Many species of mold exist, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notes that some estimates suggest there may be more than three hundred thousand different species of mold. Common indoor molds

The Potentially Harmful Effects of Mold in Your Homeinclude cladosporium, penicillium, alternaria, and aspergillus.

Which conditions promote mold growth?Homeowners may notice that mold tends to grow in specif-ic areas of their homes but not in others, and that's because molds grow best in certain conditions. Warm, damp and hu-mid conditions, such as those found in poorly ventilated bath-rooms and basements, make ideal breeding grounds for mold.

What are the effects of mold exposure?Molds are a natural and resilient part of the environment, but mold growth indoors should be addressed and avoided. Mold spores are tiny and invisible to the naked eye, and when these spores attach to wet surfaces, they begin to grow. Once these spores begin to grow, they can then affect people in various ways. Roughly a decade ago, the Institute of Medicine found

sufficient evidence to support a link between exposure to in-door mold and respiratory tract issues, such as coughing and wheezing in people who were otherwise healthy. The same re-port found that mold may trigger asthma symptoms among people with asthma and hypersensitivity pneumonitis, a dis-ease in which the lungs are inflamed when a person breathes in certain dusts he or she is allergic to, in people susceptible to that condition. Some people who do not have a preexisting condition can still be sensitive to molds. When exposed to mold, such people may experience symptoms like nasal stuffiness, eye irritation, wheezing, or skin irritation.

How can exposure to mold be decreased at home?Adequate ventilation is arguably homeowners' best friend with regard to reducing mold exposure at home. Control humidity

levels in areas of the home that tend to be warm and humid, such as the kitchen and bathroom. Install an ex-haust fan in the kitchen and bathroom and a window in the bathroom if yours does not already have one.

The CDC recommends that humidity levels be no higher than 50 percent throughout the day, and an air condi-tioner and dehumidifier can help you keep indoor humidity levels in check, es-pecially during the summer when humidity levels tend to be their highest of any time during the year.

When renovating your home, remove any existing carpeting from bathrooms and basements and toss out soaked carpets or upholstery as well. If painting will be part of your home renova-tion projects, add mold in-hibitors to paints prior to application.

Mold that grows inside a home is unsightly and po-tentially unhealthy. But concerned homeowners can take several reactive and pro-active steps to reduce exist-ing mold growths and pre-vent them from returning in the future.
