PACHIM KETANIM FROM RABBI YUDIN: IN HONOR OF PARSHAT CHOL HAMOED SUKKOT AND KOHELES

The Gemara Shabbos (30:B) teaches that our Rabbis were not certain whether to include Koheles among the holy writings, as part of Tanach, as there are many contradictions within the book. What saved the day was the penultimate verse by the wisest of men declaring that fearing G-d and keeping his mitzvos is the essences of life. Shlomo teaches us that even one like himself who could have everything is happiest when they come to the realization that they don't need everything. Similarly, the wisest of man teaches us that true wisdom is to know that you don't know.

Wishing everyone a good Shabbos and really wish you were here.

NURSERY SCHOOL NEWS

In conjunction with our science curriculum, the children are learning about sun light. We visited the shul sukkah to see how the light comes through the schach. The children all got a chance to hold the luluv and etrog and made beautiful decorations with their pictures for their family sukkot. They also decorated our Shomrei Torah Sukkah, so stop by to take a look. The children are excited to dance with the Torahs on Simchat Torah and deco-rated their own flags. There is no formal Nursery School program for Suk-kot but many of our children will be using our day care coverage throughout the week. They will be enjoying Hebrew with Morah Etty, arts and crafts, stories, indoor and outdoor fun and lots more!! Shabbat Shalom and chag sameach!

ANNUAL KRISTALNACHT MEMORIAL PROGRAM

Save the date: Motzei Shabbat, November 5th, at 7:30pm in Shomrei Torah. The Kovacs family will once again sponsor this event, which will feature a showing of the movie, "We Fought Like Lions,” a riveting tale of courage, tenacity, and resilience in the face of nearly unstoppable evil. Charlie Shaye Lelonek’s partisan forays and Warsaw Ghetto resistance were death-defying exploits, superseded only by the heroic rescue of his entire nuclear family. Join us as Dr. Gary Lelonek, his grandson, shares how he unraveled this tale of intrigue and clandestine survival in the jaws of the jackboots. Refreshments will be served.
