WiFi-enabled Vibration and Impact Monitoring System
Key Benefits of OpsWatch
Dual Mode Monitoring
■ Dual Configuration Profiles (Transport & In-Line Monitoring)
■ Ability To Switch From Battery To External Power Source
Rugged Design For Tough Conditions
■ EX/ATEX Certifications
■ IP67 Rating For Dust/Liquid Immersion
■ Durable Material Composition To Stand Up To Rough Handling
■ Wide Temperature Operating Range
Simplified Data Management
■ Self contained unit with built in intelligence vs. sensors reporting all data to a
centralized software gateway
■ Turnkey product that easily streams via Wi-fi (versus mesh / Bluetooth alternatives).
Superior Monitoring Capabilities
■ Trusted and patented ShockWatch accelerometers and algorithms.
■ Both Shock & Vibration Monitoring
■ Proprietary accelerometer detects lower signals than MEMS
Oil and Gas – OpsWatch Application
Generators■ Power source for rig
Mud Pumps■ Reciprocating equipment
used to circulate drilling fluids
Top Drive■ Rotating equipment the
turns the drill stream
Draw-works■ Primary hoisting machinery
(AC/DC motors, etc.)
Drilling Rig Components
Must be ATEX on Off-Shore Rigs
Key Development Requirements
Dual Mode Functionality – Both Transport and Condition Based
Monitoring (CBM)
Streaming Data – Communicate Precision Shock & Vibration Data
Through WiFi Connectivity
EX/ATEX Approved Version – spark proof or intrinsically safe for,
Zone 1, environments (i.e. chemical / oil & gas)
ATEX, CSA, EX, Intrinsically Safe
What Does It All Mean?
Intrinsically safe is used to describe products that
are destined for an explosive area.
■ It is a protection concept that is based around limiting the
available electrical energy to nonincendive levels (i.e.,
sparks cannot occur from short circuit or failures that
could cause an explosive atmosphere to ignite).
■ Products bearing marks have been tested to meet certain
standards & production sites have been audited to meet
certain compliance measures.
Certification Marks
■ United States & Canadian Safety Standards
■ United Kingdom & Europe Safety Standard
Covered by the ATEX Directive
Application Example
Hot Gas Defrost Refrigeration Systems
Food & Beverage manufacturing requires the use of complex refrigeration.
Pressures and temperatures inside evaporator piping will vary significantly
from one phase of defrost to the next.
Under these changing conditions pressure shocks can occur, causing
gradual or sudden damage to components and piping.
