About the TrustSankara Educational Institutions, sponsored by the Coimbatore Educational and Cultural Foundation
Trust, was founded by ‘Kalvi Chemmal’ Late. Sri T.K. Pattabhiraman with the blessing of his holiness
Paramachariar. The foundation stone was laid by Late Raja Sir Muthiah Chettiar, Pro - Chancellor,
Annamalai University in August, 1982. The Coimbatore Educational and Cultural Foundational Trust
(CECFT) has its primary objective as the promotion of higher education in Arts & Science,Commerce,
Management and Technology. With this end in view, the following educational institutions were started
in Saravanampatty, Coimbatore, by the trust and have been running successfully for the past 32 years.

About SIMS
Since its inception in 2000, Sankara Institute of Management Science (SIMS) has been one of the fast
growing institutes in Coimbatore. The significant objective of SIMS is to offer affordable management
education to the deserved students with the state of the art infrastructure and learning facilities.
SIMS-MBA is a fun-filled, integrative and intellectually stimulating experience. At SIMS, innovative and
practical teaching pedagogy is followed and excellent training opportunities are provided to students
for overall development. Quality education at SIMS was analysed by National Assessment and
Accreditation Council when the peer committee visited the college and on examination of various
parameters ranked the college with ‘A’ Grade on a CGPA of 3.19, as one of the top ranking

Our CorrespondentLate. Shri. T.K. Pattabhiraman, founder of Sankara Educational Institutions, was born on 19th July 1917,
and graduated from St. Joseph's College, Trichy in 1940. He was a renowned Industrialist and Educationalist
in Coimbatore.
He was the recipient of Indira Gandhi Priyadharshini Award presented in 1995 for the outstanding services
achievement and contributions in Social, Educational and Spiritual services to society. "KALVICHEMMAL"
Award was presented by the Education Minister Mr. M.Thambi Durai, Government of Tamilnadu. He was
the President of Coimbatore Cloth Merchants Association for about 20 years. He was the President and
Secretary of Sri Ayyappan Pooja Sangham, one of the reputed social and religious institution in Coimbatore
from 1966 to 1981. He was the Chairman Board of Trustees of Arulmighu Sri Baladhandayuthapani
Temple, Sukrawarpet, Coimbatore for 10 years. During his period Sri Murugan Temple was completely
renovated by conducting Three Sorpozhivu by late Thirumuruga Kribananda Variar. He was the Founder
and Managing Trustee of Sri Kamakshi Amman Temple at Thiruvenkitaswamy Road, R.S.Puram, Coimbatore.
With the blessings of Centenarian Mahaswamigal of Kanchi Kamakodi Peedom, the Kamakshi Amman
Temple was consecrated and Kumbabhishekam was performed in the year 1976.

Placement training is an essential and inbuilt component at SIMS with an MOU signed in collaboration
with one of the leading placement training corporates of India – EIDOS Inc. The modules of EIDOS
give comprehensive training on aspects of quantitative aptitude, group discussions, mock interview
practices, corporate communication skills and soft skills that will mould the students to become potentially
skilled managers of the future. Placement training at SIMS begins from 1st week of the MBA program
and continues until the student is placed in a reputed company.
E- Learning
SIMS realizing the potential benefits of technology in learning methodology and keeping in mind the
tech savy current generation students has installed the e-learning platform called myklassroom.com in
collaboration with the company MyKlassroom.com. This platform enables the students towards 24/7
learning through participation. The learning materials in the form of PPT, videos, lectures, assignments
and latest updates from news and current affairs are available for the benefit of the students.
Trading Lab
SIMS in partnership with National Stock Exchange has set up a trading lab. The terminal will bring
real-time stock movements and investment decisions close to a management student. This exclusive
trading lab is also intended to be a research facility for staff and students.

Infrastructure and FacilitiesGallery Classrooms
SIMS has two gallery-type lecture halls and one executive
classroom; all the classrooms are air-conditioned and IT
enabled with automatic attendance recording, and LCD
and OHP projectors. The Hi-Tech lecture halls are
endowed to simulate a modern corporate setting and to
provide our students the ambience of professional

SIMS has well equipped conference hall with capacity of

The library of SIMS provides learning resource support in all areas of science and commerce,

materials of about 6000 volumes of books on 2000 titles and around 10000 hard copies, 63 national,
7 international journals and few e-journals and audio/Visuals of around 500 CDs/Videos. The library
catalogue is fully automatic enabling to check details, make reservations or renew existing loans at
any time. A photocopying machine is provided for the beneficiaries.

Wi-Fi Campus
SIMS offers free internet connections via our high-speed
local network and is connected through Wi-Fi also
through the central server available for students for their
project work and for preparing seminars, presentations
and access varied learning resources round the clock. It
also facilitates easy access and upgradation through
e-books, study materials, teaching schedules, internal
marks, attendance, daily circulars, etc.
Student Lounge
SIMS student lounge is a comfortable area open to MBA
students for gathering, studying, and relaxing between
classes. The Lounge is equipped with comfortable
furniture, table tennis, carrom board, chess, etc., students

Buzz room at SIMS is an initiative which paves way for

SIMS conference room provides a corporate setting

Admissions
Applicant will be shortlisted on the basis of MAT / CMAT / TANCET / CET conducted by consortium /
similar test scores.
The shortlisted candidate will be called for a group discussion and personal interview.
Admission is offered based on the cumulative scores of the academic performance, group discussion
and personal interview.
Admission Procedure - Master of Business Administration (MBA)
A candidate with minimum pass in UG degree, in any discipline obtained from a university approved by
UGC.
Candidate in their final semester of graduation can also apply.

APPLICATION FORM
1. Each applicant shall submit only one application for a course.
2. Please refer to the item wise instruction before filling up the form.
3. Forms must be filled by the applicant.
4. Use only BLACK or BLUE pen to fill up the form.
5. Applicants must paste their most recent colour photograph (not older than 3 months) in the
appropriate place. Do not pin or staple the photograph.
6. Square boxes provided in the forms are only for writing the alphabets in capitals or numbers.
The alphabet or number should be written in any one box. Wherever codes are given, fill the
boxes in the application form with the appropriate codes.
7. Over - writing, striking off or erasing in the form may lead to rejection and should be avoided.
Any discrepancy in the statement and / or submission of incomplete forms will lead to rejection
of application / cancellation of admission.
8. Keep a photocopy of the filled application for future reference. Application number must be
quoted in all future correspondence.
The application fees can be remitted through any one of the following modes

Ban on RaggingRagging is a criminal offence as per Tamilnadu Act 1983 and Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. SIMS
ensures strict compliance on the prevention of ragging of any form.
Definition
“Ragging” means causing, inducing, compelling or forcing a student, whether by way of a practical
joke or otherwise, to do any act which detracts from human dignity or violates his person or exposes
him to forbear from doing any lawful act, by intimidating, wrongfully restraining, wrongfully confining or
injuring him or by using criminal force to him or by holding out to him any threat of such intimidation,
wrongful restraint, wrongful confinement, injury or the use of criminal force, supreme court of India has
defined ragging as a criminal offence.
Penalty for Ragging
No person who is a student of an educational institution shall commit ragging, supreme court of
India ordered that “If any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the authority, the concerned
student has the opportunity to explain and if his/her explanation is not found satisfactory, the
authority would expel him/her from the institution.”
Warning
No leniency will be shown to the offenders involved in ragging. All students are requested to
note and co-operate in keeping our university and its constituent colleges free from ragging.
Names of the officials with photograph and the telephone number to be contacted in case of
emergency is printed in the orientation handbook given by the institution.
