Shenzhen, which roughly follows the administrative
boundaries of Bao‘an County, officially became a city in 1979,
taking its name from the former county town, whose train
station was the last stop on the Mainland Chinese section of
the railway between Canton and Kowloon.
In 1980, Shenzhen was established as China’s first special
economic zone.

In May 1980, the Central Committee designated Shenzhen as an
SEZ, which was promoted by then-paramount leader Deng Xiaoping
and created to be an experimental ground for the practice of market
capitalism within a community guided by the ideals of "socialism with
Chinese characteristics".
Through the processing of incoming materials, compensation trade,
joint ventures, cooperative operations, sole proprietorship, and
leasing, the city has attracted a large amount of foreign investment
and helped popularize and enable rapid development of the SEZ
concept.

Cantonese cuisine refers to the cuisine of the Guangdong province of
China. “Cantonese” specifically refers to only Guangzhou or the
language known as Cantonese associated with it, but people generally
refer to “Cantonese cuisine” to all the cooking styles of the speakers
of Yue Chinese languages from within Guangdong.
It is one of the Eight Culinary Traditions of Chinese cuisine. Its
prominence outside China is due to the large number of Cantonese
emigrants. Chefs trained in Cantonese cuisine are highly sought after
throughout China. Until recently, most Chinese restaurants in the
West served largely Cantonese dishes.
Shenzhen is located in the southern portion of the
Guangdong Province, on the eastern shore of the Pearl
River Delta. Neighboring the Pearl River Delta and Hong
Kong, Shenzhen's location gives it a geographical
advantage for economic development. In 1980, the first
Special Economic Zone of China was built in this city.
Shenzhen consists of 9 districts and 1 new area, they
are Luohu, Futian, Nanshan, Yantian, Bao’an,
Longgang, Longhua, Pingshan, Guangming, and
Dapeng New District.

Shenzhen is one of the largest cities in China. Except for
visiting famous attractions in the day, there are still a lot of
things to do at night in Shenzhen. For example, you can go
to OCT Bay or OCT East to watch the charming night
shows, go shopping at one of the famous shoppingmalls/streets, or relax at a bar street in Shenzhen. Another
option is to head to Sea World Square, which has
restaurants offering a variety of cuisines, as well as live
music bars and nightclubs.
