Coach’s Corner This has been a great experience for all of us. We started this year off with a phenomenal recruiting class that exceeded our expectations and goals! As a result, we created a third team to represent Shelby Robotics. We sought after more diversity and those goals were obtained as well. We were fortunate to have two great locations to choose from for our practice location. We chose the location nearest Shelby Jr. High, as it was easier to access for most of the kids. We want to thank both sponsors for donating their locations for our use. I would like to especially thank all our sponsors who have donated to our team. These partnerships have allowed us to procure the parts we need to build our robots, compete and fund the administrations costs associated with a non-profit. The students have learned a great deal. We had a kick-off event with Oxford where the kids were taught a wealth of information, ranging from Intro to software, gears, levers and arms, Engineering Notebook, REV Components and batteries to name a few. We created Pugh matrixes in order to make data driven decisions on the best robot to prepare for future competition. The software team has made great strides and improvements in vision technology and chassis controls. Currently we have successfully built three chassis that will power our robots. We have a lot of work left to do before our first qualifying event in Marysville, Nov. 18. Thank you again for your support, ideas and commitment to STEM.
