On Sunday, 20 October 2019. Doors open at 5pm when festivities
begin, culminating in a live countdown moment at exactly 20:20hrs,
to mark exactly ‘1 Year To Go’ before Expo 2020. The event ends at
10pm.

The Main Stage is the energetic heartbeat of the 1 Year To Go
event, inspiring everyone with the spirit of Expo. Enjoy a
selection of the UAE’s finest grassroots music and performing arts
talent throughout the day. As the sun goes down, get ready to get
excited to celebrate with us, as we officially countdown to ‘1 Year
To Go’ to Expo 2020 Dubai – The World’s Greatest Show. Join us at
7.25pm to witness the first live broadcast of its kind across the
country, culminating in a spectacular ‘20:20’ (8.20pm) moment as we
connect to the One Year To Go event in Dubai, and enjoy the music,
fireworks and A-list celebrity performances from global
superstars.

One of the Arab world’s foremost artists, Hussain Al Jassmi’s
impressive catalogue of work includes songs such as ‘Fakadtak’ and
‘Boshret Kheir’. As ambassador for Expo 2020, his collaboration
will drive excitement and national pride around the celebratory
milestone of One Year To Go.
SHRADDHA KAPOOR BOLLYWOOD SUPERSTAR
Bollywood star Shraddha Kapoor earned a nomination for the 2010
Filmfare Best Female Debut for her screen debut in Teen Patti. She
rose to prominence for her portrayal as Arohi Keshav Shirke in the
2013 romantic musical Aashiqui 2, in which she gained positive
acclaims and numerous nominations including the Filmfare Award for
Best Actress. She is the daughter of veteran Indian actor, Shakti
Kapoor and Bollywood singer and actress Shivangi Kapoor.
ROOH BAND INDIAN
ROOH combine music across English, Arabic and Hindi. They have won
numerous awards and have travelled all over the world through their
music. Some of their awards are Best Asian Band 2018 by Masala
Awards, 2 Bollywood songs (Composed & Sung) in the movie Julie
2, HOT 100 personalities in Gulf and many more.
BRITISH/FILIPINO
Clarita is a Number 1 album selling, UAE-based, classically trained
pianist, percussionist and vocalist. Clarita is often requested to
perform and open alongside some of the worlds greatest artists such
as Elton John. Clarita now splits her time between the UAE and
Lebanon.
SWEDISH-LEBANESE/TUNISIAN
Benna Duo is represented by two amazing down-to-earth female
artists with their musical instruments and talents, which are
enriched by their collective extensive experience. The band’s name
is inspired by the Tunisian word ‘Benna”, which means ‘Taste’s
good’. The Duo have performed festivals such as The Sharjah
Festival, The Sikka Festival, and The Wasla Festival.
EGYPTIAN
Rami Zaki, is an Egyptian Oud player & singer with a big Arabic
repertoire of classical & contemporary songs from different
MENA regions.
PAKISTANI
Namal is a poetry writer and performer who is part of The
Poetryhood community. Featuring on an Apple Podcast by the same
name. Namal also runs a number of poetry workshops in both Arabic
and English in locations including Manarat al Saadiyat, Dubai
International Art Centre and many more.
EGYPTIAN
Ahd Hany is an Egyptian designer. She won the Red Bull Kicks Art
competition in 2017. For which her sneaker design named
‘Griffonage’ is being brought to life. Ahd’s future plans include a
project for Koita, an organic dairy company based in the UAE. She’s
also working on designing a unique line of shoes for a Japanese
restaurant.
SUQIA UAE WATER AID
Established in 2015, the UAE Water Aid Foundation, Suqia UAE, an
entity under the umbrella of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum
Global Initiatives foundation, is a non-profit organisation that
provides humanitarian aid around the world and helps communities
that suffer from water scarcity by providing them with potable
water. After all, clean and accessible water for all is an
essential part of the world we want to live in. Until today, we
have positively influenced the lives of over 9 million people in 34
countries.

WHERE IS THE EVENT TAKING PLACE AND HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE
EXPECTED?
Al Majaz Waterfront is hosting Sharjah’s ‘1 Year To Go’ event, with
around 1,000 visitors expected to attend
WILL I NEED A TICKET?
No ticket required. The event is free and open to the public,
however we recommend visitors arrive at 5pm to ensure you have
plenty of time to enjoy all the event has to offer. If we reach
maximum capacity of the venue, we will not be able to grant you
immediate access.
WHAT IS HAPPENING AT EACH OF THE FESTIVALS?
Whichever festival you attend, you can expect live music,
performers, artists and plenty of fun for the whole family.

Our terms and conditions of the event specify the below:
Unauthorized professional photography or filming equipment is
strictly prohibited. You agree that all images, videos and audio
recordings taken by you whilst at the Event and the Site shall be
used solely for personal and non-commercial purposes, unless the
prior written consent is obtained from Expo 2020 Dubai.
You understand that film and photographic cameras may be present at
the Event. By entering the Site and the Event and/or booking
Tickets, you agree and consent (either on your own behalf or on
behalf of your child) that worldwide perpetual use may be made in
any and all media , free of charge, of your voice, image and
likeness captured whilst present at or about the Event and the Site
for any purpose, including, without limitation, by means of live or
recorded video display, broadcast, transmission or other
dissemination or recording, photographs or any other current and/or

media technologies and for either commercial or non-commercial
purposes including, without limitation, in promotional and

HOW CAN I GET TO THE VENUE?
BY CAR If you’re travelling by car, there is a public car park at
the event entrance, with blue badge spaces available. There’s also
street parking around the lake.
BY TAXI If you’re travelling by Uber, Careem or licensed taxi, your
driver can drop you off at the entrance.
VENUE
IS THE EVENT SEATED? No – all festivals are standing room
only.
CAN I LEAVE THE EVENT AND RETURN? Yes, you can gain re-entry as
long as the event capacity isn’t exceeded. But once the festivities
have started, you won’t want to leave anyway!
DO I NEED TO BE A UAE RESIDENT TO ATTEND? No, all events are open
to the general public.
CAN I BRING MY CHILDREN? Yes, there’s plenty for your kids to enjoy
at our family-friendly events, including a dedicated kids’ craft
area.
CAN I BRING MY PET(S)? Sorry, guide dogs are the only animals
allowed at the event.
IF I COME WITH A BABY STROLLER, IS THERE A PLACE TO STORE IT? No –
we recommend leaving baby strollers at home.
IS THERE ANY ENTERTAINMENT APART FROM LIVE MUSIC? Yes, there is an
area for adults and children, and plenty of fun and engaging
activities for all ages.
WILL THERE BE FIREWORKS? The 20:20 countdown moment will be
celebrated on site and the fireworks from Burj Park, Downtown Dubai
will be broadcast live in each venue.
CAN I BRING MY OWN FOOD AND DRINKS? Yes, you can. But we recommend
leaving enough space to sample the wide range of mouthwatering
cuisines that are available at the food outlets within Al Majaz
Waterfront.
WILL ALCOHOL BE SERVED? This event is an alcohol-free zone.
WILL FOOD OUTLETS BE EQUIPPED WITH CREDIT CARD MACHINES? Yes.
Nevertheless, we always recommend that you bring cash with you to
make your payment faster for low value purchases.
WILL WATER BE PROVIDED? Yes, absolutely. Free eco-friendly water
bottles and filtered tap water will be available.
ACCESSIBILITY
IS THERE ACCESS FOR PEOPLE OF DETERMINATION? Absolutely. There will
be dedicated access and toilets within each venue for People of
Determination to enjoy the festivities.
IS THE VENUE WHEELCHAIR-ACCESSIBLE? Yes, the venue is suitable for
wheelchair users.

On Sunday, 20 October 2019, we are celebrating the important
milestone of 1 Year to Go to the opening of Expo 2020 Dubai. We are
hosting seven special events across the UAE, each featuring live
performances from widely respected artists and performers.
Everything will culminate in one spectacular live national moment
at exactly 20:20hrs.
