SHARING
TIMES
The front entrance at St. Francis Home
is officially open! If you haven’t seen
it - stop out. It’s beautiful!
Despite the snow, we had a
wonderful turnout for the live
nativity. Such a meaningful start to
the Christmas season!

In case you missed the Charism Week presentations this year,
we will be providing a summary of programs for several months.
Cuernavaca Children’s Ministry: Breaking the Cycle of Poverty
Sr. Joanne Lammers arranged for Sr. Margaret Slowick to offer this presentation live via the web directly to
Tiffin from Mexico. From her humble abode in Mexico, Sr. Margaret presented the history and purpose of
this ministry to the poor of Cuernavaca, especially the children. She explained how important education is as
a way out of poverty, but how difficult it is for the poorest families to encourage and provide schooling.
Even very young children need to choose between school or helping provide income by selling simple wares
on the streets every day. A choice between school or food. It is a heartbreaking scenario, but one that the
leaders of this ministry help to break. Many local women have joined Sr. Margaret in this ministry by
helping with tutoring and school assistance. We can help too. There is a sponsor-a-child program that many
throughout Tiffin support by sponsoring 1 or more children to stay in school. If you would like more
information, just contact the Convent at (419) 447-0435.
The St. Francis Home Auxiliary hosted a
festive Christmas luncheon for the residents
at St. Francis Home. The residents and
staff of St. Francis Home would like to
thank the auxiliary for all they do
throughout the year and especially at
Christmastime! You are all very special!
