Everyone Welcome!
The 1st Thursday in May is deemed the “National Day of
Prayer”. We possess the most powerful weapon within our
selves-the Power of Prayer. How awesome! To approach God’s
Mercy Seat at any time of day, Pray without ceasing, especially
on this day set aside to pray for our Country and Leaders, the
Lost and for each other. “For such a time as this” -The Lord is
good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in
Him. Give God the praise and glory for this awesome privilege.
A Mother’s Prayer-Thank you Lord for bringing my children into my life. Help me
guide them and teach them through example; to lead lives of wisdom and strong,
loving faith. Please let them learn to serve You always in thought and deed. And
remind me Lord to always be there for my Family as You are always there for me.
NOTE: We will continue to follow Governor McMaster’s mandate
regarding the Corona Virus. Thank you for your due diligence.
Sr. Adults will continue having their last Thursday
lunch meetings throughout the Summer. Come and join
us (11:30 AM) for fun, great food and fellowship. We
hope to see you May 28th. Walter Brown, Min. Leader.

Christian Sympathy to the families and friends of: Robbie Bates; Skip Deloach; Joe Ann Holcombe;
Tommy Lee and Mark Snelgrove. Weep but briefly for your loved ones as they enter into the Kingdom

rejoice in their everlasting and total happiness, for their eyes have seen God and are being led through-
out Heaven by Jesus!
You can teach someone better with your life actions rather than with your lips.

Love One Another 1 John 3:11 For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should
love one another. I made a comment to the pastors the other day that they may need to start preaching on us get-
ting along with one another since the pandemic has forced our families to be together much more than we are
accustom to. It brings new meaning to "Absence Makes the Heart Fonder". I read the other day that domestic
violence is up and all other crimes are down. We all need our "Space" sometimes but remember that God
commands us to love one another, especially within our families. I pray that this pandemic will bring our families
closer together and not push them further apart. The opposite has happened to our church family for we are forced to be apart.
If you are like me, I miss being able to come together and fellowship with one another, but we have to be wise about the
current situation. I want to thank you for your obedience to God with regards to your continued tithing and/or financial giving.
The expenses of the church and God's work continues. Pastor Butch and Pastor Scottie continue to prepare and post Services
and Bible studies on the churches facebook page. You do not have to have a personal facebook account to view the videos. All
you need is to be able to get on the internet via computer, I Pad, smart phone or any other device that can connect to Internet.
Go to church web page, slbchurch.com, click on "sermons" and click on "facebook”. This will take you to where the
services are posted. You may have to scroll down to find the one you want. Church office hours remain the same if
we can assist you in any way. What a great God we serve. Mr. Jerry- Finance
The deadline for Health Kit collection has been extended
until June 30th. Ziploc bags are provided with list of items
enclosed; or bring specific needed items. They will be
distributed by Lex. Bapt. Assoc. WOM/WMU
A Word From Pastor Butch... Greetings in the name of Jesus! As I was preparing to write this article, I took time to look back at the article I
wrote this time last year. Wow, how times have changed. As I get older (and that seems to be happening very
quickly), the changes seem to speed up. In all my experience I don’t think anything has produced the changes
that have been produced by Covid-19.
I cannot remember in 72 years a time when I have gone this long without gathering with a congregation
of Believers in worship as a church. As much as I don’t like some of the effects of social media on society, it has really been
a blessing to be able to continue to worship together though separated by distance. “Social distancing“ was a totally new
concept to me, but I believe it will be common for the generations to follow. I thank you so much for supporting our efforts to
bring Bible studies and sermons to you through the internet.
We look forward to the time that we can gather again. Our first services will be like family reunions. As we try to
make plans for that time, churches are being encouraged to start back in phases. When that time comes, we likely will begin
by having Sunday morning Worship services for several weeks and then add Sunday School. The next phase would be to re-
start evening worship and Wednesday Bible study times.
We miss you guys! If you have needs please let us know. Feel free to give us a call at the office even if you just need to
talk. I am so thankful for Mrs. Betty making calls and checking on folks. Sunday School classes have sought to keep up with
members, but there are some who attend here that we do not have numbers for. If you are in that group please give us a call.
We hope to see you soon. Please be patient and do all you can to stay safe.
God bless you, we love you all! Butch

A Word From Pastor Scottie...
Blessings to you all! I hope this newsletter finds all of you doing well. I miss seeing everyone of you
and I can’t wait until we can meet, fellowship and praise our God together again!
On that note, I just want to remind you that even though we aren’t meeting together to “have church” we can,
and certainly should, praise God where we are and in all we do. God has given us too much for us not to be
thankful for, even in times that look a little different from what we are used to. I would encourage you to wor-
ship God where you are and in all that you do, because He is worthy of our praise.
The psalmist writes in Psalm 89:5-11, “Let the heavens praise Your wonders, O LORD, Your faithfulness in the as-
sembly of the holy ones! For who in the skies can be compared to the LORD? Who among the heavenly beings is like the
LORD, a God greatly to be feared in the council of the holy ones, and awesome above all who are around Him? O LORD
God of hosts, who is mighty as You are, O LORD, with Your faithfulness all around You? You rule the raging of the sea;
when its waves rise, You still them. You crushed Rahab like a carcass; You scattered Your enemies with Your mighty arm.
The heavens are Yours; the earth also is Yours; the world and all that is in it, You have founded them.”
That is the God that we serve and worship. God is in control and He is faithful to His people. Let the faithfulness of
the Lord be your guide as you seek to be faithful to Him. Love in Christ, Pastor Scottie
The “new norm”, unprecedented, social distancing, these are words that have been added to our vocabulary recently.
As Pastor Butch stated in his letter mailed to us, we were definitely “caught off guard” but, of course, our God was
not. How many of us have said, if I only had bought more toilet tissue, sanitizer, Clorox, Lysol, etc. to have on hand
before all of this started! Since we haven’t had a weekly bulletin since March 15th, thought I would give you an update of cur-
rent Finances usually posted on back of the bulletin that Mr. Jerry provides: You folks encourage me daily with your faithful-
ness in the mailing of your tithes and finan-
cial offerings each morning when I go by the
Post Office to check our mailbox. If there is
anything you need, stamped envelopes, etc.,
please don’t hesitate to let me know.
Remember, there is a 10-digit dialing re-
quirement now (you have to put in 803) so
call me at the office, 803-957-8285 if you
have any questions or need anything. May
God bless, till we see you again! Ms Betty

We weren’t able to celebrate our Seniors with Sr. Adult Day, but we want to enforce and let them know
what their Faith, Leadership, and Godly Legacy mean to us. We are so blessed to have them in our lives as
our Parents, Grandparents, Great Grandparents, Friends, but mostly, the ones we love! Senior Adults,
please know you are so appreciated, respected, and much loved! Pray for all our Seniors at SLBC. Give
them a call just to let them know you care about them.

The birth of Mother's Day-Anna M. Jarvis (1864-1948) loved her mother dearly and she was the one who first
suggested a national day to honor all mothers. At a memorial service for her mother on May 10,1908, Anna gave a
carnation, her mother’s favorite flower, to each person attending. Within a few years, the idea to honor mothers
gained popularity, and Mother’s Day was soon observed annually in large cities around the U.S. On May 9, 1914,
by an act of congress, President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed the 2nd Sunday of May as Mother’s Day. He estab-
lished the day as a time for “public expression of our love and reverence for the mothers of our country.” By then,
it had become customary to wear a white carnation in honor of departed mothers and a red carnation to honor the
living. This custom continues thru today.
Mom, how did you find the energy to do all the things you did for me when I was a kid, to be a teacher, a nurse
and a counselor? Mom, how did you do it all, be a chauffeur, a cook and a friend; yet find time to be a playmate? I
just can't comprehend how. Mom, I see now that it was love that made you come whenever I'd call, your inex-
haustible love. Mom, I thank you for it all. Mothers are a gift from God to us. There is no way we can ever really
thank our mother for all she does for us; nevertheless, we must make it a habit to keep reminding ourselves of all
the various sacrifices she has made for us. Mother's Day is the best time to say in words how much you love and
care for your Mom.
