Deadline: August 14

Registration for the 2020 ExAC Closes NextWeek Registration for the 2020 Examination for Architects in Canada(ExAC) closes at noon local time on Friday, August 14. Experiencehours submissions for consideration toward the required 2800hours of approved experience will be accepted until Tuesday,September 15. Interns should submit their experience for review assoon as possible. The National Committee for the ExAC (CExAC) has shared anupdate on the 2020 exam in light of the ongoing COVID-19pandemic.

OAA Webinar Series Continues The OAA Webinar Series of Structured Learning opportunitiescomprises specially priced webinars offered twice a month, usuallyfrom 11 am to 12:30 pm. The next webinar takes place on Thursday, August 20.“Reimagination of 60 Bloor Street: A Deep Retrofit Case Study”looks at a 1970s-vintage, 300,000-sf office building in Toronto,whose retrofit includes significant mechanical and electricalupgrades, installation of a modern building envelope with morethan 35 per cent greater daylight openings, and major upgrades tothe building’s retail podium—all while being fully occupied. Theproject is targeting an energy use reduction of more than 25 percent and pursuing LEED EB: O&M Gold certification. Thepresentation focuses primarily on the building envelopeconsiderations, including the design and installation of a bespokecurtain wall.
