Principal’s Corner This past Wednesday in Chapel, I talked about our identity. Although we have many different identities, we are all linked as Christians. Being a Christian should be our most important identity. Is that your identity? Do people see you as a Christian or would they be surprised to find out? When Christian is part of our identity, it should reflect in everything we do. People should see a difference in who we are and all that we do should point others to Jesus Christ. Being a Christian is not just something we do on Sundays or when around other Christians. It should be a part of everything we do. It is our identity.

Celebration of Lutheran Schools Activities One of the activities next week, taking place on Thursday, March 9, is that we are asking students to wear a t-shirt representing one of the 50 states in the USA. The whole school will join together at the end of that day to make a large map to show how many different states we represent. So look through your vacation t-shirts, sport t-shirts, or ask a relative to send you a t-shirt from your favorite state. Let’s see how many different states we can “WEAR”!
Another part of our celebration of Lutheran Schools the 7th and 8th graders will kick off our celebrations of Lutheran Schools Week early by serving a meal to the Janesville Fire Department and Rescue Squad on Wednesday, March 1st.
Students will help plan, prepare and serve the menu. All students will be involved in the planning process. Some will also help prepare the meal after school, set up and serve the meal and clean up after serving.
We are so blessed to be served by these great professionals who give their time and energy to our community. This is our way of saying, “thank you!”
Friday, March 10, 6:45-8:10am Dads, keep the morning of Friday,
March 10, open. Come and enjoy some special time with your son or daughter and have some donuts and coffee or juice! We will have a basket for free-will offering to help offset the cost, give if you can. If Dad can’t come, maybe Grandpa or a favorite uncle would be able to come.
Everyone is invited to Trinity’s Spelling Bee on Friday, March 10, at 8:45am in the gym. The 1st & 2nd place winners in each class, 1st-8th grade, will compete to be this year’s Trinity champion speller.
Athletic Awards Night will take place on Tuesday, February 28, 7:00 pm, at the church. We welcome all 2016-
2017 athletic participants and all 8th graders who have participated in athletics during their Trinity years, along with the parents of these athletes. Be sure to come for a fun night of awards and fellowship!
2017 Accelerated Reader Challenge Grades 1-8 Ends March 10
Reading for this contest can occur anywhere the children are – at home, at school, in the car, etc. Be sure to encourage your child to read each day to the best of their ability. Set time aside for them to read and even for you to listen to them read.
As of February 24, our overall student average is 14.59 points. Last year TLS placed 9th out of 66 schools. LET’S KEEP READ and We have two more weeks to accumulate points!
Thank you to all who brought in chapel offerings in February, we are able to give $158.63 to Hearts for Jesus for the Feed My Starving Children Program.
Chapel offerings during the month of March will go to Project Community Connect. PCC holds an annual event with the goal to reduce poverty and end homelessness by partnering with local service providers, businesses, citizens, and faith-based organizations to bring multiple resource providers to one
central location. Persons struggling financially are invited to access resources for themselves and their families. This event will be held on Tuesday, April 18, Noon to 4:00pm, at the Verizon Wireless Center in Mankato.
We are giving parents a heads up as we will be collecting a variety of items during Lutheran Schools Week. In additional to money collected at chapel, we will also collect items listed below that those coming to the April 18 event can “shop” for at the free tables:
Monday, March 6 – Diapers & Baby Wipes Tuesday, March 7 – Body Wash, Hand Soap, Dish Soap
Wednesday, March 8 – Laundry Soap Thursday, March 9 – Shampoo, Conditioner, Deodorant Friday, March 10 – Kleenex, Paper Towels, Bleach Wipes
We encourage parents and students to help improve the lives or the homeless and low income members in our community!
The purpose of Trinity Lutheran School is to equip the child to grow and serve as a disciple of Jesus Christ.
Friday, March 10, 1-2:45 pm All donations need to be collected and turned in on March 10, unless it’s an online donation. Jump Rope For Heart Is a national education and fund-raising event
sponsored by the American Heart Association. This event engages students with jumping rope while empowering them to improve their own health and help other kids with heart health issues. Through Jump Rope For Heart, kids learn jump rope skills, how their heart works and raise money to help kids with special hearts. Have fun, learn how to stay healthy and make a difference in the lives of others!

Here is another way to earn extra cash for our school! Between now and March 12, go to www.boxtops4education.com, find our school and create your own
account. You can log on each day to enter into the sweepstakes. You must be at least 18 years of age.
Nursing Home Visitors The 4th grade students have partnered with residents of the Janesville Nursing Home since the beginning of the school year. They visit twice a month, sometimes with an agenda, and sometimes not. On their most recent visit, they took their books along to read to the residents, explaining to them how they are competing in a national contest against other 4th grade classes in Lutheran Schools, and how they are leading the pack and striving to stay there.
Next week, during Lutheran School Week, the 4th graders will take pictures of themselves and have the residents help make personalized frames. The residents will get to keep the framed pictures in their rooms and brag about how we are their friends that visit from Trinity.
The students love going there to share stories, play games and visit. Hope someday someone will do the same for them.
Conferences will be set up by request only, by either the parent or teacher. Conferences will be held on
Tuesday March 14, from 3:30 to 7:00pm. Forms were sent home with every student in grades K-8. Please return your form by Friday, March 3. EVERY student’s form is to be returned, whether or not you are requesting a conference. This ensures that you have seen the sheet and have had the opportunity to request a conference. Thank you!
