Further control measures

Operating procedures

Handwashing is mandatory for all staff and students on entering the studio.Sanitizing is required for all staff and students at any point having moved around the studio and touching surfaces at any other students art station:- subject toavoiding the use of alcohol hand sanitiser to the extent it causes headaches, in which case hand washing will be done.

Surface cleaning of all occupied art stations after an art session will be done. Cleaning gloves will be worn.

Handwashing for staff will be done after cleaning the art stations.

For classes at studios, it's clear that the staff cannot work from home, and so must work at the art studio.

The art studio will make every reasonable effort to comply with the social distancing guidelines set out by the government (keeping people 2m apart whereverpossible).

However, social distancing guidelines could not be followed if students sat in the normal manner (like in Spring term) at their art station. Two actions are taken;firstly to reduce the number of children at a table from 6 to 4, and secondly to install on every table a clear 4mm think acrylic physical wall between studentsacross and beside, with a height of 0.8mtrs above the table to effectively mitigate the risk of transmission between students. If these screens are not (yet)available (due to delivery), the number of students per table will be 2.

Projects that might require more hand washing or cloths washing and induce more trips around the studio to clean hands have been suspended from the art classprogramme.

Projects that require quick drying of paints through the use of hair dryers will be considered carefully. Stirring air by using hair dryers may cause more

None required

contamination. Alternatives might be sought such as only drying if windows are open, or drying outside.

Whereas pre-Covid the art club would also teach adults, we will not resume adults immediately from 4th July (or whenever the Government gives the green light toopen), but will review each month whether to start adult classes at the studio. This is to reduce the number of adult to adult contacts our art leader has, which willhelp reduce the spread of the virus.

Parents are asked to only bring the children they are dropping off for the session, and one parent only if manageable- this to reduce the number of contactsoutside the studio.

Parents will be encouraged to think about a 10 minute arrival window. If they drop off early, pickup early, and if they drop late, pickup late, to a maximum of tenminutes.

Further mitigating actions include: • Placing students back-to-back or side-to-side when working near a neighbouring table (thereby avoiding face to face interaction between students).• Reducing the number of students each employee has contact with by allocating each employee to deal with a specific table of children where applicable, (soeach member of staff work with their fixed team and doesn't mingle). • If it happens that the project or environment creates face-to-face interaction for a sustained period with more than a small group of fixed partners, then theproject will be reviewed with a view to deleting the activity.

• No one will be asked to work in an unsafe work environment.

Safe Use Of Face Coverings:• Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water for 20seconds or use hand sanitiser before putting a face-covering on, and after removing it. • When wearing a face covering, avoid touching your face or face covering, as you could contaminate them with germs from your hands. • Change your face covering if it becomes damp or if you’ve touched it. • Continue to wash your hands regularly. • Change and wash your face covering daily. • If the material is washable, wash in line with manufacturer’s instructions.
