SW: The “Millennium” Social Media Culture • Gallery Sergeant Brian Spears, San Jose Police Department The social media workshop is designed to discuss trending social media cultures and the positive/negative aftermath. The workshop will also address the following: Digital Dating Abuse, Drama Inspired Abuse, “I sent a selfie,” and Human Trafficking. SGSW: Introduction to Personal Safety • Stage Jemma Jorel, IMPACT Bay Area Students will explore empowerment self-defense and develop intuition, situational aware- ness, congruent body language and verbal skills to set boundaries and deter violence, as well as learn two simple and effective physical techniques. This is Sarahi’s latest project in a longer trajectory of activism within and for the undocumented community, which has placed her in the spotlight of continued conversations centered on national immigration policy. Sarahi was a Champion of Change at the White House in 2014, has received 2 House of Representatives Awards, and was recently named in Forbes 30 under 30. A former un- documented student who once had to drop out of school to support her family, Sarahi’s personal experience informs her unwavering vision: to help hundreds of thousands of Latino students eliminate the barriers to success and achieve their full potential. SG: Healthy Relationships and Consent • Room 2Michelle Tran, Prevention EducatorGAT members: Maya-Itzel Villa, Meghan Louise LeeThis interactive workshop will explore the relationship spectrum, from healthy to abusive. By the end of the workshop participants will be able to identify key aspects of healthy, unhealthy, and abusive relationships as well as articulate how to respond if they are involved in or know someone who is involved in an unhealthy or abusive relationship.

SG: Stopping Sexual Harassment in Schools • Room 3Cynthia Hunter, County of Santa Clara Office of Women’s PolicyThe #MeToo and #TimesUp movements have brought attention to the sexual harassment and abuse in Hollywood and Capitol Hill, but we know that these crimes happen in high schools too. Do you know how to respond and what rights you have as a bystander and/or victim? All students have the right to feel safe at school. This workshop will explain your rights under Title IX and provide you with tools to see if your school is in compliance with the law.

This workshop will cover types of sexually transmitted infections and prevention methods. We will also review legal rights to accessing sexual and reproductive health care and where to receive support and services. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions, debunk myths and receive facts.

SG: Science is Changing the Discovery of Medicine • Room 3Salina Sotelo-Esparza, GenentechThrough a hands-on activity of extracting DNA from a strawberry, students will discover the power and science behind the medical breakthroughs that help people with life threatening illnesses. Students will gain a basic understanding of DNA and learn about careers in science.
