APPRENTICE
• Entry-level worker• Earn money while completing on-
the-job training• Must be sponsored by an
employer and/or pass the specific union’s exam and interview
JOURNEYMAN
• Experienced & skilled worker• Must complete a specified number
of On-The-Job training hours• Complete a specified number of
classroom training hours• Typically takes 3-5 years
depending upon the trade

CityBuild Academy
•18-week Pre-Apprenticeship training program for SF residents•At City College of San Francisco – Evans Street campus•10+ certifications (i.e. CPR/ First Aid)• Job placement assistance
•Case management•Hands-on training •Classroom training•Supportive services/uniform
Requirements for CityBuild Academy
• San Francisco Resident (proof required)• 18 years of age or over• Authorized to work in the U.S.• High School Diploma or GED• Social Security Card & Valid Driver’s License • Reading & math skills (test required)• Ability to communicate effectively in English • Successfully pass a drug test • Complete pre-CBA Job Readiness Training (40 hours)
