• Respondents reported the most important priorities for SFPE are to attract and guide the next generation of FPEs and focus on improving and expanding SFPE’s education offerings.

• Key challenges impacting the profession include a lack of awareness of the FPE professionand an inadequate number of qualified FPEs to fill workforce demand.

• In addition to those two challenges, respondents also reported that in the next 3 -5 years SFPE will need to address challenges around having sufficient professional development and training opportunities for mid-career professionals.

ENGINEERING SOLUTIONS FOR WILDFIRE: AN SFPE SYMPOSIUM
This symposium will target bringing together a range of governmental and NGO regulatory bodies who are involved, or should be involved, with discussion of the growing global wildfire threats. The goal of this event is to create a forum where fire protection engineers can facilitate conversations around engineering aspects of prevention, mitigation, and response to wildfires and to better identify the integral role of these various stakeholders in addressing this issue.
